Make It Yours Monday~When I look to the Sky…
Hi everybody, and thank you for joining me for another Make it Yours Monday! This week, my inspiration layout is by the very talented Melinda Sweetman. It was just so clean and pretty that I knew I wanted to use it for a special layout.
And, that is exactly what I did. This layout was the inspiration behind this extremely special layout, to capture just some of my thoughts a week after I lost my Mom. She passed away 2 weeks ago today and the morning after, I caught a bit of blue sky in an otherwise grey, cloudy and dreary sky. I just had a feeling of calm and peace at the moment and it lasted long enough for me to catch a photo.
I started my layout by using the In the Navy Acri Tonez through the stars portion of the Heidi Swapp Confetti stencil in a diagonal line from the top right to bottom left corner. They dry super quick, so the wait time to move on was minimal! I then matted both my photos on some coordinating cardstock and vellum, as well as a pretty 4″ doily from the shop. I popped up my wallet size photo on some foam tape so it would stand out a bit more. I also added a a frame on the 4×6 photo to make the focal point of my photo, the pretty blue clearing in the sky, more noticeable.
I then turned to my journaling and title. For the title, I used thickers and added it to the left of the photos. I chose to use the title of the song I chose to play at her service as the title. It has a lot of meaning now, so I also used some of the lyrics to start my journaling under the photo. I then just wrote some works to sum up a bit of how I was feeling.
Then, the embellishments, my favorite part. I used some Night Of Navy Heart Felties as well as Cloudy Day felties to bring some softness and texture to the line of diagonal stars. I also used some Shooting Cork Stars and I Cork U Hearts to tie in my theme and fill the clusters in. Some of the flat blue sequins from the Cozy mix brought just the right amount of color and sparkle to finish off the main portion of the layout. I drew a sketchy line around the edge of the layout, sprinkled some gold Heidi Swapp Colorshine and mounted the entire page on a piece of Navy cardstock
This layout means a lot to me. It was the first layout since she has been gone and it was helpful to get some tough feeling out. So, if you have a subject or layout that is in your mind, I hope you will take some comfort and inspiration from this and get it done!
