Now for todays layout! This is one of my top 5 layout I’ve ever done. It took a little while to complete, but the effort was totally worth it. I got the idea from Audrey Yeager on Youtube, during her 12 days of Christmas videos (day one)
For the base of my layout, I used a piece of American Crafts White Cardstock and drew the cutfile I used with my Brother Scan N Cut (love that thing!!) and Misted the drawn on tree with some Bamboo Leaf Spritz from shimmerz to give a base color to the tree. Next, I stitched the entire design following the pattern I drew on. I stitched each “branch” using a 1/4″ green satin ribbon and a tapestry needle and connected each set of dots. It probably took me about an hour, but I did it in 2 sessions.
Then, I used the center of my Maraschino cardstock to back my photo. I adhered the photo to the left of my ribbon tree, tucking one of the corners under some of the ribbon. Some gold glitter washi finished off the mat and made the photo stand out.
It’s time to decorate the tree!!! I used the flat cream sequins from the new Plum Dreamsicle Mix to create my strands of pearls, just like my tree has every year. The Mermaid Green sequins really helped the tree sparkle and blended beautifully with my ribbon. To add some festive colors, I sprinkled the Gold Confetti sequins around like little gold ornaments hanging from the tree and the different reds in the New Cozy sequin mix just brought the tree to life like a set of lights!!! Every tree needs a beautiful topper, so I used a Chunky Cork Star to top off my tree. I added some foil glue and used gold foil sheets to give the star some sparkle while sitting high atop my ribbon tree!
I moved next to adding my title under my photo, and for that, I used some Jillibean soup tiny tile stickers in Avocado to spell out the “how, are, thy” and some gold Remark foil letters for the “lovely” and “branches” I covered the tree and photo with some scratch paper and misted some Gold Color Shine around the photo and some more bamboo leaf spritz over the tree to give each element a glow.
A few glittery holly leaves and enamel dots spread around to bring a touch more texture and a strip of glittery gold washi tape at the bottom to ground the tree was all my layout needed to feel finished, along with a bit of doodle-y boarder around the edge. I mounted the entire page on the rest of the Maraschino cardstock with some foam tape, because the ribbon on the back would not let it lay flat!
I am so happy with how this turned out. Every year, we have the same base look to our tree, with the angel, pearls and white/colored lights and now, we will have a way to remember this if we ever change the look, or for our girls to look back on and remember too.
Thank you for stopping by and joining us today! I hope you will take the chance to take your favorite holiday memory and capture it on a page. Make it yours and make it fun!!! And, dont forget about the wonderful sale over in the shop!!! Happy Monday!!!
