Creative Cards With Karla – Masculine Congrats!

Hello friends! Karla here today with one last retro card in keeping with our theme this month – Take It Back June! I wanted to do a masculine card today, and I love playing around with Distress Oxide Inks and Distress Inks so I decided to start with an inky tag. I used sequins from the Evergreen Bough and Free Spirit sequin mixes to embellish the card. I love choosing sequin colours based on my backgrounds – even mixing and matching different mixes!

Here’s a look at the fun background I created on this tag using my Distress Inks and Oxides by smooshing them on a craft mat, spritzing with water and then dabbing the tag in the ink several times. I used my sponging tool to add a little colour over top of everything, holding a film stencil in place while inking with brown Distress Ink. I love the effect dripping water on top adds at the end!

I used some of my favourite Burlap String from the SMS shop! I added it to the top of the tag and then used it to tie on a wooden button. For a background paper I chose this fun 3D glasses print from the 6×6 For The Boys paper pad from Your Next Stamp. I love the way the film strip stencil, the glasses and the TV all tie together!

I added Emerald Creek Weathered Wood embossing powder to the edges of my focal image as well as inside the card on the beautiful stamped sentiment from Your Next Stamp.
