Gather-LGS + SMS Team Up Wk 2!
I’m loving all the projects that have come out of our sketch swap with Let’s Get Sketchy! They most certainly challenge me. When I’m not thinking it up in my own brain it feels more difficult.
I started with a hot pink Basic Grey paper. I love how it brings out the pink in that bouquet of flowers. I dripped some Vibez in Blushing Bride to add some interest to the paper. I opted to create my focal point with four 3 x 3 pieces, one picture and 3 squares of patterned paper. I made sure those squares coordinated without being too busy – I hoped to avoid that as best I could with this page. I cut square and rectangular scraps from various pieces of paper, mostly from the “Gather” collection by Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper & paired it with some ephemera from Pink Paislee “C’est La Vie.” The vellum came from my stash. I cut out everything before I adhered anything down. It was so important to play around with placement in order to get the balance correct. I wanted to incorporate some peachy-orange into my page and so I used some Dazzlers in Coral Me Crazy on a paper scrap. Once I knew where I wanted all my pieces, I adhered them down. I added some stitching to a few pieces to create dimension. I put pop dots on the backs of my 4 center pieces to ensure they stuck out well. I then layered that chipboard word, also from the Gather collection, on top. To finish off my page, I added sequins from the shop, a few plus sign chipboard pieces, and puffy gold pieces by Lawn Fawn. Those little phrases are some of my favorite embellishments ever. Occasionally, Crate Paper comes out with new ones and I absolutely adore them!
I love how this page turned out! For some reason, it seems almost like it’s a little “burnt” around the edges. I hope you’ll play along with some sketch challenges, we’ve got 2 more this month!
