Machine Stitching Right on a Layout

Meanwhile, I’m sharing this fun layout on the Clique Kits blog today. I created this with one of the fun Heidi Swapp papers from our Show & Tell kit, and layers of Simple Stories DIY Boutique papers & stickers. I piled some more layers of my SpiegelMom Scraps 8mm Pink Sequins, May Arts Chevron Twill, die cut cork butterflies, Pink Fresh Studio wood veneers, exclusive Clique Kits Flair & Spelling Bee words & phrases, washi tape and on top and added some machine stitching over SARI @ 7.

Speaking of machine stitching, this is very easy to do… But a little scary if you’ve never done it! To create the ruffle of May Arts chevron twill, I secured the end I started at with one little staple from my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. Then, I lined up my layout underneath the foot of my sewing machine(where the needle is stationed) began to slowly press the foot petal to start adding the zig zag stitching. As I was slowly stitching, I continued to fold over the chevron twill to create the ruffle. Give it a try!!

And now some up close & personal pics of my layout.  Don’t be afraid to add additional elements right on top of other embellishments on our layout or other paper crafting project.  These layers add wonderful, interesting texture and dimension to your design.
