Make It Yours Monday

make it yours monday

9-19-w-footer

I’m SO excited to be back with another Make It Yours Monday!!! This week’s layout is special to me! It’s an original sketch, my first ever!!!

my-sketch

My layout was inspired by my living room photo display…

6955265e59c16152d8cc5cb6613e36e7

I Started with a piece of wood grain paper from Simple Stories. I cut out the center and backed my photo with the inside piece. I layered a Medium Glassine Bag under the matted photo and then layered another piece of wood grain paper as the final mat.  I adhered 3 Normandy Doilies, cut in half, to the top and bottom of the matted photo for some texture.

14316835_10210356250123577_7387649189751259866_n

I set aside the photo cluster and began to work on my background. I cut down a piece of white American Crafts cardstock to about 10×10 and splattered some Shimmerz Coloringz in  Heidi Ho Blue and Pretty in Pink across the center as well as some Gold Heidi Shine.

Next, I moved onto the messier (my favorite) part. I started with some Spun Sugar Dazzlers and Rose Gold glitter paste from Bo Bunny. I used a burlap stencil from Tim Holtz and created my 3 areas of mixed media. After it was dry, I edged the white paper with Walnut Stain Distress ink.

14359224_10210356205642465_6566022140248507998_n

From there, I adhered my matted photo to the center of the page. I tucked a shipping tag into the bag layer behind my photo for my journaling.

Then, the FUN stuff! The embellishment’s for this layout were so fun! I used a scrap strip of the wood grain paper to make a cluster just above the photo and attached a scrap of doily left over from the other cut pieces from earlier.  This cluster also got some of the awesome Cloudy Day Felties and a Cork Star that I added some dot details to make it look like a starfish! Some green sequins from the pretty mix A Day In The Woods and some blue from the beautiful Lets Be Mermaids mix finished off this cluster.

14344870_10210356207802519_6405759811220375378_n

I added some more Cork Stars, again with the dot details, to the bottom left of the photo with some sequins from the same mixes and a wood veneer star. The top right corner also got the same fun little details. I added my title right to the photo and I was done!

I cant even get over how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Layout!!! I’m so glad you joined me this week for Make It Your’s Monday because this really does show you how inspiration can come from ANYWHERE or ANYTHING!!!

Scrappy Saturday Layout with Katty Miranda

13876613_10210616252669142_2391417144707825514_n

Hello friends! Katty here to share a 12×12 layout with you all. Today for Scrappy Saturday I am scrapbooking a photo of my brother and niece at her college graduation last December. We are so proud of her. I decided to print the photo in black and white because her gown was purple and my brother was wearing a red shirt! Not the best color combination.

I began with a few patterned papers from the Fancy Pants Office Suite and Happy Place Collections. I decided to use a black and white stripe and polka dot as my background. I layered them in between some American Crafts White Textured Cardstock. I tilted the papers a bit so that they weren’t all perfectly straight. I also used my distress tool to distress the white cardstock edges. I added a strip of arrows to the four corners using a Teresa Collins Stencil and the beautiful Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Coral Me Crazy.

aFullSizeRender

I added a simple black cardstock mat for my photo and layered one of the blue patterned papers behind it. I also added a White Lace Paper Doily both behind my photo and on the bottom cluster. I used one of the patterned papers that has a beautiful floral on it and fussy cut some flowers from it. I layered the flowers around my photo, which I placed towards the top left of the page and also clustered some of the flowers on the bottom right. I also grabbed some leaf sprigs and 2 flowers I had cut out in my silhouette cameo and backed those with black cardstock to add to my floral clusters.

FullSizeRenderkkkk FullSizeRenderk

I pulled out the Kaisercraft Finders Keepers Paper Pad and found that the colors in it worked perfectly with the Fancy Pants papers I had picked out to use.

FullSizeRenderkkk

I layered one of the papers behind my photo and pulled some of the embellishment circles and tags that come in the paper pad and scattered them around my page in my clusters. I decided  I needed an small third cluster on the top left of the page behind my photo as well. For some extra texture and sparkle I also added the beautiful yellow flowers from the Happy Dance Sequins in my clusters as well.

