Using Up Your Scraps!
Hola my scrappy friends! I’m back to share a couple quick matching projects you can create in no time flat.. ok well, in an hour!
This month jumped on the My Minds Eye September Challege to “Make It Work”. They based their challenge off Project Runaway and challenged us to create a card directly based off of our layout, using the same design elements, products, etc. The card and layout must be a matching pair!!
Last week, I shared a couple layouts for Memory Works Creative Friday using the new MME Honey collection. After creating last week, I wanted to use up every scrap of paper I could because, as you all know, I love My Minds Eye!
Here’s the matching layout & card with a gift card holder.
You can see that I repeated a few elements in both projects ~ the Studio Calico Wood Veneer Butterfly, ZVA Bling, glassine bags & doilies from My Etsy Shop, banners and of course the pretty MME Honey papers!
Details on the layout ~ I did some fussy cutting around the honeycomb paper and layered it over my 6×10″ piece of pink chevron paper. I chose a couple pictures of Sari from her last day of 4K in June of this year. I love how the blue headband really popped in the picture, so I colored 3 SC Wood Veneer Butterflies from my Etsy Shop with a Copic marker (any marker would be fine too). I added some bling give the butterflies a flight path and positioned them across my layout. I also ran my Glassine Bag through my Sizzix Texture Boutique to give it a small zig zag pattern to compliment the pink chevron paper. I added a little Dear Lizzy Journaling Tag from her Neapolitain Collection (in my Etsy Shop too). I finished it off with some fun yellow washi tape & Mr. Huey’s, also in my Etsy Shop 🙂
Now for the matching gift card holder and card ~ I used American Crafts white textured cardstock for my base and scraps left over from my previous layouts. I also used a scrap of American Crafts Kraft cardstock for my gift card holder inside the Glassine Bag. I wrapped a 3 1/2″ Doily around the side of my Glassine Bag and adhered with two sided tape. I also wrapped a small shipping tag around and added some MME tiny words stickers and a piece of MME Washi tape.
Here’s a close up of the gift card holder. I layered a doily, some banners made with scraps of paper & a SC Wood Veneer Butterfly, along with and bling and word stickers. Quick & easy!
And Ta-Da you’re done! These took me about an hour to put together, give or take 10 minutes 🙂
I hope you enjoyed my projects today! Many of the goodies I used today are ready to go in my Etsy Shop so stop in and shop with me!! The new MME Honey collection is also available now throught me (via Memory Works). Use this coupon code for 10% your order in my Etsy Shop. I ship wordwide and often.
