Creative Cards with Karla – Stitched Laundry Birthday Card!

Howdy friends! It’s Karla back today to share a fun stitched birthday card! Now, usually you wouldn’t associate laundry with FUN but when you combine the Lawn Fawn Loads of Fun stamps along with lots of SpiegelMom Scraps sequins, burlap string and felties, you can’t help but have fun!! Our theme this week is to add stitching to a project, so I got out my sewing machine and added a zigzag stitch over the Black May Arts Burlap String to add a little clothes line to hang my laundry on. I have lots of fun stitches that I’ve never even used on my machine, so I thought I’d try a cross stitch one along the bottom of the card. I love how that turned out, and I’ll definitely be using it more! I even grabbed some Kaisercraft Nesting Stitched Squares Dies and cut a background from some pink Shimelle Starshine paper.

Today I pulled out Fairy Garden, Be True 2 You and Jaded Hearts sequin mixes to use on my card. After I coloured my images with Jane Davenport coloured pencils and added some paper piecing with some Shimelle Starshine papers I had lots of fun adding these sequins!

I used one of the heart felties to do some handstitching on, doing a ‘blanket stitch’ around the edge, sewing on a button and adding sequins by stitching a ‘french knot’ into the center of each pretty little flower. A quick online search will show you lots of handstiches you can try!

Inside, I used another of the Kaisercraft Nesting Stitched Squares Dies, inked and stamped with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink.

The Heart Felties are now sold out! There are a few Felties left in the shop and they are being discontinued to make room for fun, new things. But don’t let that stop you from grabbing some felt and diecutting or handcutting your own to try some stitching techniques on!

 

I popped my cute laundry up with foam dots to add some dimension, and I can’t wait to give this to a special friend on their birthday! I’m sure I’ll even think about how much fun I had making this card while I’m doing real laundry later today 😉
