Hello there! It is freeeeezing here in Sacramento and I for one do not care for it. I grew up on the east coast, New York to be exact and it as colder there! Lately we have been experiencing a bit of colder weather and bundling has been sounding pretty good lately! So this photo of my grandchildren was taken in November just before it started getting cold and they are in short sleeve shirts and it so reminded me that spring will be here just wait it out! Lol
On this layout I am using some of my favorite embellishments called Love Beats Mix and i just love the way this layout came out with them just smiling away and looking very happy, that’s before the cold, Lol.
I also used a tool that I have not used in a while, the We R Memory Keepers Sew Ribbon tool. That is how I got the red ribbon on the right threaded through the paper.
I was also able to use the cut files from a previous kit and I finally found a home for them on this layout. The journaling is on the back of the layout because I did not want to mess up the look of the layout.
I used some papers from Studio Calico and cut it into 4 strips and used them to stick the die cuts into the strips.
Love how this looks! I have wanted to find a home for these die cuts and I just love the way this comes out on the layout!
Love the look of the Love Beats Mix and how the heart shape ones look! They are so red and they provide a nice pop of color on the layout. Below I just happen to have a die cut saying Heartbeat, which matched the heart shaped sequins.
Thank you so much for stopping by and be sure to check out the SpiegelMom Scraps shop for some awesome sequin mixes! Be sure to use Felicia15 to get your 15% discount on your order! Have an awesome day!! Also be sure to check out the specials below!
Hello friends! Katty Miranda here to share a 12×12 layout. I am scrapbooking two photos of my older son on the day of his 5th grade graduation. I love these two pictures. He looks so grown up. I began with white cardstock and an Americana stencil called Pixelated. I used a navy texture paste and the Shimmerz from the shop in Sea U in the Mornin. I also lined up the Alma Mater sequin mix with the stencil work. I then layered a few patterned papers from the Kaisercraft Finders Keepers paper pad behind my photo and used one of the Glassine Bags behind my photo to create a pocket for hidden journaling.
I used some strips of a navy heart patterned paper on top and bottom of my photo. Finally I used some Heidi Swapp Blue glitter foam alphas to write out my tittle.
I love how it turned out.
There is a process video if you’d like to watch :https://youtu.be/G3OvUdGHQ9M
Hello everyone! Jody here again with another layout using metal dies to create the look of using an electronic die cutting machine. Last weeks layout used the circle stitched die set from Kaiserkraft, which I just LOVE! It’s different than the other stitched dies on the market because the stitches are on the circle that is die cut out, and not on the negative part, or circle punched in the cardstock/paper. You can see the faux stitching on my die cut journaling circle.
Instead of using just one type of Kaiserkraft metal die, I used a couple! I used the Nesting Stitched Circles and the Icons metal dies to create my layout, along with the fabulous Pink Paislee Fancy Free collection, sequins from the shop, 2 glassine bags and some Amy Tangerine Thickers words.
To create this look on your page, you’ll need a couple things: A Big Shot or similar die cutting machine and your favorite metal dies! Since a 12×12″ sheet of cardstock or paper won’t fit through a Big Shot, you’ll need to cut your cardstock or paper down to either 6×12″ or 5.75×5.75″, as I did today. I wanted to mount them onto a piece of white American Crafts Cardstock to really help it pop. I easily could have left my paper 6×12″ but I wanted the faint look of the grid in the background so I cut them down to 5.75 by 5.75″ so the white cardstock would show around the edges of my layout. To get the placement I wanted, I simply played with where the die cut circles to be on my layout. After I had those placed where I like them, I added the Kaiserkraft Icon dies as accents. Tip: When running the metal dies through my Big Shot, I used a small piece of washi tape to keep them in place.
After I had everything die cut out, I create some shaker windows with glassine bags and sequins. This was super easy to do! I used a large glassine bag for the two circles on the upper right of the layout and amedium glassine bag behind the largest circle. To keep some of the Magical Ocean sequins stuck throughout the circle (so they didn’t all fall to the bottom) I opened up the bag and drizzled some tacky glue inside. Then, I just poured in the desired amount of sequins to fill the space. This next step is pretty technical.. I smooshed around the sequins until they were inside the circle where the peaked through the die cut window. Super technical right! LOL! To finish it off, I folded the glassine bag over and sealed it with some tacky glue as well and then adhered it to the back of the 6×6″ Fancy Free paper. I repeated this for the other die cut circle using the Spring Blooms sequin mix.
