Tuesday’s Talent with Jessica

Hello, everyone! My name is Jessica and I’m super excited to be guest designing for the month of December for Jody and SpiegelMom Scraps! A little background about me before we get on to the first project- I love a good craft but most of the things I get crafty with are made for my planner. Yes, I’m one of those crazed planner girls and I share all my decorated weeks and projects on Instagram. I know a lot of projects in here include cards and Project Life projects, but I thought it’d be awesome to show you how I utilize some of Jody’s gorgeous sequin mixes to create fun accessories for the notebooks that hold your life!@spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @jkruuu_plans, #plannernerd #plannergirl #erincondren #planneraddict #planner #blizzardsequins #spiegelmomscraps #projectlife #beckyhigginsllc #fusetool #wrmk #pocket #sequinpocket #shakerpocket #DIY #craft #scrapbook

In the planner world, “shaker pocket dashboards” have become THE thing to have in your ring bound planners. Whether it be for an A5, Personal, or Pocket Size, these are a fantastic way to add some sparkle, shine, and pizazz to your planner. So many shop owners on Etsy are starting to create and sell these in their shops, but they’re super easy and fun to make yourself. So today I’ll show you how you can make a Winter Wonderland themed shaker dashboard!blog 2

Here’s what you’ll need/what I used. Remember, these are completely customizable, so these materials are just a guide of inspiration and you can use almost anything!

     – Project Life 4×6 Fuse Pockets (or whichever size will fit your planner)

     – Recollections Tiny Beads in ‘Silver’

     – Recollections ‘Snowflake’ Glitter Embellishments

     – Project Life ‘Fuse Tool’

     – SpiegelMom Scraps ‘Blizzard Mix Sequins’

     – SpiegelMom Scraps ‘Silver Stardust Sequins’

     – Scissor

     – Hole punch (I used a Diary one to create the evenly spaced out 6!)c581387a-d343-4cc8-a63d-2d7694d929cdblog 4

The first thing you’re going to want to do is cut off the extra plastic on the pocket. You can totally leave it, seal the pocket there and hole punch the excess, but I find it fits nice later on when you punch into the pocket.  When that’s done you want to take the snowflake embellishments (they’re essentially 3D stickers, and stick them randomly onto the inside of the pocket! TIP: Make sure you’re holding the pocket with the opening to the left of you, so that you don’t accidentally create an upside down shaker, although in this case it doesn’t really matter, too much! The reason I’m inserting these embellishments is so that when all the sequins and glitter fall, these 3D stickers can keep the pocket looking full and busy, rather than empty at the top with a puddle of sparkle at the bottom!DSC00530blog 3

Next comes the fun part- taking your batches of sprinkles, glitters, and sequins to mix your own combo! For this particular shaker, I separated the smallest snowflakes from the SpiegelMom Scraps ‘Blizzard Mix’ and put them into a mini plastic bag. Then, into that same mini bag, I added a sprinkling of the Recollections Silver tiny beads, along with the SpiegelMom Scraps ‘Silver Stardust’ sequins. I kept adding little by little until I got a combo I liked. I also found a small batch of midnight blue mini sequins that I threw in as well to add some more color. Seal up the mini bag and shake it up. If you’re happy with the way it looks all mixed together, you can move on to pouring it into the fuse pocket and sealing that bad boy up!DSC00533blog 5

I used the Project Life ‘Fuse Tool’ to seal up the edge of the pocket and made the mix of sequins was lying at the edge to avoid it getting stuck. Then I fused another line about 1/2 an inch away from the original fuse. This is so we can hole punch that are and not have to worry about sequins and glitter flying out! As you can see, when I went in with my diary punch, I punch it all crooked. *sigh* No crafter is perfect. So instead of losing my mind and tossing this in the bin, I realized that I could just washi the edge and then repunch, which is exactly what I did, et voila! If anything, the washi really brings the whole theme of the shaker dashboard together!blog 6blog 7

And there you have it! Your very own shaker pocket dashboard to dazzle your crafter/planner friends! It’s a really fun activity to DIY. It takes no time at all once you get the hang of it! Thanks so much for having me today, and I’ll see you guys  next week with another fun project for the planner gal in you!

