Creative Cards
Hello friends, I’m back today with a few cards & some texture tips. My cards are also being featured on the Memory Works Blog today for Creative Cards Saturday.
First up is using burlap string to add texture to your handmade cards without too much bulk… hint: the USPS doesn’t like bulk and will charge you extra to send your mail. Just a couple simple bows with burlap string wrapped around mini cards and you’ve already added some cute texture. I also used a couple ‘pop-dots’ to lift the cloud element off the card and inked the edges to add some definition. You’ll find this Natural Burlap String in My Etsy Shop.
Another fun and easy way to add some texture, and shine, is to use Ranger’s Glossy Accents. I smoothed some Glossy Accents onto my hand-cut banner pieces to spice up my Thank You card. The first two pictures are without any Glossy Accents. Look at the difference in the third picture!
Lastly, I like to add some texture and dimension to my cards by curling the edges of my paper. I used my aqua pen (by Stampin Up!) to run some water along the edges of my paper, then gently curled the paper with my fingers. You can’t find a much easier and cheaper technique!! Of course, I also inked the edges to distress it even more.
** This card was created using a card sketch from Let’s Scrap (sketch 03-16-11).
As always, thanks for stopping by today & remember to do something creative today!
Happy Scrappin’!

Great post on the MW blog and here! Love the cards, especially the last one. I’ll have to try that finger rolling. I do that on flowers but never thought of doing it on a mat or larger piece.
