Hey Girl Layout by Rachel Lowe:
Hello scrappy friends well I am thrilled to be here as a guest designer for the month of November.
Here is a little about me! I live in wonderful Perth, Australia. I am married with four kids, 1 dog and three cats and yes our house is loud and a bit crazy! I am a nurse by profession. I have been scrapping for 10 years now and I love the creative process and the balance it brings my life.
Here is my first layout that was inspired the gorgeous sequins that I received. I wanted to incorporate a butterfly shaker into my layout but when I found a die cut saying Hey Girl I decided to create another shaker. I have used the beautiful sequin mix Road Trips and Sunshine which is stunning with its muted turquoise with a hint of copper.
I am a bit of a cut file addict and use them on nearly all of my layouts whether as a feature or just to add a title. Here I have used a floral heart cut file by Paige Evans Silhouette Design Store. I have also used her latest collection Turn the Page because of the colours and butterflies which was what I had in mind to create.
Shakers are a delightful way to add a feature to your layout and you can never have enough bling! The butterfly shaker I have only layered enough to add my sequins and acetate so it did not seem to bulky and I knew I wanted to attach under my photo but I added several more paper layers on the Hey Girl square shaker as it was going to be my title.
I always add some form of sewing to my layouts whether it be hand sewing or machine sewing, I love the look and how it adds texture to layouts. I am also big on using foam tape and adding to my elements as I am not big on flat layouts. You will see on this layout there is machine sewing and lots of foam taped elements.
Here are some close up photos of my layout:
Thank you for stopping by today and see you next week xxx
