A Beautiful Mess with Sarah

Pockets Of Your Life

Hello SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today and I have something new and exciting to share with you all!  With the beginning of the new year I started a new way of documenting and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have.  It’s my new “No rules, just fun” approach to documenting.  No more keeping track of week numbers and dates.  No more stressing over taking a bunch of pictures every week!  I am simply documenting the activities I want to.  Telling the stories that are important to me and my family.  And using the products that I am most excited about!  Here is my project for today using my new 9×12 album from A Beautiful Mess:

Flat Lay

I used the January 2017 Studio Calico Documentor Kit, and of course a bunch of goodies from the SMS shop!

IMG_1296

I cut an acetate sheet from Illustrated Faith down to 6×8 and punched holes in it so it would fit in my album.  I added the SC exclusive Jasmine Jones rubber “January” and I used some old Dear Lizzy Thickers from my stash to spell out “stories”.  I also added a gorgeous new Corky Flakes.  I used my sewing machine to adhere them.

IMG_1299

My husband and I went on a romantic mini break to Lake City and I printed out 14 pictures from that weekend at 3×3.  I cut a few of the Studio Calico cards from the Documentor Kit down to 3×3 also.  I added my hand written journalling on a piece of exclusive One Little Bird ephemera.

IMG_1304

I added some of the amazing new Strawberry Bubblegum sequin mix to one of the 3×3 pockets and sewed it shut with my sewing machine.

IMG_1302

I used a few tiny word stickers and the XO heart from the December Citrus Twist kit.  I stamped the date with my new Pebbles roller date stamper.  I had to retire my Becky Higgins one as it only went thru 2016!  I also added a few bits of wood veneer from Citrus Twist.

IMG_1306

I added another Corky Flake to a 3×3 pocket!  It is large enough and sturdy enough to just slip into the pocket.  No need to sew it shut!

I hope you have enjoyed my first project using this new form of documenting!  Look for more from me next!

Wk 44b

I used Maggie Holmes Gather and Fancy Pants Golden Days for this spread.

IMG_1164

I started with my title card to set the tone for the whole spread.  I chose the bird patterned paper from Gather and added a 3×6 strip of vellum and sewed it on with my sewing machine.  I added the “Wild” worth Thicker from the Page Evans Take Me Away Collection.  I embellished with a die cut left from Jen Hadfield Warn & Cozy and added a Cork Confetti Heart.

IMG_1166

I made a fun filler card using a piece of gold and cream specialty paper from Recollections.  I added a die cut flower and sewed it on with my sewing machine.  I added a few arrow Thickers.

IMG_1171

I made a 4×6 shaker element by filling a 4×6 Becky Higgins Fuse Brand flip pocket with Autumn Joy Sequin Mix and Gold Confetti Hearts.  I added the large “Lovely” Thicker and an epoxy sticker from Golden Days.

IMG_1168

I embellished these pictures with tiny word stickers from Gather and an acetate piece from Golden Days.

IMG_1175

I made a fun film strip 4×6 card and embellished it with ephemera from Gather, a word Thicker from Take Me Away and a Cork Confetti Heart.  I made a 3×4 filler card with another leaf from Warm & Cozy and more arrow Thicker.

IMG_1177

I added a boarder in gold thread with my sewing machine and an enamel sticker from Gather for the bird 3×4. I also gave it a good splatter of Heidi Shine in Gold.  I made a filler card with half of a 4″ White Lace Paper Doily and a flower paper ephemera from Golden Days.  I also added a couple of tiny word sticker and another Cork Confetti Heart.  I added an enamel leaf and the “Fun” word Thicker to the top 4×6 photo.  I embellished the entire spread with enamel dots and Kaisercraft gems.

