SeQuins & a Red Carpet Studios “Anything Goes” Challenge

Oh how I love a good challenge and the Red Carpet Studios challenge blog is full of them!  I’m linking up to the Anything Goes challenge today, just in the nick of time too.

I created this layout with my September Gossamer Blue kit and love the color combos and patterns!!  Hazy summer yellow and greenish blue are so pretty together in the small floral paper from Carta Bella’s Hello Again.  I cut the golden cardstock into a circle and started to layer, little by little.  **Tip ** Don’t forget that when layering elements, only put the adhesive towards the middle and NOT at the edges when you’re building your layout!  I stitched around the edges of the gold cardstock, which has quickly become a favorite technique with my ‘go-to’ gold thread (which is literally from 1975 in my Mom’s sewing drawer!)   The cardstock shapes & buttons are from the My Minds Eye Cut & Paste collection and the cardstock stickers are the coordinating Carta Bella Hello Again.

I also positioned the gold cardstock around to three areas on the layout, creating an eye-pleasing visual triangle See how that works?!  Try it on your next project!  Create your visual triangle with embellishment clusters, colors, photos, inks and more.

I strung some bakers twine from my stash through the banner holes and  twisted it a little to get the loops to fall where I wanted them to.  I carefully glued it down with a few drops of the Aleene’s Tacky Glue also.

Here’s a close-up of a few sequins.  They are adhered with the tacky glue and literally stuck like glue, just like Sugarland sings!  (yes, that’s a reference to a country music song LOL)

I added my Pale Aqua and Gold Sequins from My Etsy Shop.  I love that they’re slighty supped and iridescent!!  Perfect for cards and scrapbook pages.  I’ve found two solid ways to adhere them ~ Glossy Accents from Ranger and a sewing glue called Aleene’s Tacky Glue!  I used the tacky glue to adhere them on this layout and they aren’t going anywhere!

Now, you may not have time to link up to this fabulous challenge but there’s always next time!  Don’t forget to visit SpiegelMom’s Scrap Shop on Etsy for 10 varieties of sequins, lots of Studio Calico Wood Veneers,  20 Washi Tapes and more.  I have a coupon code this month for 15% off your entire order.  Just enter 15OFF at check out and you’re all set!  There’s also 14 items in the clearance section including $1 washi tapes and $2 wood veneers!
