Mixed Media With Karla – Keepin’ It Real Scraplift
Hi friends! Karla here today with a fun Mixed Media layout! Our theme this week is to scraplift the infamous Missy Whidden! She is so amazingly talented – I was a little intimidated to even attempt this!!
Here’s a look at Missy’s awesome scrapbook layout. You can check it out on Instagram HERE or watch her YouTube process video HERE.
I loved the mixed media circles she layered on, so I decided to try my Distress Paints using the same technique she showed in her video with the Shimmerz Paste-eez (which you can find in the SpiegelMom Scraps Store!!) It was fun to try a few new techniques and step outside my comfort zone! I think that’s important for everyone to do once in a while. I even decided to post a crazy face photo, and this Keepin’ It Real sticker from the Pink Paislee Take Me Away collection was the perfect title 😉 and the bright sequins from the Jaded Hearts, Neon Summer and Gotta Love Emoji’s mixes were just the right pop!
I used some Dylusions mists on my background, spraying on a piece of acetate and smooshing it onto my background in blue, green and purple colours. It was great to get them out of the drawer! Since my photos were very neutral I felt like it was the perfect opportunity to use lots of background colours.
I used some Shimelle Starshine stickers and added a bit of thread under my handcut paint blobs. After I first layered on the thread, I realized I had it in too much of a perfect circle, lol, so I had to mess it up a bit!
I layered my photos on some Hazel & Ruby printed tissue paper from my stash and then on top of some plain green tissue paper. I love the bit of texture that gives, and I popped up a few of the paint dabs to give some dimension.
Here’s a look at the fun sequins I used this week – Jaded Hearts, Neon Summer and Gotta Love Emoji’s!