For the other two sections, I used the super cute Icon dies to create the design elements and backed them with scraps of Pink Paislee Fancy Free papers to compliment the messy layers behind my photo. I used both the negative space from the Icon dies and the die cuts they punched out. Using dies is a great way to get so much more out of your papers and really stretch your stash! Just think of all the possibilities!

Hello everyone. Katty here to share another 12×12 Scrapbooking layout. Today I am scrapbooking a lovely photo taken of my neice and sister in law the day after my niece was born. I absolutely love this photo. I began with an older Pink Paislee stencil by Christy Tomlinson. I used some of my lovely Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Coral me Crazy, Dreamscicle, Pucker up Pink and Tutti Frutti and added some leaves in a circular pattern alternating the colors. I also used the Lemon Drop Yellow at the tip of the leaves to add some flowers from the same stencil.
I added some leaf die cuts which I cut out of my Silhouette Cameo in between the leaves I had stenciled on. I added some sequins from the Peachy Sherbet mix down the center of some of the leaves. I also added some of the Cork-Fetti Hearts and a Chunky Cork Heart above my photo.
I added 2 wood pieces from the Studio Calico wood veneer Circles which I colored with my gelatos and some tangled thread behind them. To finish the layout I added my tittle, I used American Crafts Dazzle Cork Thickers to write out a simple “Hello” and I used an Ombre Pink Stripe paper from the Crate Paper Hello Love collection to mat the whole layout. I had that Ombre paper just peeking out on the sides of the layout.
You can check out my process video if you’d like. 🙂
Hi girls, Lea here… Today is my day, in the true sense of the word. Today is my birthday and I wanted to celebrate what has always accompanied my life: my love for painting and what I always carry with me: a travel set of watercolors and a few brush.
Hi all, Lea’s here… I found a new small passion and it’s for ATCs. Classic cards have always made me a kind of creative emptiness, but it does not happen with the ATCs, not at all! I’m really enjoying it and this week I made two on the theme “Take a picture”.
I still used white canvas on which I spread a layer of clear medium gel.The first layer I did is a stenciled one: i use a bright Shimmers paint, Dreamscicle; I continued with some watercolor paint. When dried I use several stamps and washi tape.
On each of the ATCs I created a focal point using various levels of patterned paper, I added some twineand on the top two wooden cameras from Studio Calico. I also added some sequins from Jack O Lantern mix ( perfect for Hallowen, but it fits perfectly with my color combo!). Finally the little titles: I stamped two different labels on the same patterned paper and then, on each, I attached “smile” and “say cheese” made with Dymo. … I wrappedevery label with the colored thread, I added below the thickness and I have applied on each card.
Hello everyone, I’m here to show you what I made this week with the beautiful products you can find in our shop.
For this layout I used a beautiful patterned paper: I used for background Dazzlerz Licorice stick with a stencil and I did some circle with Sea U in the morning to give a textured and sparkling touch , thanks to the texture of these gorgeous colors. The next step was to create a base for the photo: an articulated level game with patterned paper, and other items such as: the glassine bags (in one of the two I put some sequins from Mint Chip mix, the same ones that I used also in the background), a white tag, a white doily, cotton yarn, cork hearts and a small wooden camera. Finally I added the photos I slightly thickened. I completed it all by adding splashes of various colors (white, black, gold and teal zircon).
Hello everyone! Jody here today with a layout share & a little Design Team sneak peak!! First up, my layout. These last several weeks have been crazy busy for me which led me to create my first creative group on Facebook. It’s called “15 Minutes 2 Scrap” and it’s deticated to carving out time in our busy lives to breathe and create, even if it’s just for 5 minutes. This is seriously the only way I get anything done these days between working full time outside my home, family priorities, building our new home, running my small business & managing whatever else life throws my way. Sometimes all I need is 5 or 10 minutes to decompress by crafting a little. That’s exactly how this layout came together over a few days. 5 minutes at a time! I used some Webster’s Pages paper & stickers from my stash, Chic Tags & Studio Calico wood veneers, Recollections Kraft heart stickers, Pink Paislee white rubber title “travel” and a Kraft heart from American Crafts.
I also positioned a tiny yellow heart sticker in the middle of our youngest daughter Abby and my “Pa” right onto my photo. I love doing this on photos at times, like in this case to show a special relationship. I love the look of natural Kraft with these muted colors in the papers. It’s just bold enough to stand out but it’s not overbearing. Thanks so much for stopping by tonight! I hope you were inspired to try this combo sometime. Feel free to join the Facebook group by clicking HERE! I’d love to see you over there! Lastly, here’s a peak at a few projects submitted by my new Sparklers Design Team! Can you name the designers??