You can find SpiegelMom Scraps sequin mixes in the project linked here:

Tuesday’s Talent with Sarah McClellan!

Hello SpiegelMom Scraps fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog again, today, bringing you my second guest designer project.  It is a two page, Project Life, layout of our Halloween festivities.  I usually do one, two page, Project Life layout per week, but when there are special events or holidays, I will do an extra two pages for it!  @spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @sarahmcclellan @cratepaperinc @AmericanCrafts, #spiegelmomscraps #scrapbook #DIY #ProjectLife #cratepaperinc #americancrafts #halloween #afterdark #sequins #gold #doily #shakerpocket #thickers #stickers #corkstars #midnightfeltstars @spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @sarahmcclellan @cratepaperinc @AmericanCrafts, #spiegelmomscraps #scrapbook #DIY #ProjectLife #cratepaperinc #americancrafts #halloween #afterdark #sequins #gold #doily #shakerpocket #thickers #stickers #corkstars #midnightfeltstars

I used papers, stickers, and a 12×12 cut-apart sheet from the Crate Paper After Dark collection. The After Dark collection included a Spooky Glitter Thicker pack that has shapes and phrases that I just had to use!  I was lucky enough to get a sewing machine from my mother-in-law this week, so I’ve used it on a lot of the cards.  I think adding stitched elements to your layouts adds amazing texture!  @spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @sarahmcclellan @cratepaperinc @AmericanCrafts, #spiegelmomscraps #scrapbook #DIY #ProjectLife #cratepaperinc #americancrafts #halloween #afterdark #sequins #gold #doily #shakerpocket #thickers #stickers #corkstars #midnightfeltstars

Here we have my title card.  I layered one of the 4″ Gold Foil Doilies under a tag and layered on Yellow Felt-Fetti Hearts,Midnight Felt Stars, and Studio Calico Wood Veneer Stars.

@spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @sarahmcclellan @cratepaperinc @AmericanCrafts, #spiegelmomscraps #scrapbook #DIY #ProjectLife #cratepaperinc #americancrafts #halloween #afterdark #sequins #gold #doily #shakerpocket #thickers #stickers #corkstars #midnightfeltstars

 I created a shaker pocket using half a packet of the Trick or Treat Sequin Mix!  I used my Fuse tool to seal it shut!@spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @sarahmcclellan @cratepaperinc @AmericanCrafts, #spiegelmomscraps #scrapbook #DIY #ProjectLife #cratepaperinc #americancrafts #halloween #afterdark #sequins #gold #doily #shakerpocket #thickers #stickers #corkstars #midnightfeltstars #DIY

I absolutely love the Super Stars Cork embellies!  They are the perfect size for Project Life, just like most of the goodies in the shop!  Here I layered one under a word sticker!  I also love to do this with larger enamel dots!@spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @sarahmcclellan @cratepaperinc @AmericanCrafts, #spiegelmomscraps #scrapbook #DIY #ProjectLife #cratepaperinc #americancrafts #halloween #afterdark #sequins #gold #doily #shakerpocket #thickers #stickers #corkstars #midnightfeltstars #DIY

Here you can see a close up of the machine stitched boarder.  I used another one of the 4″ Gold Foil Doilies and added a label sticker from Crate Paper After Dark.  I piled on the Studio Calico Wood Veneer and Super Star Cork stars.  I also used a bit of Heidi Swapp Color Shine in gold.   @spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @sarahmcclellan @cratepaperinc @AmericanCrafts, #spiegelmomscraps #scrapbook #DIY #ProjectLife #cratepaperinc #americancrafts #halloween #afterdark #sequins #gold #doily #shakerpocket #thickers #stickers #corkstars #midnightfeltstars #DIY

I layered on the felt, cork, and wood hearts and stars on this card!  To add some texture, I looped several strands of gold thread and stapled them in place!

Well, that’s all from me today!  I hope that I can inspire you to get those memories scrapped.  However you document your memories, Jody will have just the right elements in her shop to help you make your projects shine!  I can’t wait to create another project to share with you next week!

Tuesday’s Talent ~ Sarah McClellan in the House!!!

