the leaves are turning

… into home decor!  Here is the other project I did to add some Fall decor to our home.  I used a large wood paper clip (Oriental Trading), inked it with some Tim Holtz Distress Inks and ColorBox Chalk Ink along the sides and edges.  Then I used some Simple Stories Life Documented Papers with the Months of the year printed along a line and adhered it to both sides using Mod Podge.  I inked the papers as well.  Then, the really fun part!  I used my Big Shot and the Leaves die to cut the 2 different kinds of leaves from Simple Stories papers and burgandy cardstock.  I put them in my little cardboard box lined with paper towels and sprayed them with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists (Bronze and Tattered Leather) and Ranger Perfect Pearls in Sunflower Sparkle (one of my fav’s!).  Just like the leaves for the altered book, I used my heat gun to zap them dry and make them curl a little.  I also coated them with Mod Podge on both sides to give them more strength and seal them.

The round element to the left is a cork coaster that I adhered a scalloped punched circle to in brown cardstock and Simple Stories papers, then layered the leaves on top of it.  That was also adhered and sealed with Mod Podge.
Close up of the Fall elements being held by the big clothepin.
The small leaves are from a Creative Memories Punch.

I just love how the Perfect Pearls Sunflower Sparkle looks when it’s dry!!  The ribbon is from May Arts and was dyed with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Faded Jean.  There’s also a canvas leaf at the bottom of the layers that was sprayed with Sunflower Sparkle too.

Here’s where it sits.!  Right by Hannah’s newborn picture (April 2008) and us in our Halloween costumes (Fall of 2007) when I was pregnant with Hannah. Scooby Doo, where are you??

The entire project was coated with Mod Podge to seal it…love that stuff.  Make sure you use the MATTE FINISH for a couple reasons:  lower oder & a nice smooth finish.
The glossy finish is very smelly.

I hope you enjoyed this little project.  Coming soon…. more BLOG BOOTY and new goodies from Studio Calico too!
Thanks for stopping by.