See you soon! Design Team reveal will be the week of January 17th!! Get ready to be wowed!!
Hello everyone! Jody here today with a few of my favorite layouts and projects that feature wood veneers! These embellishments have been a favorite of mine since they hit the scrapbooking scene several years ago. I use them A LOT!! They’re versatile, neutral and add a perfect amount of texture for this embellishment lovin’ gal.
Here are few of my favorites!
I hope you have enjoyed some of my favorite wood veneer projects. To celebrate my love of wood veneers, I’m having a big blow out sale in my Etsy Shop right now, no coupon code needed!! All the wood veneers are only $2.25! This sale is to prepare for a big announcement coming in January!!! I cannot wait to share it, but until then enjoy the deals you’ll get in my Etsy shop!
Today we are bidding farewell to Ka Slagoski, our Tuesday’s Talent this month. I have seriously enjoyed Ka’s posts and every little detail on her cards! Thank you so much Ka. I’m forever your fan! I hope everyone enjoys, comments and shares Ka’s final guest designer post today.

For today’s post, I made a birthday card with a matching birthday tag. I absolutely adore owls and think they are just some of the cutest critters. I decided to use the adorable owls images from the “Hoo Loves You” set from Whimsy Stamps to create today’s projects. I started the card by die-cutting a white stitched rectangle panel and masking the stitched edges with masking tape. I then, placed a Heidi Swapp Stencil over it and applied some mint ink all over the entire panel. I added some gray ink by lightly sponging around the edges. To create the gray frame, I used the chisel end of a T4 Copic Marker to color in the masked stitches edges. This panel was adhered to a lavender card base. Next, I stamped the owls in gray ink and colored them with Copic Markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I popped the owls up using foam dimensional adhesives and added an aqua chevron twill ribbon to ground them. I pulled out a Studio Calico Speech Bubble Wood Veneer and stamped “have a” and “birthday” to the speech bubble in black ink and then popped the speech bubble with foam dimensional adhesive. As a finishing touch, I scattered some sequins from the Sunny Day Sequins and Blue Lagoon Sequins Mix from SpeigelMom Etsy Shop. I thought it be fun to create a matching tag for the birthday card above. I did some stencil work on one of the SpiegelMom Scraps Medium Shipping Tag and matted it with a gray cardstock. I customized the “woo-hoo!” sentiment using Avery Elle Elle’s Alphas and stamped the sentiment from Newton’s Nook Designs Newton’s Birthday Bash set. The owl and plum chevron twill ribbon were popped with foam dimensional adhesives. I finished the tag by adding the same mix of sequins as the card and tying yellow baker’s twine on top from SpiegelMom Scraps Etsy Shop.
I just love how this card and tag turned out! I hope you like them too and were inspired by today’s post! Thanks again for stopping by and don’t forget to stop by my blog. for the full list of supplies used to create today’s projects!
Hello everyone! My name is Ka and I am beyond thrilled and honored to be a guest designer for Spiegelmom Scraps! I want to thank Jody for inviting me to guest design here and for all the awesome products she given me to create with. Every Tuesday, I’ll be sharing a card or two here for the month of September. Woo-hoo! Let me get started by sharing a little information about me, then we’ll move on to the cards. I am a longtime papercrafter who have dabbled in many forms of paper crafts, but my true passion is creating cute and whimsical cards. When I’m not paper-crafting, you’ll find me watching my favorite comedy TV shows, playing games at Dave & Buster, playing tennis, and hanging out with my husband, family and friends. 🙂
Now, let’s move on to today’s cards. This first card was so much fun to create. I fell in love with the Shimmerz Paint Paste when I was playing with it. I think I may just need one in every color! 😉
“Hello, Sunshine” Card
I started this card off by placing My Favorite Things Sunray Stencil over the white cardstock and sponged Mustard Seed distress ink, going outward from dark to light. Then, I rotated the stencil and filled in the gap by spreading the Shimmerz Paint Dazzlerz Lemon Drop Yellow paste with a long plastic palette knife. I set that aside to dry.
Once that was dried, I randomly added someSpiegelmom Scraps Glossy Black Sequinsand some Pretty Pink Posh metallic sequins. I stamped the sentiment using Avery Elle Elle’s Alphas and cut them into small strips. I added a strip of One Way Arrow washi tape to the left side. I finished this card by popping the sunray panel up on the card base with foam dimensional adhesives.
