Scrapbooking with Karla – Hot Chocolate Weather Layout!
Hello! It’s Karla here today with a fun, snowy layout using the new free cutfiles and two beautiful new sequin mixes – Roadtrips & Sunshine and Dreamland! I have always loved combining blues and pinks for winter and even holiday colour schemes, and since the hat my daughter was wearing was pink, I thought what better reason to add some pink snowflakes and sequins to my layout! Last week I used the sketch (shown below) very closely, but this week I decided to use it more as a starting point for inspiration. I grabbed some Kaisercraft circle diecuts (on sale!!) to cut circular frames and layered my photo on top. I love matting my photo with several layers of coordinating papers, but I do cheat a little and only use an L shape of the patterned paper instead of a whole rectangle to be thrifty 😉
I always love the stickers that come with the collections, but I never seem to use them enough! This skating polar bear in the Echo Park Hello Winter collection was just too cute to pass up, and I popped him up on foam dots beside the Let It Snow sticker. I sponged pink Distress Oxide ink on the white snowflake diecuts and then embossed them with Emerald Creek Soft Fallen Snow embossing powder, which gives a lovely puffy effect while still showing the pink underneath.
I diecut the hot chocolate title once with the grey and white polkadot paper and then just the cup with another patterned paper from this collection, using my Cricut Explore. I love how the sequins in these two collections could be used for so many occasions, but the colours worked so perfectly with this snowy layout!
Here’s a look at these gorgeous new sequin mixes – Roadtrips & Sunshine and Dreamland!
… And here’s this week’s sketch. It’s fun to look back through the last few posts to see all the different and amazing ideas everyone has come up with using this sketch.
