Shake It Sunday w/ Sarah

Hello scrappy friends!  It’s Sarah on the blog today with a 12×12 layout and a YouTube video to go with it !  This week the Sparklers and I are using this fun sketch from Let’s Get Sketchy!  Here it is:

img_0151

I found a few old Christmas pictures of my oldest daughter that needed to be scrapped and this was the perfect opportunity!  Here is my layout:

joy

I started with a piece of American Crafts Textured White Cardstock and grabbed a bunch of goodies my stash and from the shop and got started!

img_0156

Following the sketch, I used my sewing machine to make four circles in gold thread using my sewing machine.  I layered pieces of patterned paper from Studio Calico Felix, Pink Paislee Bella Rouge, Crate Paper Open Book, and Basic Grey Juniper Berry.  I added one of the new 8″ Chantilly Lace Paper Doilies and added some stitching.

img_0164

I also added an acetate piece from Michael’s Recollections brand. I adhered it down with my EZ Runner Grand.  I tucked a few paper, chipboard and puffy sticker baubles from My Mind’s Eye on either sides of the photos.

img_0162

I filled a Mini Glassine Bag with Fairy Dust, Passion Flower Sequin Mix and Gold Sweetheart Confetti Sequins.  I sewed it shut with my sewing machine and tucked it behind the smaller photo.

img_0158

I added my title from Pinkfresh Studios and glued on a bunch of sequins around the circles.  I also added a few enamel stars, Kaisercraft gems and Studio Calico wood veneer stars.  I finished it off with a good splatter of Heidi Shine in Mint, Pink and Gold!

I hope you have enjoyed my latest edition of Shake It Sunday!  You can see the YouTube video here:

Let’s Get Sketchy “Door County” w/ Sarah

scrapbook-sessions

Hello again, SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today with another fun 8.5×11 layout using this gorgeous sketch from Let’s Get Sketchy!  Here is the sketch:

fb_img_1479669035469

I still have a tiny bit of my Maggie Holmes Gather and Simple Stories Reset Girl Collections.  I also have just a couple more photos from our Door County summer vacation to document.  Here is my take on the sketch:

door-co-w-footer

I stared by trimming down a 12×12 piece of American Crafts White Textured Cardstock down to 8.5×11.  Then I grabbed the last few scraps of my Gather and Reset Girl papers and got started!  I used my EZ Runner Grand to adhere strips of ripped patterned paper down, following the sketch.   I also added a Medium Glassine Bag filled with Mocha Mint Dream sequin mix and a few Gold Heart Confetti Sequins.  I only used the top half of the bag and sewed the top and bottom shut using my sewing machine.

img_20161109_153100

I aslo sewed a line using my sewing machine and gold thread to make a line to accent my title.  I used some old Moonlight Thickers from my stash for the title.  I tucked a WRMK Typecast tag under the title.  I added a Cork Confetti Heart under a heart sticker from Gather.  I added a good splatter of Heidi Shine in Gold and a few enamel dots and gems.

img_20161109_153130

I used a jumbo gold paper clip and a tassle from Gather to add dimension to the Medium Glassine Bag filled with sequins.  I added a sticker from the Gather sticker sheet and a few tiny word stickers.

img_20161109_153151

I added a few strips of ripped paper and half of a White Paper Lace Doily to the top of the page and added more stitching.  I finished off the top cluster with a fun chipboard element from Gather.

I hope you enjoyed this fun and easy layout using the amazing sketch of the week from Let’s Get Sketchy!  Look for more from me next week when I will be bringing you Shake It Sunday on the SMS YouTube channel!  Don’t miss it!

