Scraplift Sunday with a Twist

Hello scrappy friends!! This is Megan and I have a couple fun cards to share with you today. I’m not a huge card maker, but sometimes I’ll make a few at a time, so I thought it would be fun to pull out an oldish Close to my Heart catalog and find a couple cards I liked.

Here’s a photo of the one I decided to lift:

and then I got the idea to emboss my base from this one:

Here are my cute cards that I made with the inspiration from CTMH. I love them both!

I know that Father’s Day is far away, but I thought this card was super cute and my husband would like it so that’s why I went with this stamp. For the base of both cards I used the American Crafts Textured Cardstock.

I used these I Cork U hearts from the shop along with the Amy’s Sprinkles sequin mix.

You can also find the Large Shipping Tag in the shop as well as the new Shimmerz Paints Acritonez, I used Jiven Jade.

For this second card I decided I wanted to make it totally different than the inspiration from the CTMH catalog. I loved the idea of using the embossing folder. This is a cloud one I bought from Stampin’ Up. I wanted to paint the embossed card and created kind of a resist image, but the Acritones I used, dried too fast. But, I really love how it turned out!

I really love these cute Cloudy Days felites!! I think they’re one of my favorite products in the shop!!

I also used the Plum Dreamsicle sequin mix and a Close to my Heart stamp.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these cute cards!! I have a process videos that I will post below.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope you have a great Sunday!!

Shake those shaker cards!

Hello my friends!! Jody here today with a quick & easy card share. I created this card for a recent birthday & love how it turned out. I started by embossing a 4.25″ by 5.5″ piece of white Neenah card stock with one of my favorite polka dot embossing folders. Next, I ran it through my Big Shot using one of the Kaiserkraft Stitched Circle dies.  In order to have the stitches NOT show on the card, I ran two sheets of that size cardstock through the Big Shot on the side opposite the raised dots.  I positioned the metal die where I wanted to create the shaker window and used washi tape to secure it in place.  I totally killed two crafting birds with one stone!  Now have another card base ready to go for my next card.

After I had my window cut out on the cardstock, I trimmed down a piece of white craft foam and lined up where the window would go. I placed the metal die where I wanted it and again secured it with washi tape before running the foam through my Big Shot. Then I adhered a piece of acetate directly behind the embossed cardstock to create the front of the window.   I followed up by adhering the die cut foam on the backside of the embossed cardstock which created an area to add my sequins.  I poured about 2 teaspoons of Pinky Pie Pink sequins into the window area and added a few random pink hearts from the Hearts on Fire sequin mix.

After adding my sequins, I put adhesive all around the edge of the circle to create a seal when I added the patterned paper backing to my window.  For the finishing touches, I added a wood veneer word from Michael’s Craft Store and some fabulous Maggie Holmes Gold Glitter Thickers, which I’ve been hoarding big time!!  Easy peasy!!

Thanks so much for checking out the blog today!!  Being the shop owner and always thinking of more ways to accommodate my customers, I’m thinking about adding a few options for cardstock to the shop.  What do you think about SMS offering 8.5 by 11″ Neenah white cardstock and 12×12 American Crafts white and kraft cardstock in single sheets?  This would affect some shipping methods and costs slightly due to the size of the box needed.  I’d love to hear your feedback!

I hope you all have a creative day!

Cute Cards with Your Scraps!

Hello everyone & happy Saturday!! It’s been a very long week on my Homefront so I’m looking forward to my much needed vacation starting tomorrow. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

** Today is the last day to upload your projects for the 4 challenges over on the SpiegelMom Scraps Facebook events page (linked). It’s also the last day to hop the Holiday Happiness Blog Hop, found HERE to start with. There are PRIZES!!

The last couple months I’ve been on a big card making binge. I’ve had orders for sets of cards to give as gifts and made a bunch of holiday cards too. Needless to say, I’m on a roll! Today I’d like to share a couple cards I made just using scraps of patterned paper & minimal stamping. My trick to making these cards it to use papers that aren’t real “matchy matchy.” I like a little contrast & to layer with a little dimension.

To create the dimension I use craft fun foam, which is very inexpensive compared to using a bunch of adhesive foam tape or squares. I learned this trick from Jennifer McGuire. I found mine on Amazon for a great price & it came with free shipping. Score!!

Another way I like to jazz up my cards a little is to add some May Arts Burlap String! It’s the perfect twine-type string for any project. Grab your scraps & get to creating!! You totally have time to crank out some card sets to give as gifts for teachers, secretaries, bosses, daycare providers and anyone else on your list!!

SPECIAL 15% off code valid through Dec 20th~ AMAZE15

Be sure to stop back tomorrow for a grand blog hop featuring lots of holiday sparkle & shine!! PLUS I’m giving away more Marion Smith Designs goodies AND a $10 gift code to my Etsy Shop. See you tomorrow!!

October Tuesday’s Talent ~ Amy Lee is here!

