Aloha Sparklers!!

I don’t know about you, but I have a tons of 6×6 pads hanging around in my stash. There was a time when that was all I was buying, I had 12×12 sheets of the same paper too. I love 6×6 paper too. The prints are a smaller scale, which is nice when you are layering. Also sometimes when you layering a smaller piece just fits better.

I have this obsession with mixing my old stash with brand new supplies on my layouts. I recently bought some new Crate Paper paper, which is perfect for this layout about my kids love for playing video games. I really love that the colors aren’t very girly. Flowers and bows just don’t look right on a layout about video gaming, not that I need to use all themed products.

It is fun every once in a while though. Like what I did with these old vellum video game pieces from Crate Paper Boys Rule (from a couple of years ago). I added the Magical Day in the Park sequin mix on the vellum pieces like it was shooting onto my layout.

I just love how cool that looks.

I used my old 6×6 pad papers that had similar colors, (I looked for the blue family), and layered them behind of my photos. I used two 3×4 sized photos. I love the way they looked layered over top of each other. and then all the patterns peeking out from behind them.

I added a little bit of Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Gummy Bear Blue on my white cardstock background. Because the Crate Paper has a more cream tone to it, I like to use more white in other places so my page doesn’t seem as vintage with that cream tone. For a layout like this it wasn’t a look I wanted, cream that is. The Dazzlerz, helps add a bit playfulness to the layout, that I wanted to tell with this layout as well. I am always thinking about ways that my story can be told through the products I am putting onto my layouts.

I found tons of fun ephemera to tuck into the layers!!

I used both blue and black colored alphas like I did in my layers. I also really wanted my title to tell about what my journaling will be about. Which is how my son, loves videos games. He loves to watch everyone else play the games. He gets so excited while he watches, almost like he is playing, but he won’t play at all. LOL!! Gotta love our kids silly antics!!

I hope you had fun today!! Don’t forget to pull out those 6×6 pads out or some stash that has been sitting in your craft space. I find adding something new and fun, like this fun sequin pack can make an older collection much more current feeling.

Have an inspired week!! Can’t wait to see you here next week!!!

Here is one last look at the whole layout.