Hi SpiegelMomScraps fans!  My name is Sarah and I was thrilled when Jody asked me to be her guest designer for November!  I am a thirty-something mom of two girls from Minnesota.  I have been a traditional 12×12 scrapbooker since 2007 and started Project Life in January of 2014.

For my first project, I did this beautiful Project Life double spread for Week 37 of 2015.  I used papers and stickers from the Crate Paper Wonder Collection.  I used some Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine and Amy Tangerine Goodness Thickers from American Crafts.  My date stamper is from Becky Higgins with Staz-on ink in black.

@beckyhigginslls @ProjectLife @spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @sarahmcclellen @cratepaperinc @AmericanCrafts @HeidiSwapp @AmyTangerine, #cratepaperinc #AmericanCrafts  #HeidiSwapp #AmyTangerine #ProjectLife #BeckyHigginsLLC #scrapbook #LAYOUT #sequins #indiansummersequins #loose sequins #DIY

@beckyhigginslls @ProjectLife @spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @sarahmcclellen @cratepaperinc @AmericanCrafts @HeidiSwapp @AmyTangerine, #cratepaperinc #AmericanCrafts  #HeidiSwapp #AmyTangerine #ProjectLife #BeckyHigginsLLC #scrapbook #LAYOUT #sequins #indiansummersequins #loose sequins #DIYI have been enjoying using one specific collection of papers per month!  I think this keeps my months in Project Life looking cohesive.  But I find that many paper collections that come with ephemera and stickers are often lacking embellishments that are small enough to use on Project Life layouts.  That’s why I love SpiegelMomScrapShop!  Jody’s shop offers tons of embellishments that are just the right size! @beckyhigginslls @ProjectLife @spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @sarahmcclellen @cratepaperinc @AmericanCrafts @HeidiSwapp @AmyTangerine, #cratepaperinc #AmericanCrafts  #HeidiSwapp #AmyTangerine #ProjectLife #BeckyHigginsLLC #scrapbook #LAYOUT #sequins #indiansummersequins #loose sequins #DIY

On my Week 37 title card, I layered a Gold Foil Doily, a shipping tag, Crate Paper Wonder ephemera, and Cloudy Day Cork shapes.    I embellished with enamel shapes, yellow Felt-Fetti Hearts,  Gold Garland Confetti, and Indian Summer Sequin mix.  Enamel dots can be expensive and a great way to save money scrapping is by using sequins in place of enamel dots!

@beckyhigginslls @ProjectLife @spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @sarahmcclellen @cratepaperinc @AmericanCrafts @HeidiSwapp @AmyTangerine, #cratepaperinc #AmericanCrafts  #HeidiSwapp #AmyTangerine #ProjectLife #BeckyHigginsLLC #scrapbook #LAYOUT #sequins #indiansummersequins #loose sequins #DIY

I love to make embellishment clusters on my Project Life spreads like this one.  Here I used another Gold Foil Doily, Crate Paper Wonder ephemera, and stickers, along with a few Thickers. I embellished with Cloudy Days Cork, some Gold Garland Confetti, and Indian Summer Sequins.

@beckyhigginslls @ProjectLife @spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @sarahmcclellen @cratepaperinc @AmericanCrafts @HeidiSwapp @AmyTangerine, #cratepaperinc #AmericanCrafts  #HeidiSwapp #AmyTangerine #ProjectLife #BeckyHigginsLLC #scrapbook #LAYOUT #sequins #indiansummersequins #loose sequins #DIY

In this cluster, I used Cork-Fetti Hearts, along with the Crate Paper ephemera.  When I start a Project Life layout, I try to chose a couple of busier papers from the collection and the rest are from the base colors.  Also, I almost always get the coordinating cut-apart sheets.  I like to layer on the ephemera and stickers and then repeat design elements across my Project Life layouts to create a cohesive look.  I also try to embellish with the same items and only use color shine on a couple of cards.  I do all of my journaling on my antique Underwood typewriter.

Well, that’s all from me this week.  I hope you all enjoyed my first project this month!  I am so enjoying using these goodies from SpiegelMomScrapShop!  I am looking forward to sharing more projects with you this month!  If you have any questions or would like to see more of my projects, you can find me on InstagramMy Blog and Youtube.