Hello SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog again today with Sparkler DT Sara’s Squares Sketch!  The Sparklers are teaming up with Let’s Get Sketchy for some fun inspiration this month!  Here is Sara’s sketch:

fb_img_1479157076380

This week you will see lots of fun layouts using this sketch.  Here is my take:

silly-selfie-wfooter

I used the very last of my Door County Traveler’s Notebook supplies on this project!  The items I used include; Maggie Holmes Gather, Simple Stories Reset Girl Collection and Maggie Holmes Open Book.

img_20161109_151538_1479156795567

I started by cutting a 12×12 piece of American Crafts Textured White Cardstock down to 8.5×11.  I then cut up my last few scraps of Gather and Reset Girl papers down to different sized small squares.  I even used a scrap of the beautiful Open Book gold on vellum dictionary specialty paper.  I used my sewing machine and gold thread to sew a few of the pieces on.

img_20161109_152924

I matted my photo on to a 6×6 piece of Large Glassine Bag and added a strip of coral floral paper from Gather.  I typed my journalling on my antique typewriter.  I added a rectangle of paper to add my title to.  I also tucked half of a Lace Paper Doily behind the journalling.

img_20161109_152945

I embellished with a few die cut leaves from cork, glitter card stock and watercolor paper.  I also added a couple of the beautiful Always Aqua Heat Felties.  They match the Gather Collection so nicely!  I then added a few enamel dots and gems.  Then I finished it off with gluing down a several Glass Slipper Sequins and a good dose of Heidi Shine in Gold.

I hope you enjoyed my take on Sara’s Squares Sketch.  Look for more layouts using this sketch this week!

Shake It Sunday with Sarah

shake-it-up-scrapbooking

Hello SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today with another fun traveler’s notebook spread and a YouTube video too!  I am still working on my Door County vacation traveler’s notebook and I am so excited to share more of it with you.  Here it is:

tn-w-footer

I had so much fun making this spread!  I made my own inserts using papers from Maggie Homes Gather and Simple Stories Reset Girl Collection.  I also added a few pieces of watercolor paper, printed vellum, pocket life pages, and acetate.   I used ephemera from the same collections as the papers.

img_20161026_113126

I started by layering a Gold Foil Doily on the watercolor paper background.  I filled a Mini Glassine Bag with some of the gorgeous Mocha Mint Dream sequin mix and sewed it shut with my sewing machine.  I adhered it with my EZ Runner Grand and placed my 3×4 picture on top.  I tucked a Medium Shipping Tag behind the photo and added a paper clip from the Reset Girl Collection.

img_20161026_113148

I glued on a Chunky Cork Heart and embellished with enamel dots and gems.  I used my typewriter to type on my WRMK label and gave the spread a healthy dose of Heidi Shine in Gold.  I also added the date with my Becky Higgins roller date stamper with Staz-on ink.

I hope you are enjoying my traveler’s notebook spreads!  You can see the YouTube video here:

Happy Mail Thank You with Sarah

shake-it-up-scrapbooking

Hello again, SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today with a happy mail thank you card!  I recently received an amazing happy mail all the way from Australia and wanted to send a fun-filled thank you in return!  So, I grabbed a few supplies from my stash and a bunch of goodies from the SMS shop and got started.  Here it is:

happy-mail-wfooter

The recipient loves Christmas an I had a lot of stuff leftover from my December Daily last year.  This was the perfect opportunity to use some of it up.  I had papers from the Ashley G. collection and Basic Grey Juniper Berry.  Also, ephemera from Elle’s Studio and Basic Grey.

img_20161017_183143

I started out by making a simple 3 envelope flip book.  I cut papers down to size to fit the envelopes, both outside and inside.  I filled each one with goodies from my stash and from the SMS shop!  Here you can see that I filled it with a few Mini Glassine Bags, washi samples and Rockin’ Red Stars sequins.  I also made a flip element out of an old acetate 3×4 card from Pinkfresh Studio!

img_20161017_183116

I filled this one with ephemera, Gold Foil Doilies and acetate pieces.  I embellished with some Cork Stars, enamel dots, gems and pearls.

img_20161017_183050

This pocket I filled with acetate 3×4 cards, White Lace Doilies and some of the Aqua Marine Dream Sequin Mix.

img_20161017_183019

I decorated the back of the flip book in a similar manner to the front.  I used a large die cut glitter snowflake from Pebbles and the “celebrate” sticker also from Pebbles.  I used my typewriter to make my own tiny word stickers!

img_20161017_182913

I also made a fun little goodie bag filled with extras that were too big to fit in the flip book.  I used a Medium Glassine Bag and filled it full.  I stapled it shut with my tiny attacher and adhered a Gold Foil Doily with my E-Z Runner Grand.   I embellished with a kraft tag, a glitter snowflake, and wood veneer.  I also added some sparkle to the entire project with some of the Pinky Pie Pinks Sequin Mix.  I just glued them on with some Tombow Mono Multiglue!

