Tuesday’s Talent

Hello!  It’s Melissa Vining here and I’m so excited to be the Guest Designer for March!  Firstly a little about me, I’m from Queenstown, New Zealand, and am married with 4 kids.  I’ve been scrapbooking since my oldest (nearly 11) was 18 months old, and I’ve hardly ever stopped!!  Its certainly harder to find time now that I have 4 kids, but I love to scrapbook my family’s memories and my greatest joy in this hobby is when they look through their scrapbooks.

Jody sent me some gorgeous packs of sequins, and it was difficult to decide what to use first!!  For my first project I decided to scrapbook a recent photo of my baby Ava (15 months old) at our lake.  March is the start of Autumn here in NZ, and I wanted to relive the hot summer days of what was one of the hottest and best Summer’s we’ve had in years.

For this layout I decided to use a cut file (this one is from Paper Issues) and two packets of sequins (because who can stop at one!!).  I used Hello Colourful You and Wild and Free.  I thought the colours were perfect for my photo.  I used my most recent Secret not Secret Kit, based on the Star Gazer collection by Dear Lizzy.

 

I backed each of the stars with sequins.  The pink and blue dominated stars come from the sequins in Hello Colourful You, and the blue stars come from the sequins in Wild and Free.  It was fiddly, but I’m so happy with how it turned out!

I kept my embellishment to only around the photo, so that the cutfile and sequins would shine.

I love the pop of sparkle that the sequin stars add!