Products I used from SpiegelMomScrapShop:

4″ Gold Foil Doilies

Gold Garland Confetti

Quick and Simple Layout Share

Hey there! Jody here today with a quick layout to share. I started with the lovely Crate Paper Craft Market papers and layered with vellum, a cute mini paper bag and a couple other goodies.  This layout came together quickly with only a few embellishments added on top 🙂 The photo is of our daughter, Sari, in her favorite bonnet from Old World Wisconsin.  We’ve gone there twice over the summer and want to go back before the weather gets cold again.  We LOVE that place!  I took the photo at our land in September… by the way, the building process for our new home is underway!  We now have a driveway and will break ground within the next couple weeks!!! So excited!!

Ok, focus Jody LOL…. I added a Heidi Swapp Minc card “Be You Tiful” and framed it with a piece of Cocoa Vanilla ephemera frame. I also used up some Allison Kreft chipboard buttons & Pink Paislee white rubber arrows from the Artisan Collection. @spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @cratepaperinc @americancrafts @cocoavanillastudio @maggieholmes @heidiswapp @allisonkreft @websterspages, #spiegelmomscraps #jodyspiegelhoff #cratepaperinc #scrapbook #layout #ephemera #gold #heidiswapp #minc #cork #stickers

I think my favorite part of this layout is how fast is came together, about 20 minutes!!  It really does pay to scrapbook in short amounts of time.  It forces to me to not putz around with things so much and just get my memories documented.  Here are a few more close-ups!

Quick and Easy Project Life Page

Hey, everyone!  Kat popping in today to share a Project Life spread with you.  So…I am way, way, waaaaaay behind on my PL album this year and I need to catch up quickly.  Luckily, by picking out just a few core supplies, I am able to create a spread in a short amount of time and still have it embellished and pretty-looking.  Most importantly, I am getting these memories on the page before I forget them entirely J

For this spread I decided to stick with a PL mini core kit (I used Amy Tangerine’s Plus One kit), my favorite hearts & arrows wood veneers, an assortment of sequins and some label stickers.

Here is my spread:

@spiegelmomscraps @kraftykat09 @jodyspiegelhoff @AmyTangerine @studiocalico @americancrafts @dearlizzy, #sequins #amytangerine #americancrafts #plusone #goldrush #silverstardust #woodveneer

My favorite detail from the spread is the confetti pocket.  Confetti pockets are such a quick and easy way to add interest to a PL spread.  I mixed the gold rush sequins with the gold stardust confetti (they are sold out and being restocked soon, but you can find the silver assortment here) and I used my fuse tool to close up the pocket.

@spiegelmomscraps @kraftykat09 @jodyspiegelhoff @AmyTangerine @studiocalico @americancrafts @dearlizzy, #sequins #amytangerine #americancrafts #plusone #goldrush #silverstardust #woodveneer

I also love the Dear Lizzy wood veneers and knew that the “Best Ever” one would be perfect to layer on top of a scenery photo from the week – just another easy way to add some quick interest.

@spiegelmomscraps @kraftykat09 @jodyspiegelhoff @AmyTangerine @studiocalico @americancrafts @dearlizzy, #sequins #amytangerine #americancrafts #plusone #goldrush #silverstardust #woodveneer

The rest of the spread is fairly simple with a smattering of wood veneers, sequins and enamel shapes.  This page came together in about 30 minutes and most importantly, it’s done and added to my 2015 album!

The SpiegelMom Scraps Shop is the perfect place to stock up on your PL essentials.  Use code KAT15 when you shop to save 15% off your entire purchase!  Thanks for stopping in today!

Tuesday’s Talent ~ Ka Slagoski is here!

