Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone! Today I’m bringing back a little tutorial that I did a few years ago and still LOVE it! Below I have several step by step pictures on how I create some of my sequin shaker pockets. It’s super easy and fun! These little shaker pockets add a very fun element to you scrapbook pages, mini albums, Project Life and cards. Here’s what I started with. Pictured: Aleene’s Tackey Glue, mini glassine bag, Gold Garland Confetti Sequins and Fairytale Sequins.
In the photo gallery below, you can click on each photo to enlarge it. When you do, you’ll see that I turned my mini glassine bag upside down and cut the back open with one cut down the middle and two small cuts going towards the edges (by not all the way). Then, I randomly spread some Aleene’s Tacky glue along the inside and sprinkled one of my favorite sequins mixes, Fairytale!! Then, I put some glue along the top of the glassine on the inside so no sequins could sneak out then closed the back of the bag and taped it shut. Easy peasy!!
After creating this sequin shaker pocket I created this layout! I used the fabulous Heidi Swapp line, Hello Today. I have the full 12×12″ paper pad and love every single sheet! I used the yellow paper with dots as my background, then trimmed down the star paper to 11×11″. Since I already created a few things with this line, I had several decent sized pieces of patterned papers already cut so I used those to begin layering.
I added some fun pink doilies from Michael’s Arts and Crafts store, Maggie Holmes gold glitter Thickers, some stickers from Allison Kreft & Amy Tangerine and a few other little odds and ends 🙂 And here are two sizes of the glassine bags I have in my shop! These are by far the most popular for making my sequin shaker pockets, little treat bags, embellishment holders and more! Last Christmas I even made an Advent Calendar!
Thank you for spending your time with me today! I hope you’ll be creating some sequin shaker pockets of your own! Here are a few links to help get you started today! You can check out a fun YouTube video from my channel which shows you how I’ve created them in the past with confetti.