I hope you have enjoyed this happy mail thank you flip book as much as I enjoyed making it!  Look for more from me on the blog next week!

Hello SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today with a super fun traveler’s notebook spread for you!  My family took our summer vacation to Door County in August and I’ve started documenting it in a Webster’s Pages Color Crush Traveler’s Notebook!  Here it is:

tn-wfooter

I made my own notebook using papers from Maggie Holmes Gather and the new Simple Stories Reset Girl collection.  I also used some acetate sheets, watercolor paper, vellum and pocket pages in my homemade notebook.  I grabbed a bunch of goodies from the SMS shop and got started!

img_20161009_143300

I stared by using a White Paper Doily and layering a tag from the Gather collection on top.  I filled a Mini Glassine bag with Mocha Mint Dream sequin mix and added a few Gold Sweetheart Confetti Sequins to it.  I sewed it shut with my sewing machine, adhered it with my EZ Runner Grand and placed a picture of my tootsies on the pool over it.  I adhered it with some of the Reset Girl washi tape.

img_20161009_164817

I embellished with enamel dots, gems and pearls.  I also added a gorgeous Confetti Cork Heart.  I typed my journalling on a WRMK Typeset label sticker from Michael’s.

img_20161009_143330

I also used a Confetti Cork Heart on the opposite side.  I used an acetate piece from the Gather collection and tucked it behind a piece of paper ephemera from Gather.  I added “DAY 3” with some old Maggie Holmes Styleboard Thickers.  Also embellished with enamel dots, gems and pearls.  I stamped the date with my Becky Higgins roller date stamper.

Shake It Sunday with Sarah!!!

shake-it-up-scrapbooking

Hello SMS fans! It’s Sarah on the blog today with another installment of Shake It Sunday.  As always, I will show you how to use the sequins in the shop in a fun and crafty way!  For today I made a fun and easy 8.5×11 layout.  Here it is:

bookworm

I started with some ephemera from My Mind’s Eye On Trend 2 and a ton of goodies from the shop!  First, I trimmed a 12×12 piece of American Crafts Textured White Cardstock down to 8.5×11.  I also trimmed down a flamingo patterned piece of acetate from Recollections down to 6×11.  I sewed it onto my layout using my sewing machine and filled it with Peachy Sherbet, Mint Chip and Gold Sweetheart Sequin Mixes.

img_20160918_170652

I adhered a 6″ Gold Foil Doily with my EZ Runner Grand and started embellishing with the ephemera from On Trend 2.  I added my picture, and then my title using the Palm Spring Thickers from Dear Lizzy.

img_20160918_170557

I tucked one of the new Mini Glassine Bags behind the photo to add dimension.  I also stamped the date on with my Becky Higgins Roller Date Stamp.

img_20160918_170713

I made a small embellishment cluster near the top and embellished it with a Cork Confetti Heart, a tiny word sticker and enamel dots and pearls.

img_20160918_170630

I finished up my embellishing with a couple of the new Cork Confetti Chevrons and more enamel dots and pearls.

I hope you enjoyed my latest installment of Shake It Sunday!  You can watch the YouTube video here:

Pocket Life Week 25 with Sarah

pockets-of-your-life

Hello, SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today with more fun Pocket Life to share!  Today I have Week 25 to show you!  Here it is:

week-25a

week-25b

This week came together so quickly and easily using Better Together, Fancy Free, Happy Place and Everyday collections.  And, of course, a ton of pretties from the SMS shop.

img_20160910_182650

I stared with my title card, as always.  I added a few strips of paper and a strip of Large Glassine Bag to a piece of American Crafts White Textured Cardstock.  I embellished with acetate, Thickers, Sunny Smiles Sequins and some of the brand new Star Cork Confetti.  I made a fun shaker pocket with the same Sunny Smiles Sequins by filling a 3×4 Becky Higgins Fuse brand flip pocket and sewing it shut.