Hello everyone! My name is Ka and I am beyond thrilled and honored to be a guest designer for Spiegelmom Scraps! I want to thank Jody for inviting me to guest design here and for all the awesome products she given me to create with. Every Tuesday, I’ll be sharing a card or two here for the month of September. Woo-hoo! Let me get started by sharing a little information about me, then we’ll move on to the cards.
profileI am a longtime papercrafter who have dabbled in many forms of paper crafts, but my true passion is creating cute and whimsical cards. When I’m not paper-crafting, you’ll find me watching my favorite comedy TV shows, playing games at Dave & Buster, playing tennis, and hanging out with my husband, family and friends. 🙂

Now, let’s move on to today’s cards. This first card was so much fun to create. I fell in love with the Shimmerz Paint Paste when I was playing with it. I think I may just need one in every color! 😉

Hello Sunshine 1

“Hello, Sunshine” Card

I started this card off by placing My Favorite Things Sunray Stencil over the white cardstock and sponged Mustard Seed distress ink, going outward from dark to light. Then, I rotated the stencil and filled in the gap by spreading the Shimmerz Paint Dazzlerz Lemon Drop Yellow paste with a long plastic palette knife. I set that aside to dry.

Hello Sunshine 2

Once that was dried, I randomly added some Spiegelmom Scraps Glossy Black Sequins and some Pretty Pink Posh metallic sequins. I stamped the sentiment using Avery Elle Elle’s Alphas and cut them into small strips. I added a strip of One Way Arrow washi tape to the left side. I finished this card by popping the sunray panel up on the card base with foam dimensional adhesives.

Youre Awesome 1

“You’re Awesome” Card

 This next card, I decided to play with punches and patterns. When I first saw the Studio Calico Stars Wood Veneers in Spiegelmom Esty shop, I knew I wanted to make something with them. I decided to create a grid by scoring the cardstocks into thirds. Then I punched out some stars in 3 different patterned papers using a small star punch. I also punched out a tag with a scallop tag punch and stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Quite the Pair set and white heat embossed the sentiment. Next, I adhered all the stars on the grid and sew some of the Maya Arts Burlap Strings from Spiegelmom Scraps Etsy Shop to the stars. Then, I added some Studio Calico Tiny Stars Wood Veneers on top of the stars for a fun look. The scalloped tag was popped up with dimensional adhesives and a green bow was tied on top. I finished the card off by popping the entire panel with foam dimensional adhesives onto a navy card base.

Youre Awesome 2 (1)

I had so much fun creating these two cards for Spiegelmom Scraps! I hope you enjoy today’s cards and if you like to see the full supplies list, make sure you swing by my blog here [http://stampingsmilesdesigns.blogspot.com/2015/09/guesting-at-spiegelmom-scraps-sneak-peek.html

]. Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you back here next Tuesday! ♥

#HSCaptureLife: Day 11 ~ Today Was Totally Happy

Hello everyone! Welcome to my new blog subbies!! It’s great to ‘meet’ you here. I’d love to know how you found my blog and where you’re from!! Don’t be shy!! Please share in the comments!

Today I’m sharing another layout, inspired by Heidi Swapp’s Capture Life prompts. This layout is inspired by Day 11: Today was totally ______. This day was totally happy for sure! Abby & I planted flowers while our big girls were at school. We had a blast digging in the dirt, even if we were a bit chilly.  Some of the flower pots (not pictured here) were also for my Girl Scout troop’s bridging ceremony in June so this was extra special for us!!  In scrapbooking, and in life, the truly important things are these little everyday moments. Scrapbooking these moments is what I live for.  We live to remember!  Our lives are always crazy busy: soccer, school, gymnastics, Girl Scouts (2 troops), religious education, school, work and let’s pray we all stay healthy!! Treasuring these everyone moments means the world to us!

I still have some fabulous partial Clique Kits left that I’m trying to kill, while mixing in embellishments from my stash & my shop. These next several months I’ll be doing my best to kill various kits I have on hand & destash my stash!! We are close to breaking ground on our new home & the less stuff I have to move the faster I’ll have things back up & running in our new home!! Challenge accepted!

This layout uses Heidi Swapp’s bold & beautiful September Skies line along with some newer Heidi Swapp chipboard pieces from my LSS, a white doily, Freckled Fawn paper clips & a couple washi tapes. I also loosely followed this sketch! Below you’ll find a link to my process video for this layout on YouTube.

You can also watch my process video for this layout HERE!!  You’ll also see my using my FAVORITE new adhesive runner, the EZ Runner Grand!  This thing is smooth as butter and super easy to refill!  If you’d like to see a real life comparison between the EZ Runner and the Scotch ATG you must check out THIS VIDEO!!  The EZ Runner is half the weight and the refill just drops right into the tape fun.. No more wrapping adhesive around anything!!