FullSizeRenderkk

For my tittle I crated a shelf for my tittle to sit on to the right of my photo using a pink strip from the Fancy Pants papers and a blue scallop border from the Kaisercraft Finders Keepers Paper Pad. I added some of the flatback frosted white sequins also from the Happy Dance Sequins to the scallops. For the actual tittle I used a Wood veneer from my stash that says “Congrats,” I colored it black using Black India Ink. As a finishing touch, I added splatter with the same Black India Ink.

I really love the end result. There is a process video on my Youtube channel if you’d like to watch: https://youtu.be/qEXfuk3ozpw

Thanks so much for stopping by! XOXO -Katty

#SpiegelMomScraps #sequins #Augustchallenge #mixedmedia #Shimmerz #dazzlers #basicgrey #bucketlist #papercrafting #scrapbooking @spiegelmom_scraps @wordsandpaperscraps @shimmerzpaints

I’m SO thankful I managed to squeeze in some scrapping inspired by this month’s challenge before August ended (WOW it has flown by).  Thank you, Lisa for the inspiration. I realized after it was too late that I forgot one portion of the recipe – the doily. In case you missed it:

3 embellishments – doily, sequins, banner, 2 colors from the mood board, 1 sketch

My husband and I keep a journal with a running list of all the things we want to do. Of all the things, traveling some place where we can see the Northern Lights is at the very top. I thought it would be perfect to scrap this for this month’s Bucket List Challenge.

I started with some amazing constellation inspired paper by Basic Grey (an older collection) and used a speckled stencil in combination with my Shimmerz Dazzlers texture paste in Spun Sugar. It resembled a perfect smattering of stars..swoon. I layered some sequins over top to of the texture paste to draw the eye in. I then added a few pink and blue paper scraps and some vellum + star patterned acetate paper. I really couldn’t get enough of the stars for this layout!

#SpiegelMomScraps #sequins #Augustchallenge #mixedmedia #Shimmerz #dazzlers #basicgrey #bucketlist #papercrafting #scrapbooking @spiegelmom_scraps @wordsandpaperscraps @shimmerzpaints

I used my Silhouette Cameo for the first part of my title, and combined it with a Project Life card. For some reason I forget to utilize my Cameo – but I love the versatility it provides titles. The banner was made by threading some light pink string through punches from a glassine bag and a few sequins from the Shop. The mix I used, Wedding Bells went perfectly with this mood board inspired layout.

I finished this layout off with a few Heidi Swapp puffy stickers and stitched-on acetate stars. Oh, and of course a handful of sprinkled sequins. I really believe sequins have a place on every craft project ever.

Thanks for checking out my latest project! Hopefully one day I’ll have a chance to scrap my own pictures of the Northern Lights. Does anyone have a view of this gorgeous phenomenon from their home?

FAB FRIDAY’S: FAM LIFE

Hello everyone! This is my first blog post for the SpiegalMom DT and I am super excited!  The layout I am bringing you today is a traditional layout about family and we all know how that goes! Lol.  Anyway this is a photo of my daughter and her husband who are in the faded background and their two children in the front.  Taken in beautiful Monterey California, you just can’t go wrong with a photo shoot at the beach.

IMG_2978

I just love the colors in this layout and those sequins are right on the spot!  I used the Spiegelmom scraps Wedding Bells sequins and glued them where they dropped.

I used Tombo Mono Multi glue because when it dries, it dries into a matt finish. I also used some ink in Glass Slipper from SC with a stencil of hearts, which gave it a tone on tone look.

IMG_2969

My favorite part about this layout is the hidden journaling, which I used a large Glassine bag to hold a 4X6 journaling card and glued it to the back of the photo, added a tab, and labeled it NOTE, so that you can retrieve the journaling card.  I have done this technique before when I had a layout that was too busy for journaling or when I just want to hide the words.  It’s another way of keeping your journaling private.

Tuesday Talent

Tuesday's Talent

Mandi, here. Popping in to share with you a cute baby layout that features the May Arts Burlap StringSea U in the Mornin’ Shimmerz DazzlerzTutti Frutti Dazzlerz Texture PasteCloudy Days FeltiesChunky Cork Hearts and Gold Sequin Confetti.

