Happy Saturday and welcome back to our Triple Hop weekend!!  Today we have more of the Sparklers DT girls AND three awesome guests ready to inspire you.  Welcome Missy Whidden, Alex Hunter and Karla Yungwirth!! Thank you so much for joining us and sharing your creativity with the SMS fans!

Today is all about SEQUINS and all the creative things you can do with them in your paper crafting.  There is so much more to sequins than just shaker cards and today we want to knock your sparkly socks off, so let’s get started! Here’s today’s sparkly line-up:

It’s Jody here on the SMS blog and I’m totally thrilled!   Today, I’m kicking off Sequin Saturday with this fun layout. I started off by creating my background with Shimmerz Dazzlerz Pucker Up Pink and watering it down with a a few sprays of H2O. I smooshed it around on a plastic Ziplock baggie. I put my hand inside the Ziplock and used my fingers to smoosh & kind of stamp my color onto my American Crafts white cardstock.

Next, I added Pink Paislee branding stripes along the middle to ground everything. Then I added more layers from there, beginning with some black cardstock from my scraps bin. I knew I wanted to pull in black because I already had my title planned out. I added a few messy layers behind my 4×4″ black & white photo and then mounted it all onto the black cardstock, backed with craft foam for some dimension.

In my layout I used my Summer Sunset sequins (which you can pre-order now) to accent the direction & angle at which my girls are “dabbing.” Using sequins to accent movement in a layout really helps your eye move naturally across your layout. Give it a try! Pull out action photos such as a sporting event, children dancing, running, etc. Use the sequins as an extentsion of the energy flowing from your photo or photos.

Another fun thing I did on this layout is add some stamping by pulling stamps from my stash. The “Carefree” stamp is a mystery to me BUT the “#together” stamp is from an American Craft super cute roller date stamp set.

The black die cut heart is from the free SpiegelMom Scraps cut file “Mermaid Hair Don’t Care” found here.

Finally, here’s a close up of the smooshed Pucker Up Pink & water with the Summer Sunset sequins.

Thank you for spending your time with us again today! Next, you’re on to Missy and all the awesomeness on her blog!!