Thank you for much for spending your time with me today.  I hope you’ve enjoyed my layout and have been inspired to capture your every day moments and document them!  Accept the challenge and get started today!

Until next time, do something creative today!

~ Jody

Ok, finally onto my project and challenge for YOU!  As many of you have probably seen there is s new paper crafting craze these days… the Pocket Letter!!  I’m so crazy about them myself because I love to connect with other paper crafter’s around the world and share fun things with them.  That’s one of the reasons I opened my Etsy shop 5 years ago this month.  I wanted to connect with other crafters who loved this hobby as much as I do.

To create my Pocket Letter I used Heidi Swapp’s fantastic Hello Today paper line and several different embellishments from my shop including the Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss wood veneers, sequins, washi tape and the actual pocket letter page protectors.

I have a special someone in mind to send this Pocket Letter to 🙂

GD Renee Joy ~ Part IV

Hi, there, scrappy friends….I hope everyone had a fun weekend. Are you ready to start scrappin’….I bet some of you already have. Here is what I have been up to. I decided to create another pocket page for one for one of my scrapbooks. As always, it was fun playing with my embellishments from SpiegelMom Scraps Ok, let’s get started. Here is the completed layout; then, I will get into the details.

@jodyspiegelhoff @spiegelmomscraps

It is always fun scrapping pics of my kids when they were younger. I definitely have plenty of those pics to scrap yet. This is great for Jody’s 15 minutes a day plan 🙂 Speaking of a plan, here is the first detail I wanted to include. It was fun watching my children together as they shared my daughter’s 7th birthday.

@jodyspiegelhoff @spiegelmomscraps

Oh, and I just love the heart with all of those lovely sentiments. I really like the way it fits in the pocket so nicely.

@jodyspiegelhoff @spiegelmomscraps @heidiswapp, #heidiswapp #spiegelmomscraps #sequins #heart #pocketpage #projectlife #pocketletter #studiocalico #foreverlovehearts

Well, you know how much I adore the sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps….I had to use them on this layout, too. Before I show you the detail shot, I would like to share how sequins have become a part of our home. My hubby found some on the floor in our kitchen and and asked me if I needed these. I told my hubby that I definitly did….I think he gets the picture….really, what kitchen floor doesn’t need a bit of sparkle, right?

Here are the supplies I used.

Paper-Heidi Swapp and Becky Higgins Project Life, Doodle Bug and Amy Tangerine
Sequins-Blue Lagoon Mix
Wood Veneer Stars
Forever Love Hearts
Cork-Fetti Hearts

I really had good time creating this layout. I sure hope that you have some time for creating yourselves this week. Oh, I would love to hear!! I will be back next week with one more project as SpiegelMom Scraps GD for June. It’s been great!!

Happy Scrapping,

Project Life, 15 Minutes at a Time

Hello all! I’m back today with a quick Project Life layout. These photos are from the first day of school, September 2, 2014.  I didn’t take many photos because I was too busy holding back those proud Mama tears many of us shed on that first day back. Sniff, sniff.  To create this layout I used Everyday Eclectic by Allison Kreft for Echo Park Paper. I just love the color combos in this line!

Many of you have read about my creative method of “15 minutes to scrap” which I definitely hold myself to doing almost daily. This is a great method that works for me and my crazy busy life. I worked on this layout in very short periods of time, no longer than 15-20 minutes.   I started by cutting my papers to size and arranging them in the pockets along with my photos.

During my second short scrap session, I pulled out my embellishments consisting of the Everyday Eclectic stickers Chic Tags wood veneers, Studio Calico wood veneers, enamel dots, paper now from Michael’s Craft Store etc.   During my last scrap session I began to stick things down and add the finishing touches like the wood veneers & enamel dots. After a total of about 45-55 minutes, this layout was done & in our 2014 scrapbook!!

Thanks so much for spending your time with me today!! I hope you’ll give this method a try! I’d love to hear from you about scrapping 15 minutes at a time!!

See you soon and remember …..

Laura Rumble’s Guest Designer Wrap Up

Hello Everyone!  It’s Laura here for my final guest designer project.

