Mixed Media Mad Scientist with Jody

mixed-media-mania

Happy Sunday everyone!  Jody here today with a funky mixed media background.  I started with a 12×12 sheet of textured American Crafts cardstock and three new Shimmer Paints colors; Moody Mauve Coloringz, Princess Vibez and Punked Up Purple Coloringz.

I put large amounts of splatter along the left side of my layout, then turned the cardstock on it’s side and tapped it on my workbench to make those splatters run down the cardstock.  I did this with each of the three Shimmerz colors listed above, and then added some more splatters on top of that!   GOTTA LOVE SPLATTER!!

Here’s a close up of those splatters and drips.  Oh, and I added some Night Moves splatters too!  Those super cute hearts are from the Mermaid Hair, Don’t Card free cut file from SpiegelMom Scraps 🙂 You can download any of the free cut files on the Cut File Page HERE. The various alpha are from my stash.  I really wanted to take inspiration from Christy’s video on the SpiegelMom Scraps YouTube channel.  I wanted to created a big title with a few different kinds of alphas.  I really love how the big title turned out! Here, you get a closer look at my layering.  I used the Dear Lizzy Saturday collection papers from the 6×6″ paper pad.  I added another pop of purple with that awesome May Arts Ribbon purple burlap string!

Below, I added more purple splatters and more soft color using the packaging technique in the lower right corner of the layout.  You can also see that I have some purple May Arts Burlap string swirled around.  To adhere the string, I drew a thin line of Ranger Glossy Accents and laid my string down on top of it.  Any strong liquid adhesive would work here too.image2-9

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  It’s a rainy Sunday here in Wisconsin!  I hope you’re spending the rest of your day being crafty…. I’ll be spending the rest of today packing and going through kids clothes before we move in a few weeks!
