Hello my scrappy friends!  I’m sharing my last layout using up nearly all of my November Clique Kit, Homecoming.  I used the pretty floral background from Lemon Owl and added a pretty pink ink to the edges from Close To My Heart. Yes, that is a lot of pink…. but think about what it would look like on a boy page in blue, yellow or gray!  Doesn’t that look cool!

Next, I wanted to tone down the middle of the paper so I added some Gesso by painting across the section I wanted dulled down.  After letting it dry, I began adding some layers of papers I had left over from other layouts.  When I was finished adding my layers, I decided to add some more inking in the form of masking!  I used these fabulous gold leaf stickers from Pretty Little Studio and included in the Homecoming Kit!  They are awesome!  To use them as a mask I stuck my finger on the back a few times to reduce some of the stickiness then put them onto my page where I wanted to use them as a mask.  After doing so, I used my Tim Holtz ink blending tool to rub the ink over the stickers, pealed them off and ta-da!!  You can do this with any type of sticker in your stash!!

Here are some more close ups for you!  At the angle below you can really see the gold leaves and the masked areas on the layout.  This is a great way to add more visual interest to your layout or even a card without adding a lot of extra embellishments.

Scrappy Blog Tour

Hello my friends!  Have you heard of the Scrappy Blog Tours going on right now?  Well, I was lucky enough to be tagged by the ever-so-talented Erica Thompson of EricaRose Creates last Monday!   After Erica tagged me, it was my turn to join in and then tag 3 more scrappy bloggers!!  Fun right!??  So here we go, I’m tagging…..

Lynn Darda        Kat Benjamin       Caroli Schulz

Kat and Caroli are two of the very talented new Clique Kits Design Team members and Lynn is fabulously talented card maker from our Memory Works days :))  I’ve really missed blogging along with Lynn!!  I’m so happy all these ladies have accepted my challenge for posting next Monday!   So, let’s get on the scrappy tour questions!

1. What am I working on right now?

I’ve been working on linking up to some recent challenges out there, including Clique Kits first monthly challenge, Anything Goes!!  If you haven’t heard, go link up!!  I’m also linking up to the Creative Scrappers Sketch #277 challenge this month using my Study Abroad kit.  Check out this sketch and my Study Abroad layout.

2. How long does it take me to create a project?

To create a layout, it takes me anywhere from 25 minutes to over an hour.  It really just depends on how quickly things come together and whether or not I’m feelin’ it.  You know what I mean 🙂  One of my favorite things to create is mini albums, but those take several hours. When I create a mini album, I’ll plan out what papers I’m using and basic embellishments.  I usually end up cutting a bunch of die cuts, not really knowing what I’m going to use!

3. What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?

Hands down, my Clique Kit and all the goodies from the Clique Kits online shop!!  We have hand picked coordinating add-on items in our School Store, some even handmade and exclusive to CK!

4. How does my writing and creating process work?

It depends… big help right lol!  Seriously though, I go back and forth between starting with my photos and starting with my Clique Kit or other papers in my stash.  Lately, I’ve been starting with my monthly Clique Kit and pulling photos from there.  Sometimes, especially this month, I’ll even dress my girls to match the colors in my kit.  I can’t be the only one who does this either!! The thing is, my Clique Kit is so complete!!!  It’s full of fabulous papers and it’s not skimpy on embellishments at all!  Gotta love that scrappers!!

5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired?
My girls always inspire me in many ways, especially to keep up with my photography.  They are always moving and on the go!  I take a lot, I mean a lot of photos of them.  Many of those photos do stay on the computer, organized by date, but I also print a lot as well.  209 yesterday!!

As far as creative inspiration, I check out the social media sites like Instagram and Pinterest, as well as the manufacturers sites to keep on the trends and new products. Many times though, I’ll Pin something and won’t go back to it for months.  As you can see, one of my inspirations is using sketches too!

6. What is my signature style?
Generally, I like to add lots of layers, texture and dimension.  I do this by adding my favorite May Arts Burlap String, paints, sequins, gesso, foam adhesive, wood veneers and other techniques.

Well, that the Scrappy Blog Tour in a nutshell!  I hope you enjoyed the your and interview.  Now, I’ll leave you with a few more of my recent projects!!

Create a NEW stamp using old stamps in a Krafty Hearts Blog Share

Kraft-y Heart Blog Share

Welcome back! My fellow Krafty Hearts are Lynn Darda and Kim Hill. Make sure you hop over to their blogs for some fantastic inspiration. I linked their scrappy blogs into their names above for your convenience.

“Out with the old & in with the new” is our theme. Today’s project is all about using up your supplies before you get your new goodies. Also, I personally feel like I should justify my scrapbooking and stamping supplies. So, I’ve found a way to to utilize my stamps, even older ones, in my scrapbooking. I’ll take you through a short tutorial at the end of this post.

Now for the feature presentation! My “So You” Claire large tag mini album! I love making mini albums, especially with these large shipping tags. They’re just a little larger than 3×6″, which is a great size for all those Instagram photos I’ve been taking. Mini albums are also a great way to use up those supplies pretty quickly.

Most of the die cuts are from the Artiste Cartridge. Let me tell you I LOVE this cart!! I don’t think I’ve ever been happier with the actual images and quantity of images on a single cart. That’s saying a lot since I have my share 🙂

029 031 033 032 034 035 036 037 039 040 042 043 045

I took this challenge a bit further than just using up your current and older supplies. I wanted to use an ‘older’ stamp, or stamp set, in a new way! I used the Wheel of Life (June Stamp of the Month) to create this little 2×2” cluster of words as a journaling block. This die cut journaling spot is also on the Artiste Cartridge along with many others.

My process: Gather your clear stamps to use in the collage (of sorts) and arrange them in your journaling block or directly onto your scrapbook page. Once you have the words or images arranged to your liking, press your CTMH Acrylic Block directly on top of those stamps to adhere them to the block. Gently lift up the acrylic block to create your NEW stamp. Ink it up and stamp as usual with your favorite CTMH Ink. Pretty easy, right!?

Here’s a little twist on that technique. Add a small word somewhere in the midst of that journaling block with your CTMH Kraft alphabet stickers. Next, arrange your other stamps around the stickers for another cool effect!

Close To My Heart supplies:

~ Liquid Glass to create all those little shiny details and to adhere all my little clouds and banner

~ Claire paper

~ Gems and Acrylic flowers

Other Supplies: Large shipping tags and mini glassine bags from my Etsy Shop HERE and seam binding from my stash.

I hope I’ve inspired you to keep using the stamps in your stash and not let them collect any dust! Stamps are some of the best tools we have yes I meant to say tool. We just need to find new and creative ways to keep using them.

Please stop by Lynn and Kim’s blog too! These ladies always create something fantastic.

Im now linked into BlogLovin’ for your blog reading pleasure. I’d love for you to follow me!

Happy Scrappin’!
