Sketching on Scrapbook Layouts with Distress Markers

Hi everyone!! Jody here today. Wasn’t Juliana’s post & layout lovely!! I just love her style & her fabulous cut files!! Thank you again Juliana for sharing your talents with us!!

Today I’m sharing a layout I started to create at the beginning of this summer but never finished until last week.  I really struggled to finish this layout but didn’t know what it needed. I’m not sure if it’s because these papers aren’t my usual girly style or what, but it wasn’t working for me.

After I let this layout sit unfinished for a couple months, I went back to it with an idea. I wanted to add some white sketching of some kind, somewhere. I own 2 types of white pens/markers & love them both for different uses.  First, I tried my Uniball Signo White Pen to draw around my title to make it stand out more. This worked ok but didn’t really have the affect I was going for. Second, I reached for my only Distress Marker in Picket Fence (white). Yes, I only have ONE!! I don’t use markers much and this is the only one I really felt drawn to. I think you’ll see why below! This marker is amazing!  You can’t write or sketch on dark paper or cardstock & after a few seconds when the ink dries it turns white!! I love it!! You can fill in shapes, sketch, journal (although a bit trickier) and more!! Check out these close ups and the visual impact the white Distress Marker has on the overall layout! It’s so cool.     I hope you enjoyed this non-girly layout & my Distress Marker tip! The products I used to create this layout are below:

Studio Calico papers

Studio Calico wood veneers

Tim Holtz Distress Marker, Picket Fence

White Normandy Doily

Super Star Cork Stars

Pink Fresh Studio wood & enamel chevrons

Freckles Fawn “This” paper clip

Felt-Fetti Hearts in green

Thanks so much for spending your time with me today!

Do something creative today!
