Puppy Snugs || Katie Kinnamon

Hello again, everyone!!  I’m over the moon excited to share with you this week.  On Monday, the question was posed in the Facebook group as to what is one crafty technique you want to try out in 2019.  I didn’t hesitate to say that creating cut files was top of my list.  You see, almost a year ago a video was posted on YouTube by Tracy Banks and in that video she used a wood veneer heart shaped frame.  Since that day, I have scoured Etsy and Ebay trying to find it.  But I was too late.  Cursing my three year hiatus from scrapbooking and all the fun products I had missed out on, I set to trying to find a cut file that was similar.  Since that time, I have searched everywhere for either the actual wood frame, or a cut file.  I even went so far as to attempt to make a cut file and failed miserably at that.  Tuesday night, I decided to give it a go again and within twenty minutes I had the cut file exactly how I wanted it.  Wednesday night, I had a layout complete using it.  The take away from this is to never give up!  If you have a dream or a goal, no matter how big or small or important or seemingly silly, stick with it and be patient with yourself if it doesn’t work out at first.  I’ll cheer you on, if no one else will.  As always, all products used on this layout will be listed at the end of the post.

I pulled out a collection from Felicity Jane because I loved the way it went with the photo I selected.  I pulled enough bits and pieces out to be able to go through my sequins and see what coordinated because the day had come… I was going to make a shaker pocket.  First one ever people.  Two firsts accomplished in one week.  I may have self-high fived a couple times……..

Once my shaker pocket was complete, I set to backing the rest of the sections with patterned papers.  I then matted my photo with scraps of paper and a glassine bag.  I didn’t add journaling to the layout, but I wanted an option to add it later without it taking away from the layout and the glassine bag was perfect for that.

I added various Shimmerz paints as splatters around where the edge of the heart would be.  I didn’t have anything that matched the goldenrod yellowy color, so I mixed two colors – something I also had to do for the right green color. When that dried, I stuck down the heart and got to playing with embellishments.

Creating this layout was a lot of fun for me.  I hope you enjoyed it too!  I am constantly super happy that the variety in the sequins from Spiegel Mom Scraps seems to always match whatever other products I am using.  If having a sequin addiction is wrong, well… I don’t want to be right.  To help feed your own addiction, you can use my discount code (Katie15) to get 15% off your order.  Have a great week, push yourself to try something new, and I’ll see you next Saturday!