img_20160910_182714

I used a 3×4 picture on a 4×6 piece of patterned paper from Happy Place.  I layered on the ephemera and embellished with a large gold paper clip, resin stars, Sunny Smiles Sequins and more of the Cork Star Confetti.

img_20160910_183121

I typed my journalling on my typewriter and placed in on the pictures this week!  I enjoyed mixing up how I normally do my journalling,

img_20160910_183145

I added Thickers directly on a photo of popcorn and added more Sunny Smiles Sequins and Cork Star Confetti.  I also made my own filler card using a 3×4 piece of American Crafts White Textured Cardstock and sewing an acetate embellishment on it.  I added an enamel dot, a sequin and a gem!

img_20160910_183206

I really love using the gorgeous sequins from the shop in place of expensive enamel dots!  Here you can see that I placed them on this 4×6 card just as I would enamel dots!

img_20160910_182741

I made another 4×6 card with a 3×4 picture on it.  I love how this leaves lots of room for embellishments.  Here I added some ephemera, journalling and more of the gorgeous sequins and Confetti Stars!

Well, that’s all from me today!  I hope you enjoyed my latest installment of Pocket Life.  Look for more from me later this month!

Adventure @ Minnehaha Pocket Life with Sarah

Hello there, SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog again today with another Pocket Life spread for you.  We were really busy this summer enjoying the beautiful weather and exploring all of the fun things to do in the Twin Cities.  I try to plan one special outing every week while my girls are out of school and that means lots of extra pictures!  I find that it is frequently too many pictures to squeeze into my normal PL weekly pages, so I usually make a special two page spread for every outing.  Here is our first adventure of the summer:

Adventure A+Adventure B

We visited Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis and had a picnic lunch.  To document this event, I used collections from Amy Tangerine, Jen Hadfield and Dear Lizzy.  And, as always, a bunch of fun goodies from the SMS shop!

IMG_20160905_180538

I used a lime green piece of patterned paper from Dear Lizzy Happy place for my title card.  I added a 3×4 piece of Large Glassine Bag and filled it with Spring Blooms Sequin Mix, a few seed beads from my stash and some chunky glitter.  I sewed it onto the card with my sewing machine. I added the Amy Tangerine word Thicker and some enamel letter stickers from Fancy Pants.  I embellished with some Heidi Shine in Teal and a couple of the new Hot Pink Heart Felties.  I also made a fun filler card using a sticker from the Happy Place collection and adding a few of the Spring Blooms Sequins.

IMG_20160905_180620

I love using sequins in place of expensive enamel dots!  On this 4×6 picture I added a few above some letter stickers and added a pink gem.  Above, on the 3×4 filler card, I gave it a good splatter of Heidi Shine in Teal and more Spring Bloom Sequins.  They are such a perfect match to the Dear Lizzy Happy Place collection!

IMG_20160905_180851

I made a 4×6 filler card using a teal piece of patterned paper from the Jen Hadfield Everyday collection and sewing on a triangle of Large Glassine Bag to create a pocket.  I sewed the pocket on and then filled it with ephemera and a Medium White Shipping Tag.  I added a flower sticker from Dear Lizzy and embellished with Spring Blooms Sequins and some pink gems.

IMG_20160905_180924

I made a super fun shaker flip pocket using a 3×4 Becky Higgins Fuse brand flip pocket and filling it with a piece of acetate ephemera from Happy Place and adding some of the Spring Blooms Sequin Mix, some chunky glitter and a few seed beads from my stash.  I sewed it shut with my sewing machine, but you could also use a Fuse tool for this.

IMG_20160905_180952

I embellished this 4×6 picture with an Amy Tangerine word Thicker, sequins, gems and another Hot Pink Heart Feltie.  I also used a Heart Feltie on the 3×4 above it, this time using my Tiny Attacher.

Well, that does it from me today!  I hope you enjoyed my project and that it can bring you some crafty inspiration!  Look for more PL posts from me this month!