“You’re Awesome” Card
This next card, I decided to play with punches and patterns. When I first saw the Studio Calico Stars Wood Veneers in Spiegelmom Esty shop, I knew I wanted to make something with them. I decided to create a grid by scoring the cardstocks into thirds. Then I punched out some stars in 3 different patterned papers using a small star punch. I also punched out a tag with a scallop tag punch and stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Quite the Pair set and white heat embossed the sentiment. Next, I adhered all the stars on the grid and sew some of the Maya Arts Burlap Strings from Spiegelmom Scraps Etsy Shop to the stars. Then, I added some Studio Calico Tiny Stars Wood Veneers on top of the stars for a fun look. The scalloped tag was popped up with dimensional adhesives and a green bow was tied on top. I finished the card off by popping the entire panel with foam dimensional adhesives onto a navy card base.
I’m so excited about this month’s Tuesday’s Talent you guys! I found this talented lady in my own backyard of Southeastern Wisconsin. So awesome! Hi, scrappy friends…I just love these pocket letters!! They are so much fun to create and are quick and easy, too!! I really enjoyed using the wonderful goodies atSpiegelMom Scraps
Hmmm, I wonder who I will give this one to….we will see!! Let’s see some detail of these pockets. Oh, I just love those doilies and wood veneers!!
As you look at the upper left and lower right corners, you may notice a bit of a glare. That is because I put some plastic in the pocket to hold some embellishments. By the way, I love those, too!!
Of course you can see that I picked every color of sequins I could find to fill the pockets with. I also wrote a personal note in the center….those cute doilies come in handy again 🙂
Here are the supplies I had fun using!! If you do not see any of the supplies listed right away, it could be because they are in those hidden pockets I told you about….so fun!!
Wow!! Thank you so much Renee! Your Pocket Letter is beautiful! In case some of you missed this, I’m having a big Pocket Letter Swap on Facebook and would LOVE to have you join in the creative fun! Check out my event HERE and leave a comment to get yourself signed up. You can sign up through July 1st and swap partners will be assigned and posted July 3rd! See ya there!
Hi, there, scrappy friends….I hope everyone had a fun weekend. Are you ready to start scrappin’….I bet some of you already have. Here is what I have been up to. I decided to create another pocket page for one for one of my scrapbooks. As always, it was fun playing with my embellishments from SpiegelMom Scraps Ok, let’s get started. Here is the completed layout; then, I will get into the details.
It is always fun scrapping pics of my kids when they were younger. I definitely have plenty of those pics to scrap yet. This is great for Jody’s 15 minutes a day plan 🙂 Speaking of a plan, here is the first detail I wanted to include. It was fun watching my children together as they shared my daughter’s 7th birthday.
Oh, and I just love the heart with all of those lovely sentiments. I really like the way it fits in the pocket so nicely.
Well, you know how much I adore the sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps….I had to use them on this layout, too. Before I show you the detail shot, I would like to share how sequins have become a part of our home. My hubby found some on the floor in our kitchen and and asked me if I needed these. I told my hubby that I definitly did….I think he gets the picture….really, what kitchen floor doesn’t need a bit of sparkle, right?
I really had good time creating this layout. I sure hope that you have some time for creating yourselves this week. Oh, I would love to hear!! I will be back next week with one more project as SpiegelMom Scraps GD for June. It’s been great!!
Hello all! I’m back today with a quick Project Life layout. These photos are from the first day of school, September 2, 2014. I didn’t take many photos because I was too busy holding back those proud Mama tears many of us shed on that first day back. Sniff, sniff. To create this layout I used Everyday Eclectic by Allison Kreft for Echo Park Paper. I just love the color combos in this line!
Many of you have read about my creative method of “15 minutes to scrap” which I definitely hold myself to doing almost daily. This is a great method that works for me and my crazy busy life. I worked on this layout in very short periods of time, no longer than 15-20 minutes. I started by cutting my papers to size and arranging them in the pockets along with my photos.
During my second short scrap session, I pulled out my embellishments consisting of the Everyday Eclectic stickers Chic Tags wood veneers, Studio Calico wood veneers, enamel dots, paper now from Michael’s Craft Store etc. During my last scrap session I began to stick things down and add the finishing touches like the wood veneers & enamel dots. After a total of about 45-55 minutes, this layout was done & in our 2014 scrapbook!!
Thanks so much for spending your time with me today!! I hope you’ll give this method a try! I’d love to hear from you about scrapping 15 minutes at a time!!