Shake It Sunday Christmas Edition!!!

shake-it-up-scrapbooking

Merry Christmas, SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today and I am bringing you another installment of Shake It Sunday!  Today I will be sharing a December Daily page with you!  Here it is:dec-21

img_0740

I started with two pieces of American Crafts Textured white Cardstock.  I ran them thru my Silhouette to cut out two identical snowflakes about 6×6.  I then cut the papers down to about 8×8.5 and hole punched them so they would fit in my Doodlebug 8×8 album.

img_0744

I cut the branded edge off of an 8×8 page protector, filled it with the gorgeous Wedding Bells Sequin Mix and sewed it shut.  I then adhered my papers to each side of the protector and ran it thru my machine again.

img_0742

I created a paper cluster using ephemera from Crate Paper Snow and Cocoa to tuck behind my 3×4 photo. I also added half of a Mini Glassine Bag.  I embellished with a puffy snowman and some enamel dots and gems.  I tucked in an Always Aqua Heart Felt too!

img_0748

I used the back side of my page to add the journalling.  I was careful to cover up exactly the areas of the snowflake that the picture covered on the other side.  I typed my journalling on an exclusive Project Life card from the Document December Kit from Hip Kit Club.  I embellished this side in a very similar manner to the other side to ensure continuity.

I hope you have enjoyed my December Daily Day 21!  You can see the video here:

Document December with Sarah

scrapbook-sessions

Hello SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today and I am sharing my December 13th page in my Document December!  Here it is:

dec-13

I am using a Doodlebug Designs 8×8 album and I am doing a lot of pages not in page protectors!  For this page I used an exclusive paper from Hip Kit Club and a piece of vellum from my stash.   I started by trimming the 12×12 paper down to about 9×8.5.  Then I trimmed the 12×12 vellum down to 9×7.5 and added a line of machine stitching on the top and bottom.  I adhered my Christmas card down with my EZ Runner Grand.  The number 13 is from the DIY Shop.

img_0683

I used my Evolution Advanced to die cut a few snowflakes using my Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Snowflakes Dies.  I cut them out using American Crafts Textured White Cardstock.  I also cut a few out using an iridescent glitter cardstock.

img_0687

I tucked a Small Glassine Bag behind my card and inserted two different tags from the Crate Paper Snow and Cocoa collection after I did my journalling on them.  I added a rubber charm embellished paper clip also from Snow and Cocoa.

img_0685

I added the date using my Becky Higgins Roller Date Stamper and a label from Pretty Little Studio.  I then embellished the whole spread with Kaisercraft gems, Doodlebug enamel dots and sequins from Holiday Traditions, Wedding Bells and Pinky Pie Pinks!

I hope you have enjoyed my layout from my Document December!  Look for more from me on Christmas Day when I will have my latest installment of Shake It Sunday!

All That Glitters with Sarah

shake-it-up-scrapbooking

Happy December, SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today with a super fun shaker page for my December Daily.  I have been keeping up with my December Daily so far this month and I am excited to show it to you all!  Here it is:

all-that-glitters

I started with three pieces of American Crafts White Textured Cardstock.  I used a View Master cut file from the Silhouette Store and cut it out at 8 inches three times.  I used an extra 8×8 page protector and cut two circles just smaller that 8 inches.  I used my EZ Runner Grand to adhere the page protector circles to the cut files.

img_0581

I sewed them together with my sewing machine leaving a 3 inch space. I then filled it with Glass Slippers Sequin Mix and then finished sewing it shut.  I sewed the same circles on the third cut file and adhered it to my page.  I did this so you would’t see the back side of the stitching.   Once I had my shaker element in place it was time to start embellishing.

img_0587

I printed my photo off at about 2×4 and adhered it down with my EZ Runner Grand.  I added to title with some old Thickers from my stash.  I used a foam dot to pop up a die cut snowflake and tucked a Cork Confetti Heat and an Always Aqua Felt Fetti Heart under it.

img_0583

I added my journalling that I typed out on my antique typewriter.  I embellished with a few enamel dots and Kaisercraft gems.

img_0585

I added a few tree stickers and a phrase sticker from the Crate Paper Snow and Cocoa collection.  I also stamped the date with my Becky Higgins roller date stamper.  This page will go into my December Daily in a full 8×8 page protector.