Pictures3

I love to take bits and pieces to create a cluster which helps draws the eye in to the title area. As you can see here I have felties, cork, string and papers which adds a lot of texture without a lot of bulk, which takes up less room in albums.

DSCN4817

To give the embossed cardstock this shine I applied a thin layer of the Dazzlerz. I came across a cool technique the Dazzlerz can be used in. It can exactly be used as an adhesive for foil sheets. Apply a thin layer of the paste to the cardstock, let it get to the tacky stage, maybe five minutes, rub the foil in the area you want and remove. You should be left with something that looks like this.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this fun technique in how to incorporated the Dazzlerz into your crafty work.

Fly tags by Lea

Hi all, Lea’s here: for my appointment today I created a set of three mini tags. Lately my passion exploded for Gelli plate so I decided to use my first experiments to create the base of my tags. So I cut from my print slightly smaller tag than basic and I pasted above, then I added some stamping and some white splashes. Then I added various embellishments, but especially some beautiful blue felt feathers, and one of the new mix of sequins: the one I used contains 5 different sequins as color, shape and size.

Hello everyone!  Jody here again with another layout using metal dies to create the look of using an electronic die cutting machine.  Last weeks layout used the circle stitched die set from Kaiserkraft, which I just LOVE!  It’s different than the other stitched dies on the market because the stitches are on the circle that is die cut out, and not on the negative part, or circle punched in the cardstock/paper.  You can see the faux stitching on my die cut journaling circle.

@spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @kaiserkraft @americancrafts @pinkpaislee @bellablvdllc @amytangerine @mymindseyeinc, #spiegelmomscraps #scrapbooking #americancrafts #pinkpaislee #fancefreecollection #fancyfree #layout #kaiserkraft #metaldie #Icondie #nestingstitchedcircles #thickers #sequins #shakerpocket

Instead of using just one type of Kaiserkraft metal die, I used a couple! I used the Nesting Stitched Circles and the Icons metal dies to create my layout, along with the fabulous Pink Paislee Fancy Free collection, sequins from the shop, 2 glassine bags and some Amy Tangerine Thickers words.

To create this look on your page, you’ll need a couple things:  A Big Shot or similar die cutting machine and your favorite metal dies!  Since a 12×12″ sheet of cardstock or paper won’t fit through a Big Shot, you’ll need to cut your cardstock or paper down to either 6×12″ or 5.75×5.75″, as I did today.  I wanted to mount them onto a piece of white American Crafts Cardstock to really help it pop.  I easily could have left my paper 6×12″ but I wanted the faint look of the grid in the background so I cut them down to  5.75 by 5.75″ so the white cardstock would show around the edges of my layout.  To get the placement I wanted, I simply played with where the die cut circles to be on my layout.  After I had those placed where I like them, I added the Kaiserkraft Icon dies as accents.  Tip: When running the metal dies through my Big Shot, I used a small piece of washi tape to keep them in place.

@spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @kaiserkraft @americancrafts @pinkpaislee @bellablvdllc @amytangerine @mymindseyeinc, #spiegelmomscraps #scrapbooking #americancrafts #pinkpaislee #fancefreecollection #fancyfree #layout #kaiserkraft #metaldie #Icondie #nestingstitchedcircles #thickers #sequins #shakerpocket

After I had everything die cut out, I create some shaker windows with glassine bags and sequins.  This was super easy to do! I used a large glassine bag for the two circles on the upper right of the layout and a medium glassine bag behind the largest circle.  To keep some of the Magical Ocean sequins stuck throughout the circle (so they didn’t all fall to the bottom) I opened up the bag and drizzled some tacky glue inside. Then, I just poured in the desired amount of sequins to fill the space.  This next step is pretty technical.. I smooshed around the sequins until they were inside the circle where the peaked through the die cut window.  Super technical right! LOL!  To finish it off, I folded the glassine bag over and sealed it with some tacky glue as well and then adhered it to the back of the 6×6″ Fancy Free paper.  I repeated this for the other die cut circle using the Spring Blooms sequin mix.

