Tuesday’s Talent ~ Ka Slagoski is here!

Hello everyone! My name is Ka and I am beyond thrilled and honored to be a guest designer for Spiegelmom Scraps! I want to thank Jody for inviting me to guest design here and for all the awesome products she given me to create with. Every Tuesday, I’ll be sharing a card or two here for the month of September. Woo-hoo! Let me get started by sharing a little information about me, then we’ll move on to the cards.
profileI am a longtime papercrafter who have dabbled in many forms of paper crafts, but my true passion is creating cute and whimsical cards. When I’m not paper-crafting, you’ll find me watching my favorite comedy TV shows, playing games at Dave & Buster, playing tennis, and hanging out with my husband, family and friends. 🙂

Now, let’s move on to today’s cards. This first card was so much fun to create. I fell in love with the Shimmerz Paint Paste when I was playing with it. I think I may just need one in every color! 😉

Hello Sunshine 1

“Hello, Sunshine” Card

I started this card off by placing My Favorite Things Sunray Stencil over the white cardstock and sponged Mustard Seed distress ink, going outward from dark to light. Then, I rotated the stencil and filled in the gap by spreading the Shimmerz Paint Dazzlerz Lemon Drop Yellow paste with a long plastic palette knife. I set that aside to dry.

Hello Sunshine 2

Once that was dried, I randomly added some Spiegelmom Scraps Glossy Black Sequins and some Pretty Pink Posh metallic sequins. I stamped the sentiment using Avery Elle Elle’s Alphas and cut them into small strips. I added a strip of One Way Arrow washi tape to the left side. I finished this card by popping the sunray panel up on the card base with foam dimensional adhesives.

Youre Awesome 1

“You’re Awesome” Card

This next card, I decided to play with punches and patterns. When I first saw the Studio Calico Stars Wood Veneers in Spiegelmom Esty shop, I knew I wanted to make something with them. I decided to create a grid by scoring the cardstocks into thirds. Then I punched out some stars in 3 different patterned papers using a small star punch. I also punched out a tag with a scallop tag punch and stamped the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Quite the Pair set and white heat embossed the sentiment. Next, I adhered all the stars on the grid and sew some of the Maya Arts Burlap Strings from Spiegelmom Scraps Etsy Shop to the stars. Then, I added some Studio Calico Tiny Stars Wood Veneers on top of the stars for a fun look. The scalloped tag was popped up with dimensional adhesives and a green bow was tied on top. I finished the card off by popping the entire panel with foam dimensional adhesives onto a navy card base.

Youre Awesome 2 (1)
