What About Wednesday: Revitalizing Your Supplies

Aloha!! It’s Hannah here. This year one of my personal scraps goals is to focus on Project Life. Last year I took off from Project Life for the most part and now looking through my albums I really miss some of the stories that I used to include in Project Life that I don’t want to make a scrapbook page about.

I have a dilemma though. Back when I first started Project Life I just went out and bought a huge multi pack of Project Life protecters. The problem was I didn’t know how I would use the different styles, since most of my photos aren’t in the orientation of the protecters. Now I have tons of protectors that I have a hard time using.

This year 9X12 style protectors are really stylish. I realized that with my Fuse I can make my own 9X12 protectors with some of the protectors I have left over. It is a really good feeling that I can use up the supplies that I have bought in the past, so I don’t waste them.

I started off using a sketch from Citrus Twist it give me a place to start off of and have an idea of the format I wanted to Fuse my protecters. I used a Design C which is a 6 pocket protecter with 4X6 size pockets. I used a ruler to measure off 3×4 size for the end.

I decided to also make a shaker pocket to go next to the Month card. I am only going to add a title card for the month, that way I won’t have the pressure to do a certain amount of pages or photos for the week. I load photos and cards as I feel I have enough to share. One week I may do a whole page. Some weeks may only include 4 days like this spread. This is one way I am trying to simplify and streamline my process so I focus on the photos and stories and  not the amount of cards and pockets I need for a week.

In my shaker pocket I added silhouette cut snowflakes from the cut file last month. It really matches with the first photo of the month, in which we got a dusting of snow on the ground. It was a happy little surprise, since it really doesn’t snow where we live.

I used the sequin mix Build A Snowman, which are perfect with all the pinks and blues in my papers and photos.

I really kept my spread simple only adding a few embellishments along with sequins, so that the photos stand out.

This is my favorite picture from the week, this view!! Mt. Rainer is so gorgeous covered in snow!!

By using papers from my stash and an old Clique kit I was able to use up these cute puffy stickers. To keep things simple I am going to be using plain white card stock to do my journaling on. With doodles around the edges, it looks sharp and will match with no matter what pattern paper I use.

Little details like staples make this card really fun.

I scattered sequins on the cards for interest. Plus it really helps tie all the papers and cards together since I am not using just one collection.

This is my favorite filler card. It was paper I used to die cut an ampersand out of but really didn’t want to get rid of the pattern because I liked it. I backed it with a scrap from the Gather collection. Added that American Crafts layered embellishment and Simple Stories clear word sticker. Finished with some sequins and Egg-noggin Shimmerz Vibez and I have an unique filler card.

I hope I have inspired you to take a look at your old supplies and see how you can revitalize them to fit new trends. Like using the Fuse tool to make a pocket size protecter that you don’t have but want to use.