Shake It Sunday with Sarah

Shake It Up ScrapbookingHi SMS fans, it’s Sarah on the blog today with a fun Pocket Life insert and a Youtube video to go with it!  I am still using up my stash of Fancy Free and I made a quick PL insert to go in my Week 24.  I chose more masculine colors as the insert is all about a fishing trip that my husband and his brother went on.  Here it is:

Best Day 1

Best Day 2

I started with a few of the patterned papers from Fancy Free and Basic Grey Saturday Morning.  I cut them down to size for my PL pockets.  I used a Design 3 Becky Higgins brand 6×8 page protector.  IMG_20160824_164956

As always, I started with my title card as it sets the tone and color scheme for the whole layout.  I grabbed a 4×6 piece of patterned paper from Saturday Morning and added a lime green strip from Fancy Free and a navy blue strip from Saturday Morning.  I sewed them on with my sewing machine and added the “Best Ever” title using the glitter foam word stickers from Pinkfresh Studios Felicity collection. I embellished with Chunky Cork Stars and enamel dots.

IMG_20160824_162150

I filled one of the 3×4 pockets with some of the gorgeous Magical Ocean Sequin Mix and sewed it shut with my sewing machine.  I also made a filler card with the “Best Day Ever” card from the Jillybean Soup cut apart sheet by giving it a good splatter of Heidi Shine in white and adding some enamel dots and gems.

IMG_20160824_162221

I made a fun filler card using a 3×4 piece of watercolor teal paper from Fancy Free and adhered a 3×3 piece of polka dot paper from Saturday Morning using my E-Z Runner Grand and tucked in a small piece of silver glitter paper at each end.  I sewed them on wth my sewing machine.  I layered a Medium White Shipping Tag underneath a tag from the Fancy Free collection and then I embellished with a Chunky Cork Star and some enamel dots and gems.

You can watch the corresponding YouTube video here:

Flip File Happy Mail with Sarah

Shake It Up Scrapbooking

Good day, SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today with something totally different from me; a flip file happy mail!  I’m so excited to show this to you all, here it is:

Flip File

I started with just two pieces of Doodlebug Designs patterned paper and added a few bits from my stash and, of course, a bunch of goodies from the SMS shop!

IMG_20160808_185623

I started with a 6×12 piece of the striped paper to make the file folder itself and used two 6×3 pieces of a coordinating patterned paper to make the accordion pieces on the sides.  You can find many process videos on YouTube on making these flip files.  Then I started embellishing like crazy!

IMG_20160808_185830

I filled it with a few pieces of patterned acetate, a few pieces of Studio Calico acetate ephemera  and extra Pocket Life cards.  I added some fun Kaisercraft Summer Word Dies in coordinating colors.  I  also added a couple of the beautiful Cloudy Days felt clouds and some fun paper clips in gold.

IMG_20160808_185910

I made three fun baggies filled with Hot Right Now Mix, Lucky Charm Mix and Passion Flower Mix.  I hand punched a glitter heart in a coordinating color and added Wood Mini Clothespins to keep the hearts attached.

IMG_20160808_185717

I also made three fun tags using three Medium White Shipping Tags and I gave them each a good splat of Tim Holtz ink and a splatter of Heidi Shine in coordinating colors.  I stamped a sentiment on each and added some old Thickers from my stash as a greeting to the recipient.

Flip File

For the outside, I added a White Paper Lace Doily and the Happy Mail Thickers.  I gave the front a good splatter of Heidi Shine and embellished with enamel dots and gems.  I finished it off with a length of black tulle from my stash to keep it closed.

I hope you have enjoyed this fun happy mail from me today!  Check the blog for more from me next week and as always, look for a new Shake It Sunday video on the SMS YouTube channel on the last Sunday of every month!

Greetings again, SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today with another PL layout for you all!  I have been working on my PL a lot lately and I am very excited to show you my Week 22!  Here it is:

Week 22a

Week 22b

I am still using up my big stash of Fancy Free, She Blooms and Saturday Morning.  I try to put a different “kit” together from my stash every month and stick to it for at least four weeks to keep my PL albums looking cohesive and give them some flow.

