Adding Contrast with Cork!
Hello everyone!
I cannot tell you how awesome it is to be creating recently! I’ve continued to be super busy stocking and packing new goodies for my Etsy Shop and designing some more fun stuff coming in May. I’m also continuing to burn through my scraps of left over kits and other purchases I made before Two Peas in a Bucket closed their cyber doors.. so sad!
And so now I digress to tonight’s layout! I used a hodgepodge of papers here from Echo Park, Dear Lizzy and another I’m not sure of anymore!! When I mix up a few different papers, sometimes I find it easier to scrap with a black and white photo. This doesn’t get much easier that a simple filter in Instagram! I have to say I have the best little models 🙂 Here’s a picture I snapped with my iPhone of Abby ‘reading’ us a bedtime story a couple weeks ago.
I’m always excited to create on a white card stock background too! A clean slate. This allows me to really stretch those scraps of patterned paper to the max! Take a closer look at the white card stock….
Yes, you see it now don’t you 🙂 I used a fun Kesi Art stencil with some Gesso and Distress Ink mixed together. I love how this turned out, just a hint of texture in the background without being overwhelming! Here are a couple more pics.
Another thing I really love to work into my layouts is some contrast. It doesn’t have to be black on white or anything that drastic.. but just some nice contrast. That’s where my love of cork and wood veneer comes into play. I’ve created a few new cork embellishments (some of which are self adhesive) like these fun clouds which will be in my shop this weekend!
Here are a couple more close ups for ya’ll. That adorable little wood veneer bicycle is from Chic Tags and those cute cork chevrons are in my shop as well.
And I cannot forget the BEAUTIFUL Shimelle wood veneer above from American Crafts!
Thanks so much for spending your time with me today. Now it’s time to decorate your Planners and set your alarms for May 2 & 3, 2015 for……
See ya very soon!
