So Loved – Early Valentine’s Post
Hey Friends!
You can probably tell by my layouts that I don’t have kids yet.. they generally only feature my husband and my dogs. I was inspired by this cozy picture of my husband and I to create a sweet layout just a few weeks early. Not to mention, there was a new sequin mix that I had fun plans for.
I knew I wanted to use strips of paper in combination with some paint streaks to create a vertical backdrop for my picture. I used a thick brush to paint the yellow and teal stripes. Once they dried, I chose the patterned paper + vellum I wanted to use too. I went with that bold paper from Dear Lizzy’s Saturday collection and paired it with some smaller patterned paper from my stash.
Once I had my paper in place I determined where I wanted my stitched sequin lines to go. This accent was my vision behind the entire layout! I used sequins from the shop (here + here). You can use this technique with any sequins as long as you adhere them down first. I think stitching over sequins creates a great finished look.
Once I had done this, I matted my picture on white and began playing around with my placement. I knew I wanted my picture to pop well and all of my embellishments to carry the vertical trend. Most embellishments are AC thickers
I combined some alphas with “loved” to create my title and added a few white heart felties. I wanted to balance out the bright colors of the background with something more subtle.
I really love how this project turned out! I’m so happy with my decision to use a 9 x 12 project life album so 12 x 12 papers can easily be cut down and used for layouts like these. I hope you’ll try stitching some sequins. Thanks for stopping by!
