growing up too fast…

Good morning!  I hope you all are getting back into the swing of things now that school has been in session a couple weeks.  I’m not quite finished with the little gift for Sari’s 4K teacher yet… but I did just finish this project for the Sept. 2011 MW Consultant Challenge: Back to School Altered Item.  Part of the challenge was to use a REAL pencil!!  Cool hey!

I used an odd sized frame (about 6×8″) I picked up on clearance somewhere, probably Kohls. It had no backing and no glass so it was dirt cheap! Otherwise, my inspiration was from our daughter Sari on her first day of 4K (gulp).

I used SS Elementary papers, stickers & cutouts, misc buttons (Hobby Lobby), 4 Pencils secured to frame by Glossy Accents, May Arts Red Check Ribbon & burlap string, Jillibean Soup Corrugated Banner shapes from Butterfly set and ColorBox Black Chalk Ink. Fiskars Notebook edge puncher. The tiny little bingo cards (attached to front of corrugated banner) are from the packaging for Jenni Bowlin Mini Bingo Cards School Days set. I used the back of the package that shows what bingo cards are in the set & cut it apart for the tiny elements. The pencils fit nicely in the grooves around the frame! I used cardboard from the back of a legal pad for the frame’s new back and covered it with black cardstock to finish it off.
I hope you’ll take this challenge on your own and create something unique this week!  If you do, please share it with me!
Thanks for stopping by again!