IMG_20160810_102318

As always, I started with my title card and used similar embellishments and techniques across the two page spread to add balance.  I started with a 4×6 piece of coral patterned paper from Basic Grey Saturday Morning and stitched along the boarder.  I adhered a small piece of Large Glassine Bag with my E-Z Runner Grand and embellished with ephemera and chipboard from Fancy Free and She Blooms.  I also added a Flutter Cork Butterfly and some enamel dots and gems.

IMG_20160810_102343

I did my journalling on a 4×6 piece of patterned paper from Fancy Free and adhered half of a White Paper Lace Doily and embellished with Cloudy Days Felt Clouds and a puffy cloud sticker from Fancy Free.  I added a tiny word sticker from Dear Lizzy Happy Place.

IMG_20160810_102423

I made a fun filler card with a 3×4 piece of patterned paper from Fancy Free by hand punching some 2″ circles, sewing them in place and layering on some chipboard buttons.  I added the chipboard “love” from She Blooms and embellished with a Flutter Cork Butterfly.

IMG_20160810_102453

I made a fun shaker flip pocket using a Becky Higgins Fuse band 4×6 flip pocket and filling it with some of the gorgeous Pinky Pie Pinks Sequin Mix and I added a few seed beads from my stash.  I filled it up and sewed it shut with my sewing machine, but you could also used your Fuse Tool to seal it shut.  I used some old Dear Lizzy Documentary Thickers from my stash to add the title.

I printed out a couple of 3×4 horizontal pics this week to fill 4×6 cards, an I really like how it turned out!  Here I have a pic of a yummy dinner out that I embellished with an acetate piece from Fancy Free and some chipboard from She Blooms.  I stamped the date with my Becky Higgins Roller Date Stamper.  I also added another Flutter Cork Butterly and layered on a paper butterfly from Jillibean Soup Healthy Hello.  I made another fun 3×4 filler card by layering the Cloudy Days Felt Clouds with the glitter cloud that came in the Fancy Free Thickers.

IMG_20160810_103147

Here is the other horizontal 3×4 on a 4×6 card.  And yet another pic of going out to eat!  This time I added a White Paper Lace Doily and layered on the ephemera and chipboard.  I love filling the open spaces in embellishments with smaller bits!  I also added a wood veneer butterfly from Jillibean Soup Healthy Hello.

I hope you have enjoyed  my latest PL layout for you!  Look for more from me this month and don’t forget to tune into the SMS YouTube Channel on the last Sunday of every month to see my “Shake It Sunday” videos!

Tackling Tricky Inserts with Sarah!

Pockets Of Your Life

Hello, there, SMS fans!  It’s Sarah on the blog today and I’m tackling a tricky topic!  Pocket Life inserts.  Today I’ll show you an insert I created for my Week 19 and I’ll show you some tricks and tips on how to make them rock!  Here is my 6×12 insert that I photographed as a 12×12:

Insert

I started by cutting a WRMK 12×12 pocket page protector into a 6×12.  Then I grabbed the leftover supplies that I used from my Week 19 spread, a bunch of goodies from the SM shop, and got to work!

IMG_20160723_194202

I used some of the Pink Paislee Fancy Free, Jilibean Soup Healthy Hello, and Basic Grey Saturday Morning paper and ephemera.  I stared by making the 3×4 card that says “Pure Love”.  I tried make it match my title card from Week 19.  I layered a piece of Large Glassine Bag under a piece of navy patterned paper.  I then sewed in on with my sewing machine.  I gave the 4×6 aqua card a heavy dose of Heidi Shine in Butter.  I also used a fun Studio Calico Wood Veneer from the shop on the 3×4 picture.

IMG_20160723_194236

I made another filler card and embellished it with the Magical Ocean Sequins.  I layered on the ephemera and glued on some typed strips from the Pinkfresh Studio Felicity collection.

IMG_20160723_194309

I made a fun accent card from the Fancy Free cut apart sheet.  I stitched around it with my machine and gave it a few splatters of Heidi Shine in Butter and glued on a few Magical Ocean and Moonshine Delight Sequins.  I also embellished the 3×4 picture in a similar manner as the other one by adding a Studio Calico Wood Veneer and similar embellishments to add balance to my insert.

