Sketches and Scraplifts!

Hey y’all, Ali here! This week we are scraplifting the fabulous Rachel Lowe. We also have a great sketch to work with, so there is no shortage of inspiration! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to scraplift or with work with the sketch…so I have TWO layouts to share today!

My first layout is based on this wonderful sketch, I am loving the circles this month!I created this layout with the Fancy Pants Take Note collection, it is perfect for school photos! I started with circles cut from the 6 x 6 pad and the brag cards. I layered the circles with vellum for depth, and then I hand stitched the details. I love using sequins in place of splatters or small embellishments on a sketch, and the Lisa’s Starry Night sequins were a perfect match! I also used some of the leftover (discontinued) cork embellishments to add more interest because cork goes so well with this collection!

Now on to scraplifting! I love this layout from Rachel so much, it is sweet and whimsical…I have been wanting to lift it for a while but couldn’t find the perfect photo. Then Halloween happened and my cute little genie was the perfect photo to use on this layout!

Instead of the unicorn I created a cut file with an image from the kids show Shimmer and Shine (like my daughter’s costume). I used a Tim Holtz background paper that had mixed media resistant stars. I used watercolors to make those stars pop! Not only was the Unicorns and Rainbows mix a super fitting name for my layout, the colors went perfectly. The tiny purple sequins were great to add to the head piece of my genie. The combination of deeper pinks and softer pinks added just the right pop to my watercolors!

Thanks for checking out my layouts, I hope you feel inspired to scraplift or play with this awesome sketch! Happy Sunday!
