Tuesday’s Talent with Pocono Pam: Hello Washi
Hola Spiegel Mom Scraps fans! Pocono Pam here with my second post as Jody’s guest designer for January. Hopefully, your new year has been going well and you have been meeting the goals and challenges you have set for yourselves.
My 2016 crafty goal is to create more cards. This January I have challenged myself to make cards that I have never created before (shaker, side step, gatefold, etc). I accomplished the shaker card in last week’s post. >>> CLICK HERE TO TAKE A PEEK. <<<< This week, I dared myself to work with Washi Tape, as I have never attempted to do so on a card.
For those of you unfamiliar with Washi Tape, it is a high quality masking tape made of rice paper. Look in any craft or office supply store and you will find it is available in many colors and designs. Washi Tape can be easily torn and repositioned. That is why I love it for my planners. But, I recently discovered that it can be written and stamped on. For this reason, I wanted to create a card.
Using the Skinny Washi Tape (Candy Land) and Funky Alphabet from Spiegel Mom Scraps Shop, I created this cute “Hello” card.
I already had this sweet Greeting Farms image Dee Dee colored and adhered to a Lawn Fawn Say Cheese die cut my stash. I thought the Washi Tape colors went perfectly with the image!
Here is how the card came together……
1-I matted an A2 card base with polka-dot paper which I distressed and inked with Worn Jeans.
2-I placed strips of the Candy Land and Funky Alphabet Washi Tapes from Spiegel Mom Scraps Shop vertically and horizontally centered on top of the polka-dot paper.
3-I Placed Dee Dee on top of the Washi Tape
4- Placing 2 strips of washi on an “ piece of scrap cardstock, I created banner. Added a string of cork hearts from the Spiegel Mom Scraps Shop . Layered on die cut.
5-Stamped Hello with Stazon Jet Black Ink. The ink does not smudge!
6-I added strips of Washi Tape inside and kept the card blank as it can be used for many occasions.
I had sooo much fun making this card that I made another.
This one came together very quickly. Here is how…….
1- I matted an A2 card base with white cardstock.
2- In the lower left side of the cardstock, I intersected 4 different colored strips of the Candy Land Washi Tape offered in Spiegel Mom Scraps Shop.
3-After adding pink Wink of Stella and a small piece of colored cardstock to a Studio Calico Wood Veneer Speech Bubble from the Spiegel Mom Scraps Shop, I placed it on the card near the lower left hand corner.
4-I added my favorite embellishments from the Spiegel Mom Scrap Shop….. two small cork hearts.
5- On the inside I placed strips on washi tape.
Thanks for taking a peek at my cards today! I had fun playing with washi and hope you give it a try too!
Don’t forget to stop by next week for another fun project!
