Scrappy Blog Tour
Hello my friends! Have you heard of the Scrappy Blog Tours going on right now? Well, I was lucky enough to be tagged by the ever-so-talented Erica Thompson of EricaRose Creates last Monday! After Erica tagged me, it was my turn to join in and then tag 3 more scrappy bloggers!! Fun right!?? So here we go, I’m tagging…..
Lynn Darda Kat Benjamin Caroli Schulz
Kat and Caroli are two of the very talented new Clique Kits Design Team members and Lynn is fabulously talented card maker from our Memory Works days :)) I’ve really missed blogging along with Lynn!! I’m so happy all these ladies have accepted my challenge for posting next Monday! So, let’s get on the scrappy tour questions!
1. What am I working on right now?
I’ve been working on linking up to some recent challenges out there, including Clique Kits first monthly challenge, Anything Goes!! If you haven’t heard, go link up!! I’m also linking up to the Creative Scrappers Sketch #277 challenge this month using my Study Abroad kit. Check out this sketch and my Study Abroad layout.
2. How long does it take me to create a project?
To create a layout, it takes me anywhere from 25 minutes to over an hour. It really just depends on how quickly things come together and whether or not I’m feelin’ it. You know what I mean 🙂 One of my favorite things to create is mini albums, but those take several hours. When I create a mini album, I’ll plan out what papers I’m using and basic embellishments. I usually end up cutting a bunch of die cuts, not really knowing what I’m going to use!
3. What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?
Hands down, my Clique Kit and all the goodies from the Clique Kits online shop!! We have hand picked coordinating add-on items in our School Store, some even handmade and exclusive to CK!
4. How does my writing and creating process work?
It depends… big help right lol! Seriously though, I go back and forth between starting with my photos and starting with my Clique Kit or other papers in my stash. Lately, I’ve been starting with my monthly Clique Kit and pulling photos from there. Sometimes, especially this month, I’ll even dress my girls to match the colors in my kit. I can’t be the only one who does this either!! The thing is, my Clique Kit is so complete!!! It’s full of fabulous papers and it’s not skimpy on embellishments at all! Gotta love that scrappers!!
5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired?
My girls always inspire me in many ways, especially to keep up with my photography. They are always moving and on the go! I take a lot, I mean a lot of photos of them. Many of those photos do stay on the computer, organized by date, but I also print a lot as well. 209 yesterday!!
As far as creative inspiration, I check out the social media sites like Instagram and Pinterest, as well as the manufacturers sites to keep on the trends and new products. Many times though, I’ll Pin something and won’t go back to it for months. As you can see, one of my inspirations is using sketches too!
6. What is my signature style?
Generally, I like to add lots of layers, texture and dimension. I do this by adding my favorite May Arts Burlap String, paints, sequins, gesso, foam adhesive, wood veneers and other techniques.
Well, that the Scrappy Blog Tour in a nutshell! I hope you enjoyed the your and interview. Now, I’ll leave you with a few more of my recent projects!!
Thank you so much for spending you time with me today!! See you this Wednesday for the Clique Kits and The Cut Shoppe blog hop!!
