Make It Yours Monday~ Welcome Little One
Hello scrappy friends! Thanks for joining me for another Make It Yours Monday. This month, our theme has been circles and sketches, and this weeks sketch is SO fun and different!!!
To begin my layout, I trimmed down my white cardstock 1/4″ all around. Then, using the packaging technique, applied a light pink Shimmerz to the lower right corner of the page. This created a messy but fun area that my photo will sit in later on. Next, using a dinner plate from my kitchen, I traced 4 circles, making sure to overlap and off set them as a guide for my stitching. I took the page to my sewing machine and stitched over the lines (not very well!!!) using 4 colors of thread (navy, pink, teal and purple) that worked with the colors I’m using on the rest of the page.
After the circles were stitched, I began to work with my photo. I chose to mat my picture with a soft lilac and polka dot paper, then, to make it stand out, a slightly darker purple shade of cardstock. I added some foam tape to the back to make it stand out just a bit more and adhered it to the layout on the bottom right corner, slightly crooked, trying to follow the lines of the circle.
Instead of circles around the photo, I opted to go with hearts. Using my heart punches in various sized, I punched them from different pieces of pattern papers coordinating with the colors I had in the thread. I arranged them in a curve both above and below the photo, keeping the circle vibe going. To mimic the dotted circles on the sketch, I added some more hearts punched from vellum.
To bring in some more color and a dose of sparkle, I used the new Unicorns & Rainbows sequin mix, which also inspired my entire color pallet for this page. Going around the circle, I added these beautiful sequins all around the page, as well as by the title, that I added to the inner most circle, again, following the curve.
To finish my page, I matted the entire layout on a deep purple cardstock and stitched around the edges. A date stamps and extra splatters were the final touch.
I hope you enjoyed todays layout and will use this sketch as well! When your done, be sure to share it in the Spiegelmom Scraps Facebook group, 15 Minutes to Scrap with Spiegelmom Scraps!!!! AND, be sure to stop by the shop and grab some of the GREAT products used here, and make sure you
