Spotlight Sparkler: Danni Visser

Hi Sparklers! Danni here to share another sparkly layout with you.

This one was so fun to make, and I got to use up a bunch of those pesky numbers in my alpha sets. This pic was taken on the day we celebrated my little guy’s 3rd birthday, so I decided I wanted to use a repeating image of the number 3.

My base is a sheet of plain white card stock, with some torn paper strips from Cocoa Vanilla Boy’s Rule collection at the top and bottom, plus some splatters using my distress oxide inks. To be honest this layout probably would have more impact if I had left the background white, but I really struggle with lots of blank white space on my layouts!

For my big sparkly sequined number, I first cut a large 3 on my silhouette (but you could easily do this by hand) on white card stock. Then I took all the blue and green sequins from the Big Bling and Holiday Magic sequin mixes and glued them all over the 3 using tacky glue, being careful to try and fill all the blank spots with the smallest sequins.

If you overlap some of the sequins over the edge, don’t worry – once the glue dries you can easily trim the overhang with scissors.

The rest of the number 3s came from my stash – some are foam alphas, stickers or die cuts, a couple are hand-stitched and some I used paint and gel pens to create negative space images. I started with the largest ones first, then filled in the gaps with the smaller ones. The effect is really striking!

The rest of the layout didn’t need much to be complete, so I added some very simple photo mats and a single word script foam title. I sprinkled a few sequins around the corner of my photo and around my title for a finishing touch. I love how effective this layout turned out, perfect to celebrate this gorgeous boy’s birthday!
