Tuesday’s Talent ~ Sarah McClellan in the House!!!

Hi SpiegelMomScraps fans!  My name is Sarah and I was thrilled when Jody asked me to be her guest designer for November!  I am a thirty-something mom of two girls from Minnesota.  I have been a traditional 12×12 scrapbooker since 2007 and started Project Life in January of 2014.  

For my first project, I did this beautiful Project Life double spread for Week 37 of 2015.  I used papers and stickers from the Crate Paper Wonder Collection.  I used some Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine and Amy Tangerine Goodness Thickers from American Crafts.  My date stamper is from Becky Higgins with Staz-on ink in black.

I have been enjoying using one specific collection of papers per month!  I think this keeps my months in Project Life looking cohesive.  But I find that many paper collections that come with ephemera and stickers are often lacking embellishments that are small enough to use on Project Life layouts.  That’s why I love SpiegelMomScrapShop!  Jody’s shop offers tons of embellishments that are just the right size! 

On my Week 37 title card, I layered a Gold Foil Doily, a shipping tag, Crate Paper Wonder ephemera, and Cloudy Day Cork shapes.    I embellished with enamel shapes, yellow Felt-Fetti Hearts,  Gold Garland Confetti, and Indian Summer Sequin mix.  Enamel dots can be expensive and a great way to save money scrapping is by using sequins in place of enamel dots!

I love to make embellishment clusters on my Project Life spreads like this one.  Here I used another Gold Foil Doily, Crate Paper Wonder ephemera, and stickers, along with a few Thickers. I embellished with Cloudy Days Cork, some Gold Garland Confetti, and Indian Summer Sequins.

In this cluster, I used Cork-Fetti Hearts, along with the Crate Paper ephemera.  When I start a Project Life layout, I try to chose a couple of busier papers from the collection and the rest are from the base colors.  Also, I almost always get the coordinating cut-apart sheets.  I like to layer on the ephemera and stickers and then repeat design elements across my Project Life layouts to create a cohesive look.  I also try to embellish with the same items and only use color shine on a couple of cards.  I do all of my journaling on my antique Underwood typewriter.
