What About Wednesday: Lisa’s Sketch Challenge
Aloha Sparklers!! I hope your week has been crafty and going well. It’s always challenging to balance craftiness and all the adult things that need to get done. Especially near school time.
This week I thought it would be fun to take on the Challenge that Lisa has posted in the SMS Facebook Group. If you don’t remember her challenge here is all the details…It’s a 3-2-1 Challenge. 3 embellishments, sequins, doilies and a banner
2 colors (from the mood board, pinks and blues)
1 sketch
The Theme is Your Bucket List. Something you dream of doing one day but have not dont yet.
Of Course I am really bad about sticking to the rules when it comes to scrapbooking. Some of us are totally like that, we have to break all the rules, no matter what they are?!! Some of us have to follow the rules right to the letter too. The thing I love the most about scrapbooking is that it works well for both camps of people too. Whether you are a rule follower or like me a rule bender. At the end of the day are you happy when you are creating and Are you documenting the memories you want to remember that is all that matters!!
Here is a quick look at the sketch. I used this loosely to spark inspiration for my layout.
I went on this tangent up above because I didn’t follow the rules of the challenge exactly. First for the banner, I used crape paper to create texture across my layout.
Instead of a doily I used tissue paper. I had this tissue paper that matched perfectly the colors I was wanting to use. I think you will agree it was a good idea.
I used the Passion Flower Sequin pack from the store on this layout. This pack was the colors of the mood board and started my process of making this layout. It was the first thing I picked out.
For embellishments I used tons of hearts, some circle elements, and a metal clip. I mixed up the hearts by using puffy stickers, vellum and cardstock ones. The circle elements include a flair button, cardstock circles. even some of the puffy stickers with hearts were circles. Last I added a metal clip on one of my photos. It looks so cute tucked in the layers of tissue paper, doesn’t it?!
Doesn’t those staples look so cool near this cluster of hearts?
And I love the addition of gold throughout my layout.
These colors are so beautiful aren’t they?! Perfect for the photos that I choose.
For the colors in the mood board are so pretty. I did use more of a teal than blue. I also added gray to the mix of colors, to accent the pink and teal. In the mood board there was a photo of a castle at dusk, and I loved the dark shadows in that photo.
Another thing I detoured from was the bucket list interpretation. Lisa asked us to scrap somewhere we haven’t been but want to go. I actually picked pictures of my new scrap room area. In our old house I had to scrap in the living room. I have never had my own scrap room and when we first looked at this house and saw all the windows I knew it would be perfect for my scrap room. Thankfully we were able to buy that house and I now I have my very own scrap room.
I talked also about how excited I am to make my room pretty!! Because I am, it is a process because moving into a new house so many places need attention, but I look forward to making this scrap room mine and all mine throughout the years. I look forward to all the memories I get to scrapbook in this beautiful room with windows and during the summer flowers from my yard!!
Here is a look at some of the journaling..
As you can see I moved the second photo and the title too. I really thought that my photo looked better on the left side where there was more open space on the photo to overlap them. That created some boxy space at the bottom which was perfect for the title and little embellishment cluster.
I hope you were inspired today. I also hope you check out the Facebook Group and look at the challenge Lisa created for the month. Play along and share your layout with us!! Challenges are such a fun way to mix things up with how you decide what to document or make!
Here is the completed layout I made for the challenge!!
See you later Sparklers!!