I hope you have enjoyed my fun shaker page for my December Daily.  Look for more from me next week and don’t forget to stop by on the 15th for a blog hop!  Also,  today is the 13th and part of the SMS 12 Days of Christmas Sale you can use the code 50STAMP to get 50% your purchase of stamps and ink from the shop!

Shake It Sunday w/ Sarah

Hello scrappy friends!  It’s Sarah on the blog today with a 12×12 layout and a YouTube video to go with it !  This week the Sparklers and I are using this fun sketch from Let’s Get Sketchy!  Here it is:

img_0151

I found a few old Christmas pictures of my oldest daughter that needed to be scrapped and this was the perfect opportunity!  Here is my layout:

joy

I started with a piece of American Crafts Textured White Cardstock and grabbed a bunch of goodies my stash and from the shop and got started!

img_0156

Following the sketch, I used my sewing machine to make four circles in gold thread using my sewing machine.  I layered pieces of patterned paper from Studio Calico Felix, Pink Paislee Bella Rouge, Crate Paper Open Book, and Basic Grey Juniper Berry.  I added one of the new 8″ Chantilly Lace Paper Doilies and added some stitching.

img_0164

I also added an acetate piece from Michael’s Recollections brand. I adhered it down with my EZ Runner Grand.  I tucked a few paper, chipboard and puffy sticker baubles from My Mind’s Eye on either sides of the photos.

img_0162

I filled a Mini Glassine Bag with Fairy Dust, Passion Flower Sequin Mix and Gold Sweetheart Confetti Sequins.  I sewed it shut with my sewing machine and tucked it behind the smaller photo.

img_0158

I added my title from Pinkfresh Studios and glued on a bunch of sequins around the circles.  I also added a few enamel stars, Kaisercraft gems and Studio Calico wood veneer stars.  I finished it off with a good splatter of Heidi Shine in Mint, Pink and Gold!

I hope you have enjoyed my latest edition of Shake It Sunday!  You can see the YouTube video here:

Let’s Get Sketchy “Door County” w/ Sarah

scrapbook-sessions

Hello again, SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today with another fun 8.5×11 layout using this gorgeous sketch from Let’s Get Sketchy!  Here is the sketch:

fb_img_1479669035469

I still have a tiny bit of my Maggie Holmes Gather and Simple Stories Reset Girl Collections.  I also have just a couple more photos from our Door County summer vacation to document.  Here is my take on the sketch:

door-co-w-footer

I stared by trimming down a 12×12 piece of American Crafts White Textured Cardstock down to 8.5×11.  Then I grabbed the last few scraps of my Gather and Reset Girl papers and got started!  I used my EZ Runner Grand to adhere strips of ripped patterned paper down, following the sketch.   I also added a Medium Glassine Bag filled with Mocha Mint Dream sequin mix and a few Gold Heart Confetti Sequins.  I only used the top half of the bag and sewed the top and bottom shut using my sewing machine.

img_20161109_153100

I aslo sewed a line using my sewing machine and gold thread to make a line to accent my title.  I used some old Moonlight Thickers from my stash for the title.  I tucked a WRMK Typecast tag under the title.  I added a Cork Confetti Heart under a heart sticker from Gather.  I added a good splatter of Heidi Shine in Gold and a few enamel dots and gems.

img_20161109_153130

I used a jumbo gold paper clip and a tassle from Gather to add dimension to the Medium Glassine Bag filled with sequins.  I added a sticker from the Gather sticker sheet and a few tiny word stickers.

img_20161109_153151

I added a few strips of ripped paper and half of a White Paper Lace Doily to the top of the page and added more stitching.  I finished off the top cluster with a fun chipboard element from Gather.

I hope you enjoyed this fun and easy layout using the amazing sketch of the week from Let’s Get Sketchy!  Look for more from me next week when I will be bringing you Shake It Sunday on the SMS YouTube channel!  Don’t miss it!
