Girls Just Wanna Have Sun
Happy Sunday everyone, Ali here, with a super sunny scraplift! We are devoting the entire week to scraplifting the fabulous Missy Whidden! Now let me tell you, that is a tall order and I was super nervous about this! But I actually really enjoyed it and I love the layout I created!
Here is the layout I chose to scraplift, I absolutely love everything about it! Missy has such a distinctive style, and it is totally her own! I wanted to do it justice, without just copying it completely.
I had these fun selfies of my mom, sister, and me at the pool. So I knew I wanted to use the new awesome echo park collection Summer Dreams. So instead of the large star die cuts, I went with suns! I started with some watercolors to create a background in the color scheme. Then I added the suns and machine stitched around them (which was definitely a task!) and I absolute love the look this creates!
After the background was complete it was so simple to add my photos and some layering behind them. I used one of the stickers from the collection as my title. And of course, the best part, sequins! I mixed one of the mini packs with Orange Blossom and sprinkled those around. Then I picked out a few of the light blues from the Ferris Wheel mix, just to tie it all together! Those little shells are perfect for summer scrapping, I just want to sprinkle them on everything!! Lastly, I typed my journaling and printed on some vellum. It is one of my favorite things to do, especially with a mixed media background, because I sometimes hate covering up all of that hard work!
As you can see, I tried to make this my own, but the inspiration from Missy definitely shines through!
Here are some close ups so you can see those amazing sequins up close, aren’t they fabulous?
Thanks for joining me for this scraplift week, be sure to come back next Sunday, I will have another Missy lift for you! And as always, save some money on your gorgeous sequins with this coupon code!