IMG_20160723_194139

I made a fun 3×4 pocket using a piece of patterned card stock and a small piece of bright pink vellum from my stash.  I sewed it in place, filled it with extra ephemera and layered on a glitter Thicker from Pinkfresh Studios.  I also made a embellishment cluster on a 4×6 picture to mimic ones that I made in my Week 19.  This adds a sense of cohesiveness to the spread and insert.  I used a couple of Cloudy Days Felties, added a die cut bird and once again added a few Magical Ocean Sequins.  Using sequins is a fun and inexpensive way to replace enamel dots!

I hope you enjoyed my fun and quick insert for Week 19!  Stayed tuned to the blog to see more from me this month!

Play 8.5×11 Layout with Sarah

Shake It Up Scrapbooking

Hello, SMS fans, it’s Sarah on the blog again today with a quick grid design 8.5×11 layout to share!  I wanted to get more of my Pink Paislee Fancy Free stash used up, so I grabbed what I had left and got going!  Here it is:

Play

I started my making 2.5×2.5 squares with the Fancy Free patterned paper.  I also cropped my photos that size.  I made little pockets for sequins out of Large Glassine Bag and filled them with    some of the Happy Dance Sequin Mix and sewed them shut with my sewing machine.  I arranged them in a grid pattern, adhered them with my E-Z Runner Grand and started embellishing!

I added a little bit of embellishing to each square.  I layered a Chunky Cork Heart with a puffy heart sticker from Fancy Free.  I used some enamel dots and Kaisercraft gems to add a little bling!  I also gave my layout a good splatter of Heidi Shine in Black, Lime and Teal.

Here you can get a close up of the Glassine Bag pockets that I filled with some of the Happy Dance Sequin Mix.  I also used a few of the glitter hearts that came in the Fancy Free Thicker Word pack.

I added my title “Play” from the Fancy Free Thicker Word pack over a Paper Lace Doily and added “Lyla” with the old enamel Thickers from the Dear Lizzy Documentary collection.  I added typed journalling that I typed on my typewriter and a few of the puffy sticker stitches from the puffy sticker pack from Fancy Free, stamped the date and called it done!

Week 17 Insert for Pocket Life with Sarah

Pockets Of Your Life

Hello SMS fans! It’s Sarah on the blog again today with more Pocket Life!  Today I have a quick insert for Week 17.  Here it is:

Week 17 Insert

It is a 6×12 insert that I played out flat to photograph, as PL layouts photograph better when they are not in the sleeves.  This insert documents a trip my mom took to North Carolina and my girls and I took care of her cats and ran her errands for her.

I used the new Jilibean Soup Healthy Hello collection and, of course, a bunch of goodies from the SMS shop.

DSC00179

I started with a gorgeous 4×6 picture of the Blue Ridge Mountains and added the “fun times’ die cut words from Kaisercraft.  The Kaisercraft dies go thru glitter card stock like a hot knife thru butter!  I added a star sticker, a cork star and I stamped the date right on the photo with my Staz-On ink in Black.

DSC00180

I had another 4×6 picture of a Moonshine distillery that I embellished with a Cloudy Days Felt Cloud and I added a hand punched glitter heart and cork heart.  I also added an enamel dot.

DSC00181

I used the gorgeous Believe In You Sequin Mix to add a shaker pocket.  The colors in the mix coordinate perfectly with the Jilibean Soup Healthy Hello Collection!

DSC00182

I put a 3×4 picture of Grandfather Mountain on a 4×6 card and layered a Medium White Shipping Tag with a kraft tag from Jilibean Soup and added a Cloudy Days Felt Cloud and a few hand punched stars and enamel dots.

DSC00183

For my last card I added a 3×4 picture of my oldest daughter outside the post office getting grandma’s mail to a 4×6 piece of patterned paper from Healthy Hello.  I added a Lace Paper Doily under the picture and embellished with hand punched glitter and cork stars.  I also added a Jilibean wood veneer word and wood spool.  I typed the journalling on my antique typewriter.

I hope you enjoyed my latest installment of Pocket Life!  Look for more from me next Monday and remember that the last Monday of the month I’ll have another “Shake It Monday” Youtube video!
