Sketch Challenge Entry
Sunday is always a bittersweet day for me… back to work tomorrow. But as I look back on my weekend, I’m always so grateful for my family time. Our girls are growing up so fast and I always try to capture those little moments, especialy when no one else knows but me.
When I started the layout, I had Sketchabilities in mind. This sketch is has lots of space for layering and embellishments… just my style 🙂 I decided to tone down the frilly layers, only because my hubby was in the picture too. I wanted Brad and Hannah’s special moment to stand out here, not all the extra layers I could have added. Here’s the sweet sketch I used as my jumping point.
This photo of my husband with Hannah on his shoulders was taken last summer at the Milwaukee Zoo. Its a prime example of one of those moments for me. I took the picture with my iPhone and posted to Instagram last summer with the water mark effect on it, so only Brad and Hannah are really in focus. The rest is hazy, just like the rest of summer, and details over time.
In this layout, I used my Amy Tangerine Yes, Please papers & those super cute Puffy Stickers, Studio Calico Sundrifter Die Cut Shapes, 2 Maggie Holmes Fabric Frames, Basic Grey Vellum Tape, Twine, Mr. Huey’s Heirloom Blue and a doily from my Etsy Shop. There are so many fun little shapes in the Sundrifter die cut package-triangles, feathers, speech bubbles, journaling spots and cards. They’re so cute!
I started by giving a good spritz of Mr. Huey’s right across the wood grain Amy Tangerine paper. Sometimes you just have to go for it with spray ink, all or nothing as they say. I used my foam adhesive under the little banners and strung my green bakers twine through the holes. I ended up playing around with the length of bakers twine and didn’t want to cut it off. I used some Aleene’s Tacky Glue to arrange it where I wanted it to stay, kind of fun and free-flowing, and glued parts of it down.
The last things I added were the Basic Grey Vellum Tapes ~ the orange chevrons and circles ~ around the layout to create another visual triangle. That’s it, now they’re all used up, yay!
Thank you for spending some time with me again today! I’m linking this post up with the current Sketchabilities challenge, so wish me luck!
See you soon for more summer scrappin’ inspiration!
