What About Wednesday: Bloom
Aloha My scrappy friends!! Today is my last blog post in this design team season. It is definitely sad to see some of the ladies I have become really good friends with go. Though I am excited for them and the future adventures I know they will have. I am also so excited to see what this new team brings to the table. Pushing and inspiring each other to create and make even better projects and layouts.
Since we are thinking along the lines of new beginnings, I decided to make a spring layout. When we bought our new house this past year we didn’t really know all the flowers and plants the previous had planted in the yard. By the time we looked at the house it was summer and most of the spring flowers were gone. The owner had also used rocks to cover the flower beds.
I am not sure if this was to have a cleaner look or because of all the rain. But this spring as green shoots grew up from the rocks the kids and I started to get really excited about all the growth. What would be coming from these leaves and how many.
We got lucky and had some daffodils, some tulips, a lilac type tree, and these really pretty pink and purple flowers. covered in droplets of rain they just glimmer, I took out my nice DSLR and captured their beauty. I am glad I did because a few days later my girls picked over half the flowers and then the rain just knocked them down. They were gorgeous and regal looking for the short time they made their appearance.
I knew that when making a layout with this image, I wanted a collection that would really bring out the colors in the picture. The Pink Paislee Paige Evans Oh My Heart Collection has tons of flowers and purples. Starting with white cardstock, I cut it down to 8 1/2 by 11 and then matted it with a pretty green watercolor patterned paper. Using this size really just makes the photo be front and center and the focal piece.
At the top of the layout I added some purple acrylic paint and a stencil with Shimmerz Paste-eez Salt of the Earth paste. I wanted a light stenciled pattern over the purple. I knew my photo would cover most of it so I only needed it to be subtle.
Under the photo I built an embellishment cluster on a white doily. I layered a tag, some die cut flowers, some chipboard pieces, and some small grey feltie hearts. I used my tiny attacher to adhere some of my pieces for some metal texture.
I used gold glitter thickers on the bottom of the photo for that WOW factor. These are my favorite thickers, they really add a punch of amazingness especially when you add them right on the photo.
On the bottom half of the layout I layered strips of patterned paper from the Pink Paislee Paige Evans Oh My Heart collection. I used colors that were already in my photo, except for the pink. I had wished that color was in there just because a dash of pink always makes things look better.
In different areas of the layers I added die cut flowers from the collection. I stapled some on, used my tape runner and also pop dotted some of the flowers. I really wanted to create a lot of dimension in the layers.
I also tucked in some wood hearts from the Wild at Heart collection and some Love U Tons Felt Hearts.
with the chipboard and feltie hearts all layered in the papers everything looks all nestled in. Kinda reminds me of the flowers nestled in the rocks. Lots of textures going on.
All along the bottom layer I added A Mermaid’s Tale, Hot Right Now and Blues Travelers sequins on the flowers. I really like how this make those flowers stand out and adds something fun to that bottom layer.
I scattered sequins all down the left side of the left as well. I mostly used the little tiny silver stars. They are so cute and with my silhouette pick up tool, they are so easy to get on the layout.
Here is a look at the whole layout.
I also made a process video to go along with this layout for my personal youtube channel. Which you can watch right here below.
Don’t forget just next week the new SpiegelMom Scraps team will be starting, give them a warm welcome, they are so talented!! Also be sure to subscribe to the SpiegelMom Scraps Youtube Channel, that is where I will be posting this upcoming year and I am so excited to be making and sharing more amazing layouts and ejects with you.
I hope you have an inspired day!!!
