Rainbow Shaker Layout
Hello Everyone! Sparkler Melly here today sharing a fun way to use up some stash to make some room for all the beautiful new mixes in the shop. I also used some Big Mama foam tape and tear tape from the shop! This was fun to create, you can’t go wrong with a rainbow, or all those sparkly sequins! Here’s a quick walk through on how I created this, and all the different mixes I pulled out.
Starting with this large cut file, I used reposition-able adhesive to lightly attach it to some plain white cardstock. Using a rainbow of oxide inks and dauber, I started coloring in and blending the heart. The cut file itself will go on a different layout, but for this one the cut file was used as a stencil. I went outside the lines purposely so the color would explode beyond the shakers I’m going to create.
There were a few mishaps with some ink, but it happens. It can be covered up or it’s a happy accident and adds character. Once this dried, I pulled out my Big Mama Foam tape, cut off strips. Using nonstick scissors I cut the 1/4 inch strips in half to 1/8 inch strips. Following the outline of the heart, placed the foam tape between all the colors. I didn’t worry too much about the center, I knew my picture was going to cover it, so I just needed to ensure that each color block was closed off to ensure I didn’t lose any sequins! This foam tape is super sticky! I love it! There were a few times it stuck to my fingers and I had to replace a piece, but the strength this foam tape has is amazing, and perfect for large scale shakers like this one!
Adding sequins! I love this part! Here is a list of all the mixes I used! Starting with the red: Because You Love Me(old), Melon Ball(older), Strawberry Shake(new), Orange Blossom(old), Orange Orange(older), Shine On & On(new), Sprinkling Kindness(old), Guac It Real Good (new), Is Is Spring Yet?(new), Ocean of Teal(new), Oceanside Breeze(new), Ice Castle(newer), and Purple Punch(new). The mixes that are still in the shop are linked! Pop on a sheet of Acetate, trimming the excess. Make sure you press firmly to ensure that it’s attached all the way around. You don’t have to press too hard because of the super sticky foam.
Next thing is my photo and title. I didn’t like the color of this particular set of thicker. So I used Nuvo Drops to match the different colors. I also used white Nuvo to cover up the foam tape so it was smooth and streamline, hiding the breaks in the tape. All that’s left now is adding all the embellishments. I decided to keep going with the rainbow. I pulled out a bunch of wood veneer shapes and painted them with Catherine Pooler inks. I colored way too many, however, like sequins, you can never have too many painted wood veneer pieces.
I must say, this being the first time I created a shaker like this, it turned out beautiful! I’m always afraid I add to much to my layouts and they look messy, but I suppose that’s just me. I love all the things and want to use them on everything. I hope you enjoyed this little pop of color and hope it inspires you to try something new. If you decide to try this.
