What About Wednesday: Scraplifting Yourself

Aloha!! It’s Hannah here today! I thought I would do something fun today. I thought it would be fun to pick a layout I really liked from my pile of layouts.  (Yes, I said pile. Maybe some would say it’s more like a stack. Though many of them are actually in my kit boxes, so maybe I could find another fun term to use. However at the end of the day they are not in albums yet.)

I am scrap lifting myself. I love to do this from time to time especially when it comes to using a design that I enjoyed. I don’t have to put as much thought into the design and with a change of papers and embellishments the layout could look so much different from the original.

Here is a look at my original layout that I made last year for a series I had on my Youtube Channel called “For The Love Of Homemade Kits”, where I made a stash kit with a recipe.

This time I focused more on the layering aspect. I really wanted more layers be behind my photo. The layout above I really was playing around with self perspective type photos and loved the playful aspect of it. This layout I am doing today is more about sharing and remembering books my daughter has been reading lately.

I want to be able to look back and see what the book covers look like to her favorite and most read books. She literally will ask to stay up late to read a few more extra chapters. It makes my mom book loving heart smile.

I pulled out a ton of book themed embellishments that I have in my stash and in some new collections that I have just bought. Some of the stuff made it to the layout. Some did not, like the stacked books from the Shimelle Little by Little collection and the library journal cards from the Simple Stories Reset Girl Collection.

The key is to try all these pieces out and have them ready and see how everything looks together once you start layering. This original layout doesn’t have a ton of stuff, but it the way I have it layered behind the photo and in some key places that make everything come together.

In the original I also used a really fun cut file that I overlapped with different patterns. I used the cut file as part of my title. This time I choose to go with a big white acrylic word Read from Ali Edwards Story Kits. I really like the simplicity of the white word on the multi colored dot pattern paper. By adding Rockin Pink Ombre Sequins from the store around the title it really draws your eye there.

I layered some ephemera, tags and some speech bubbles at the top of the photo. I finished by adding more Sequins around that cluster. The pink sequins just matches perfectly with the colors in my daughter’s books.

Some small touches I think really finished off the layout, which were a hand drawn border around the layout. Some washi tape in the layers near the embellishment clusters and an extra dose of those Amazing Rockin Pink Ombre Sequins.

Here is one last look at the whole layout!
