Scrapbooking with Karla – Scraplifting Shimelle!
Hi, Karla here today! This week we’re scraplifting Shimelle Laine! She is one of my favourite scrapbookers, who has had such an amazing influence in the world of scrapbooking. From Two Peas to Glitter Girl, she’s helped break down the ‘rules’ of scrapbooking and help us understand why things work and how to do them. Here’s a look at Shimelle’s layout that I chose to scraplift-
I didn’t have the new Glitter Girl collection that Shimelle used, but I did have two other of her collections – True Stories and Starshine, so I decided to use the papers and stickers from those to create my layout along with the Star Spangled, Honor Guard and Hey Kiddo sequin mixes.
I love the paper layers, and for anyone who struggles to create layers to frame a photo this is a good way to get started on how to do it – by following someone else’s layout.
I love the blue star sequins in the Honor Guard sequin mix! Even though there are pinks in the photo and some on the papers, I chose to focus on the primary colours. I even used the round camera lenses as a place to add some sequin details for a more subtle, but fun effect.
I love adding different textures together, such as the Tim Holtz sentiment sticker, the star chipboard sticker, the banner cut paper sentiment and the clear sticker popped up on foam dots together with the different sizes and colours of sequins! They all look cohesive, but your eye has lots of different things to look at.
Here’s a look at the sequin mixes I used today – Star Spangled, Honor Guard and Hey Kiddo!
