Summer Smiles with Ali
Hey scrappers! It’s Ali here, this week we are scraplifting Jenn Gagne. I chose this colorful layout, I love the diagonal design with the doily center, so much fun!
For my layout I started with picking my paper for my layers and used a punch to create a doily-like layer in each of the patterned papers I was chose. Once I finished the layers for the center I mixed up some watercolors to match. I also punched some 1 inch circles to emulate that diagonal design from Jenn’s original. I stuck those down and painted right on top of them. When my paint dried, I removed the circles. I love the end result, it was so quick and easy, but it added a lot of interest to the background.
When my watercolor background was dry, I added my layers, my photo and a title. I used the “summer” banner that went with the Echo Park Summer Dreams collection and the “smiles” thicker (I believe from Amy Tan). When it came time to add the sequins, it was super easy to choose, Orange Blossom was perfect for my orangey side, and Ferris Wheel was great for my teal side! Plus, these two mixes are some of my most favorite, so it was a no brainer! A few stickers and embellishments in matching colors and this layout was done. I love quick layouts. This one was so fast. One of my favorite ways to create a quick layout is by picking a few colors to work with, and grouping paper, embellishments, and sequins by color.
Thanks for great inspiration Jenn! Hope you all enjoyed this summery layout! It’s still summer here in Texas, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for Fall soon!
