Make It Yours Monday: A Sketch with Crafty Meggy

Hello SMS fans!! I hope you’re all having a great Monday so far! Today, I thought it would be fun to use the sketch that Laura made for this months challenge over in the facebook group. To stick with the theme of ‘Make It Yours’ I decided to tweak the sketch a little bit to make it more me.

This is the sketch that Laura made:

I really love how simple it is and I wanted to stick with the simplicity, but add a few big layers to the layout as well.

So here’s my take on the sketch. I really love the end result!

Before I started this layout I knew I wanted to use some of the new fall sequin mixes. They’re just so yummy! I settled on using 2 different mixes for this layout, Autumn Joy and A Day in the Woods.

The sketch called for stitching or some sort of decoration in the top right corner and bottom left corner so I decided to use sequins to bring in this part of the sketch. At first I wasn’t quite sure how much I’d really like it, but in the end I think it turned out pretty good. I also decided to put my date in the top right corner with sequins to seperate the month, day, year.

I didn’t want to do too much journaling on the page itself because I will have a companion page that I make about their relationship as best friends so I kept the journaling simple and to the point in the bottom left hand corner with the sequins.

Here’s a better view of the whole photo cluster. I had fun with this sketch and using bigger layers to make it my own. I love using doilies in my scrapbooking and the large glassine bag fit in as another big layer as well. You can find these two products in the store as well.