I have used my favourite product from SpiegelMom Scraps.  You’ll know what I mean… You open up a parcel of crafty stash.  You are excited… you look through each item one by one – oohing and aahing as you go.  There will normally be one item that you pick up twice, or three times even.  That was the case with the Fairytale Sequin Mix – it is a beautiful mix of sequins.

@spiegelmomscraps @laurarumble

It is pretty and girly, with a touch of the magical about it.  However for this scrapbook layout I went bright and tropical and the sequin mix suits it perfectly.

IMG_1033

I always use white for my background – this was a little challenge to myself… use something outside of my usual safe items.

IMG_1035I have used the Citrus Bliss collection included in my kit from British kit club Like For Ever.

IMG_1036

I firmly believe that there has never been and will never be a craft project that can’t be improved with a sprinkling of sequins!

Thank you very much, Jody, for having me as May’s guest designer.  I really enjoyed using your products!

Laura

Well Laura, the pleasure was definitely mine!  Thank you so much for being my special guest this month!  ~ Jody

Scrapping in 15 minutes & heat embossing!

Happy hump day all!  Today I’m sharing a layout I’ve been working on in very short amounts of time over the last week or so.  I’ve posted some works in progress photos of this on my personal Instagram account which you can check out HERE.  I’ve been very intentional with my crafting and gone back to my “15 minutes to scrap” philosophy.  It truly works for me!  This means that I work on a layout or other project in very short amounts of time, usually between 10 and 20 minutes.  Many of you know that I’m a busy mama of 5 AND work full time.  That’s just plain chaotic at times!  If you have a little space to dedicate to your crafting, try it out!  Or, try setting up a card table in a corner of your living room and keeping some basic supplies out to work with.  It’s worth a try!

For my layout, I used one of my favorite new lines… My Minds Eye, On Trend.  I found these amazing My Minds Eye papers at an awesome local scrapbook and stamp store in a nearby town ~ Polka Dots and More!  It’s been in business for about 10 years, but I never knew it existed!  For shame!! It’s a fabulous shop with monthly specials and classes! You’ll find all your favorite scrapbook and stamping brands, plus a warm small business atmosphere! They also have a great YouTube Channel with lots of short and informative videos!

Here’s my layout.  I started with a peachy colored sheet of cardstock that’s been in my stash FOR-EVER!!  On it’s own, the cardstock color doesn’t appeal to me at all.  But after I brushed some gesso over it and began to layer the On Trend, Stampin Up and Project Life products over it, I began to love it! I also heat embossing the word ‘love’ right onto the Project Life card to serve as my title. You can check out a close up and short video of that HERE on my SpiegelMom_Scraps Instagram account.

@WebstersPages @AllisonKreftDesigns @MaggieHolmes @CratePaper @AmericanCrafts @jodyspiegelhoff @spiegelmomscraps @mymindseyeinc @stampinup @spiegelmom_scraps @projectlife, #gold #embossing #beckyhigginsllc #projectlife #ontrend #mymindseye #DIY #allisonkreft #WebstersPages #ribbon #lace #chipboard #maggieholmesdesign

After brushing the cardstock with Gesso and letting it dry my cardstock was a little warped but that didn’t really bother me.  I think it added more interest to my layout.  I began adding layers of On Trend paper, a 5×7″ glassine bag, a Project Life 4×6″ card, Stampin Up vellum with gold dots, Amy Tangerine paper and some super cute tags from the Target Dollar Spot!

To finish off the layout, I added several of the On Trend Ephemera popped up with foam adhesive, some lovely lace and trim from Allison Kreft, gold resin roses from Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper and a Heidi Swapp stamp using my black Memento ink (above the gold number 2).

Thank you for spending your time with me today. I hope you’ve enjoyed my layout!  I’ve also linked up the new challenged posted over at The Studio Challenges.  One of my lovely Design Team gals, Kat Benjamin, is on their DT and I’ve been wanting to make time to participate in their awesome challenges for months now!  Check them out!  This month’s challenge is to use pink, black and gold.  The pink here is more peachy, but I totally love this color combo!  There’s also some hot pink in the tags from Target 🙂
