Tuesday’s Talent – Celebrate!
Hi everyone! It’s your July guest designer Melissa Renkawitz, back again with another installment of Tuesday’s Talent!
My challenge for this week was to document a birthday that I normally wouldn’t. After giving it some thought, I came to realize that our dog Oliver is a HUGE part of our family, but somehow doesn’t get celebrated as such… so this theme was a great inspiration to show him some love! And as it turns out, his birthday is this month!
I created this layout as an 8.5×11, because I plan to insert it into my Project Life album, and I like those occasional inserts to be smaller than 12×12.
I printed a few smaller photos from when Oliver was a puppy in black and white, so that my “current” photo would stand out. To help anchor these on the page, I stitched a small strip of patterned paper (from Pinkfresh Studios) down the left side margin. It’s simple, but I like the detail it adds- especially with this metallic copper thread.
Tucked under the top photos, I added a small glassine bag with SMS sequins from the “Sparkle Power” mix. Spilling out from the bag, I added a scattering of more sequins down the right side of the page. Over top of the bag, I placed my journaling which I typed on the computer and cut into strips.
To the lower right corner of the photo I added a few puffy stickers, for some extra color and dimension.
Below the photo, I added my title using a combination of an acrylic piece (from ColorCast Designs) and acetate letters (also from Pinkfresh Studios) which I stitched in place.
And that’s about it for today’s layout. It was such a fun challenge to document a birthday I normally wouldn’t! Go hop on over to the SMS shop and pick up some sequins to document your own birthday layout!!!
