Sometimes You NEED to Make Homemade Embellishments…

with lots of beautiful sparkly things! Hello! I am so very excited and happy to be Guest Designing for Spiegalmom Scraps this month of May! And what a month it is going to be! My name is Sara Mishler. You can  find on most social media sites as Sara Scraps. I hope to bring you some projects this month to inspire you to play with lots of little sparkly sequins…because I LOVE them. For my first project I decided to create some of my own embellishments and alter some of the wood tags in the shop too. I have a You Tube video that shows my process-

First up, I created these hearts with the Red Slipper Sequins ( I absolutely LOVE them!) And with the help of a handy heart punch, they weren’t very difficult. I think you could definitely use my technique with any kind of punch- hexagons or circles would be especially cute! Just punch your shapes with white card stock, get your favorite sequin glue ( I used Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive) and glue the sequins around the edge. I placed mine on a white card stock background so you really don’t see the punched shape, just the sequin hearts. I would love to see your creations if you try this!

The next embellishment I altered where these Amy Tangerine Wood Veneers

I backed the tag with white cardstock, filled the heart with a thin layer of Scotch Adhesive, and then filled the heart with the red slipper sequins. I’m a patient scrapper, so as a final step, I filled the top in completely with Glossy Accents (so the sequins wouldn’t fall out at all) and left them to dry overnight.

Gold Sweetheart Confetti and Chunky Cork Hearts add the final finishing touches and here is the completed layout of our family’s adorable puppy Cooper ( Look at that face!!)