Hello everyone!  I cannot believe October has finally arrived!  Here in Southeastern Wisconsin the weather is turning cooler and Fall is in the air, which I love!  I also absolutely adore my guest designer this month, Amy Lee aka The Craft Bunny!  We ‘met’ through Etsy and I’m so happy we did.  Amy’s YouTube channel is lovely and growing more and more every week.  Please give a warm SpiegelMom Scraps welcome to Amy this month!

Hi there! My name is Amy Lee. I am the October Guest Designer for SpiegelMomScrapShop. I have a YouTube channel called TheCraftBunny. This is actually my VERY FIRST time in a Guest Design Team and I am so EXCITED!

@spiegelmomscraps @thecraftbunny @jodyspiegelhoff, #thecraftbunny #sequins #spiegelmomscraps #stamps #ink #etsyshopToday, I am sharing an anime inspired card featuring some awesome sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps. I have always loved anime as a child. Their screen effects were extremely glamorous and very pretty. So in this project, I decided to channel my favorite anime memories into card making.

To start off, I stamped my Gorjuss Girl image in black, paper pierced her dress and then colored the rest with my color pencils. To make her even more realistic, I added a magic circle image from Google Images. I also made her a magic wand using a painted toothpick and some embellishments in my stash.@spiegelmomscraps @amylee @thecraftbunny, #DIY #cardmaking #Gorjussgirl #stamp #ink #fairy #sequins #sunnydays #mirrormirror #silversequins #flower #coloring

The card front background was created using pink, yellow and lavender acrylic paints. Then I adhered the focal point of my card using foam tape and hot glue. Then, I embellished the card using some mulberry paper flowers and sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps. To match the color scheme, I used sequins from Silver Sunrise Mix, Moonshine Delight, Gold Rush and Sunny Days. I love adding in elements from the same color family to add fullness to my project.@spiegelmomscraps @amylee @thecraftbunny, #DIY #cardmaking #Gorjussgirl #stamp #ink #fairy #sequins #sunnydays #mirrormirror #silversequins #flower #coloring For the inside of the card, I simply adhered some lace to prop up the card front. That’s it for this card! If you’d like to see more, please check out the process video on my Youtube channel. A full list of supplies is also available there. Thanks for stopping by and I will see you next week!

Create a NEW stamp using old stamps in a Krafty Hearts Blog Share

Kraft-y Heart Blog Share

Welcome back! My fellow Krafty Hearts are Lynn Darda and Kim Hill. Make sure you hop over to their blogs for some fantastic inspiration. I linked their scrappy blogs into their names above for your convenience.

“Out with the old & in with the new” is our theme. Today’s project is all about using up your supplies before you get your new goodies. Also, I personally feel like I should justify my scrapbooking and stamping supplies. So, I’ve found a way to to utilize my stamps, even older ones, in my scrapbooking. I’ll take you through a short tutorial at the end of this post.

Now for the feature presentation! My “So You” Claire large tag mini album! I love making mini albums, especially with these large shipping tags. They’re just a little larger than 3×6″, which is a great size for all those Instagram photos I’ve been taking. Mini albums are also a great way to use up those supplies pretty quickly.

Most of the die cuts are from the Artiste Cartridge. Let me tell you I LOVE this cart!! I don’t think I’ve ever been happier with the actual images and quantity of images on a single cart. That’s saying a lot since I have my share 🙂

029 031 033 032 034 035 036 037 039 040 042 043 045

I took this challenge a bit further than just using up your current and older supplies. I wanted to use an ‘older’ stamp, or stamp set, in a new way! I used the Wheel of Life (June Stamp of the Month) to create this little 2×2” cluster of words as a journaling block. This die cut journaling spot is also on the Artiste Cartridge along with many others.

My process: Gather your clear stamps to use in the collage (of sorts) and arrange them in your journaling block or directly onto your scrapbook page. Once you have the words or images arranged to your liking, press your CTMH Acrylic Block directly on top of those stamps to adhere them to the block. Gently lift up the acrylic block to create your NEW stamp. Ink it up and stamp as usual with your favorite CTMH Ink. Pretty easy, right!?

047 048

Here’s a little twist on that technique. Add a small word somewhere in the midst of that journaling block with your CTMH Kraft alphabet stickers. Next, arrange your other stamps around the stickers for another cool effect!

Close To My Heart supplies:

~ Liquid Glass to create all those little shiny details and to adhere all my little clouds and banner

~ Claire paper

~ Gems and Acrylic flowers

Other Supplies: Large shipping tags and mini glassine bags from my Etsy Shop HERE and seam binding from my stash.

I hope I’ve inspired you to keep using the stamps in your stash and not let them collect any dust! Stamps are some of the best tools we have yes I meant to say tool. We just need to find new and creative ways to keep using them.

Please stop by Lynn and Kim’s blog too! These ladies always create something fantastic.

Im now linked into BlogLovin’ for your blog reading pleasure. I’d love for you to follow me!

Happy Scrappin’!