@spiegelmomscraps @jodyspiegelhoff @kaiserkraft @americancrafts @pinkpaislee @bellablvdllc @amytangerine @mymindseyeinc, #spiegelmomscraps #scrapbooking #americancrafts #pinkpaislee #fancefreecollection #fancyfree #layout #kaiserkraft #metaldie #Icondie #nestingstitchedcircles #thickers #sequins #shakerpocket

For the other two sections, I used the super cute Icon dies to create the design elements and backed them with scraps of Pink Paislee Fancy Free papers to compliment the messy layers behind my photo. I used both the negative space from the Icon dies and the die cuts they punched out.  Using dies is a great way to get so much more out of your papers and really stretch your stash!  Just think of all the possibilities!

I’m so happy you stopped by today to check out the blog!  Remember to follow SpiegelMom Scraps here using Bloglovin’, on Instagram and Facebook!  Today, I’ll be contacting the remainder of the new Design Team members I’ve chosen and giving them the good news!  This was so difficult you guys!  There were a ton of wonderful ladies who applied and I really appreciate all the time you took to submit your applications!  If you weren’t chosen this time, please feel free to email me with any suggestions for improvement for next time! Sometimes, it’s just a matter of photography which can easily be improved with some tips!   Again, thank you SO much everyone and I’ll see ya’ll very soon!

Hugs! Jody

Smile tag by Lea

Hello everyone … Lea here to offer you a very merry tag to give to those we care about and who we want to draw a smile.
I painted a large shipping tag with black gesso, once dry I embossed it completely with white embossing powder from a beautiful alphabet of Tim Holtz.
I then proceeded to do as I like. I created a layering with patterned paper, doily, twine, alternating different thicknesses.

I completed with sequins,  hearts and stars in felt  .

Simply beautiful layout by Lea

Hi all, Lea here…another month together and this weekend and throughout the month will be full of beautiful things for which just keep an eye on …
I like very much to take pictures and one of the subjects that I like to photograph there are flowers and for that event I wanted to “celebrate” the beauty of nature in all its simplicity.
My starting point is a beautiful patterned paper: I added the texture paste using a stencil and washi tape.
I then added with other different patterned paper, alternating with shipping tags, a doily crochet; I added some beautiful round sequins and hearts of felt, white and pink. I completed the page with the white splatters and some little doodle and title.simplyb

Love tags by Lea

Hi all, Lea here…last date of the month with two mini tags.

love

I used two mini white shipping  tags; I left one white, the other I cut a few millimeters all around and I painted with black gesso, once dry I drew with a flat brush and Gold Mine Shimmerz paste three vertical stripes. I added splashes of acrylic, gold and white.

This is the base of the tags: I created a layering with the patterned paper, lace: I blocked it all around the tag with white thread and then I glued the smallest tag to other tag.
I added two square frames, of different sizes, that I superimposed between them and to complete I added a cork heart wrapped with thread. Finally, I added some Gold Garland Confetti and title.

Grateful card by Lea

Hi  girls, Lea  here …. This week I wanted to make a spring card to thank a friend.

card

The base is formed by two superimposed rectangles of patterned paper; I superimposed on this surface a series of elements, adding the thickness also, to create greater dynamism. I used a white shipping tag, a white doily, other pieces of patterned papers, the simple colored thread of cotton and white cord wrapped a few times to form a circle and stuck with the stapler. At the center stands a beautiful butterfly die cut. I inserted here and there some hearts cork (Chunky hearts and Forever love hearts) and a cascade of sequins from the Mint Chip Mix that with its colors fit perfectly to the color scheme used on the card. Finally, as usual, the turquoise and gold splashes.card det4card det2card det3

My source of energy: layout by Lea

Hi girls, Lea here… Today is my day, in the true sense of the word. Today is my birthday and I wanted to celebrate what has always accompanied my life: my love for painting and what I always carry with me: a travel set of watercolors and a few brush.

lo_sourcesourcedet
The central composition is created by a series of layers : white doily, shipping tags, glassine bags, patterned paper, some twine); the base is a patterned paper on which I used modeling paste and a stencil diamond pattern and a couple of stamps, washi tape and some die cut. Finally some embellishments: two wonderful sequin mix ( Sunny smiles and Glass slippers), Studio Calico Hearts and Arrows .
