Heidi Swapp Mixed Company Blog Share is here!
Hello, hello Heidi Swapp and fans! Gee, I hope that not too assuming.. you know that the Heidi Swapp herself will swing by today!! Us scrappy girls can dream right?!! After all, the fabulous Maggie Holmes stopped by last month to say hi! I was like a little girl in a candy store when that happened and my poor husband thought I was the biggest dork in the world when I freaked out! Yes, I will proudly admit that I {who am usually very calm, cool and collected} freaked out when Maggie Holmes commented on my blog…so awesome!
Any-hoooo!! Welcome to our second blog share with Gia Lau of The Painted Crane, Erica Thompson of EricaRose Creates and Jenn Bidwell-Edwardson.! I’m so honored to be ‘hanging out’ with these ladies because they always inspire me to try new techniques and to be a better scrapper in general. This month’s challenge with our incredible Heidi Swapp Mixed Company and Color Magic kit is to use some round and our quote is:
“The world is round so that friendship may encircle it.”
I really love that Gia chose this quote for this month. No matter what amazing, crazy and sometimes awful things happen in this world, it will continue to go round. I think many of us can relate this to our everyday lives and it really hit home today for me. Few people know this because everything happened so fast the last 36 hours, but my Mom just had a terrible scare with cancer. I’ll spare the details here but surgery yesterday morning revealed she doesn’t have cancer… I don’ think I ever prayed so hard in my life for something!! My Mom isn’t just my Mom. She’s Nana to our daughters, wife to my incredible Dad for over 37 years, a sister, a daughter and one of the best friends this girl could ever ask for. One more thing she is.. feisty! That’s where I get it from 🙂 and I’m proud to say it! That being said, let’s spread some friendship love around the internet today and share our blog posts with YOUR friends and loved ones even if they aren’t “scrappers” as we affectionately call ourselves! We love to “Make Pretty Stuff” so let’s spread the joy!!
Here are my Heidi Swapp projects!! First up, my mini album. This wood veneer star mini wasn’t in my kit, but it WAS in my stash & screaming my name along with my Color Shine! I added some silver metallic sequins from my Etsy Shop {SpiegelMom Scrap Shop} too. These are a fabulous deal ~ 650 Sequins for $4.00 and I ship worldwide. TIP: I attach my sequins with my Aileen’s Tacky Glue. The overall design of this mini is pretty simple. I really wanted you see these fabulous Heidi Swapp resist papers!! They are so amazing to work with.
My first page of the mini is actually a collage of rub-ons from my stash (like 5 years old from Daisy D’s!) I didn’t really want a picture on this page for some reason so & decided to use one of the Color Magic sheets with my Gold Mr. Huey’s. This seriously turn out awesome! I just added spray ink, rub-ons and more SpiegelMom Scraps Sequins here! The hearts in the background were done with the fabulous 12×12′ Heidi Swapp hearts mask and more Mr. Huey’s gold spray ink. I think this mask will come out a whole lot in the future, just sayin’.
There are two pages left in my mini to fill up yet. I have some pictures in mind but want to do some more digging through my digi files this weekend before I choose. Now for my File folder layout. At first the file folders scared me… which I fully admitted to EricaRose Creates last week! LOL! Now, I’m in love!! I do need to get the nifty case for them now 🙂
You’ll notice lots of layering in the file folders… I really could have added more but had to force myself to just say no LOL! Plus, I’m just exhausted after the last 36 hour whirlwind around that darn C-word. I did find several more Heidi Swapp pretty things in my stash while I was working on my projects~ the pink circle bling and the little bitty bling in the matchbook! I was stoked to find those and add them to my Heidi Swapp kit. I also added some silver Stickles on top of the chevron Clear Pop accents along with right side {pointing to Abby’s hands in the running water}.
Finally, I’ll leave you with the third layout about my wedding which was 8 years ago!! This is one of my favorite photos of me and my guy. I used a foam brush to add my Glimmer Mists and Mr. Huey’s spray inks to the Color Resist paper and began adding some layers, with a sprinkling of more SpiegelMom Scraps Sequins!!
Here are a couple close ups. Don’t you love how those Deep Sea Blue Sequinsreally light up the layout!! All the sequins used on my projects are the latest additions to my Etsy Shop. Again, there are about 650 sequins in one package for only $4.00!! Check out all the colors and there are more on the way too!
I have to give a very special thank you to Gia, Erica and Jenn this month! I know they’ll inspire you just as they me. Please each of their blogs today too and leave them some love!! Each of their names is a direct link to their creative blogs.

Haven’t done much with folders over the years , cause I tend toward albums but am making one for my newest grandson this past week and your ideas are a big help . Thanks . Sorry to hear about your Mom , and glad to hear it is not cancer. We have been praying and praying for our little great grandson that has been fighting Ewing Scaroma for the last four years. Hopefully this last series of Chemo will give him a respite and get rid of this awful disease.
Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year.
Spiegel
Thank you for your sweet comment and well wishes for my Mom. She’s doing great post-surgery and almost back to normal.. We’re very blessed!! I’m praying for Ewing & for the Chemo to give him relief. As for scrapbooking, I’m more of a 12×12 & mini album scrapper, so the folder were a challenge for me. I had fun working outside my comfort zone, and working with anything Heidi rocks!!!
