Hello again! It’s Kelly and I have my third project to share with you this week. I did a layout similar to this last year and loved it so much I had to do it again this year. The photo is not great, but it is my son’s senior class schedule. In ten years it will be fun for him to look back on this and see the classes that he took his senior year.
On the background I used a few Shimmerz watercolors and Well Blue Me Down mist and the famous packaging technique. Once that dried, I used Salt of the Earth Paste-eez through a Tim Holtz stencil for some added texture.
For this layout I chose to work with the more masculine papers in Paige Evan’s Turn the Page collection. I cut the word Senior with my Silhouette software, using the font Blackout Sunrise. I just checked the shop and the sequins that I used for this project are already sold out!! However, the Magical Adventure and Lisa’s Starry Night packs are pretty close to the pack that I used if you are looking to replicate my project.
To adhere the sequins to the letter, I put double sided tape on the inside of the I and pushed the sequins down. Since this is a technique that I have not personally done before, I was not sure how well the sequins would stick. They stick amazingly well to the double sided tape which made it so easy to arrange the sequins.
Adding a few sequins around the page helps to bring a bit more bling to the clusters and helps to make the layout look more cohesive.
If you’d like to take a peek at my process, I’ve included a link below. Thanks so much for joining me today, and I hope this inspires you!
I used several Felicity Jane kits for the papers and embellishments for this layout. Once I settled on the color scheme, the layout came together fairly quickly. Adhering a few sequins down the edge of my photo is one of my favorite go-to techniques when it comes to sequins. It doesn’t take a lot to make a big impact on your page.
If you have never tried modeling paste through stencils, this is the perfect one to purchase. The texture of white on white amazing, especially in person. For this layout I chose to use a geometric stencil because I felt like the graphic nature of the triangles worked well with the dots and lines on the patterned papers.
Adhering the tiny stars was easier than I thought, and I found that using Scotch Tacky Adhesive worked well. It dries clear which is a huge plus. I love the combination of the silver stars and the holographic sequins. They are so versatile and can be used for so many different projects.
Thanks so much for joining me today, and I hope that you have a great week!
Hello Sparklers! I’m Kelly Barron, and I’m the guest designer for the month of October. Today I’m sharing with you the first layout that I created this month featuring theSweet Summer Vibessequin pack and the Summer Lights collection by Pink Paislee. I used a free cut file from the Paper Issues store and backed it with patterned paper, and then machine stitched around the heart in silver thread.
The sequins in this pack are gorgeous and perfect for this collection. I chose to make a sequin frame around my photo which really plays up on the title “Electric Love”. There are several different ways that I have adhered sequins to my layouts. For the frame I adhered red line tape around the edges of the photo, and then pressed the sequins down onto the adhesive. This works amazingly well for flat sequins, and it made adhering them down so easy.
The smile emoji was punched out from the specialty paper in the collection. I’m always on the lookout for these types of papers because they really do help stretch your collection with ephemera.
I have included a link to my process video if you’d like to see how this layout came together. Thanks so much for joining me today, and I hope that you have a great day!
Hello friends! It’s Karla here today with a fun card folding technique to share with you – the Diamond Fold card! It’s a really easy fold that looks amazing, and anyone who receives it will totally love it!
You can follow along with the folding instructions in the video HERE or click below.
I used some Color Burst powders to watercolour my papers, which came with a resist printed on them. The Color Bursts are so fun to work with – and it’s like a magic show every time you spritz them with water!! I used a pretty pink flower sequin from the Raspberry Daisy Dream sequin mix and stitched it onto my loopy ribbon bow with a clear bead in the center and then added some more pretty sequins from the Summer Sunset and Let’s Be Mermaids mixes.
I used some Izink inks to colour the Cork Confetti Butterflies in to match the pretty colours on the card. I love how the texture of the cork shows through!
Here’s a look at the cork and sequins I used today, which you can find in the shop.
A bit of butterfly paper peeks out from the inside folds when the card is taken out of the envelope. I love that it tucks small enough to fit inside an envelope and then stands upright on it’s own! You can turn the card over and write a personalized message on the back for someone special.
Don’t forget to use the code KARLA15 at the SpiegelMom Scraps store to save 15% on your order!!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have a happy, sparkly week ahead!!
Hello friends! Welcome back! Sadly, this will be my last post. I have loved being a member of this amazing team and I will continue to use the amazing Spiegelmom Scraps products. Today I am sharing a 12×12 layout. I am using one of this months free cut files. I decided to shrink it down and printed it 5 times.
Hello friends! Katty here. I am extremely behind on my December Daily this year. I’m so glad I was finally able to get started. Today I am sharing Days 1-3. I have made a double 6×6 page spread. Since days 2 and 3 were very uneventful I was able to fit all three days in this double page spread.
I began with two matching pieces of patterned paper which I cut down to 6×6. They are red with white polka dots. For my left side layout I wanted to welcome back our Elf on the Shelf Buddy. I added some teal patterned paper to the bottom half. I also used a fiskars scalloped border punch with American Crafts white textured cardstock and some teal glitter tape to separate the two patterns. I added a lovely White Lace Paper Doily behind my photo of my Elf Buddy which I made round with a circle punch.
I added half circle stickers to the top and bottom of the page and I embellished with Chunky Cork Hearts and white flat back sequins from a retired mix which can also be found in the Happy Dance Mix.
I used white Freckled Fawn puffy alpha stickers to write out my tittle. My numbers for each day are also from Freckled Fawn and I embossed them with white embossing powder.
For the page on the right I used all of the same products. I also added a tag with some Red Bakers twine.
I printed some photos in black and white and some in color. I also added some blear phrase stickers from Recollections on one of the photos and over the patterned paper.
I’m really happy with how it turned out. Last years album was way too thick so I’m trying to find ways to slim it down this year and this seemed like a good option since there wasn’t much going on these three days.

Hello friends! Katty here to share another 12×12 layout with you all. I am scrapbooking a selfie I took while on a weekend trip to the Island of Bimini. It was actually an island off of Bimini and there are tons of Manta Rays just swimming around. It was very cool!
I began my layout with a Prima scallop circle stencil and the Dazzlers in Sea U in the morning. I used the stencil on the top center of a White American Crafts cardstock and created a mirror image on the bottom portion of the page. I then took a circle punch and punched out different patterns from the Pink Paislee Paige Evans Take me away collection. I cut the circles in half and placed them inside my scallop circles.
I added a few sheets of patterned paper layered behind my photo. I also added vertical strips of one of the Pink 12×12 papers from the collection on either side of the page. I also added two coordinating wash tapes to either side. I used the blue and yellow sequins from the Hot Right Now Sequin Mix. I randomly placed them on top of the scallop half circles.
I added a few ephemera pieces from the Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills and used the Indigo Hills navy thickers to create part of my tittle. The rest of my tittle was created using pink letter stickers from the Basic Grey B-side collection.
I used one of the 6×6 papers from the Take me Away Collection which had different colored stripes and I cut out the stripes. I added them in between my scallop circles. I wanted to add some of the lovely Cloudy Days Felties. I clustered them in two areas and colored some of them using the Shimmerz Vibez in Blue Jeans.
I also added some ink splatters with the Blue Jeans Mist. I also added some turquoise thread behind my clouds and on the left side of my photo.
I love how this turned out. There is a process video on my Youtube channel if you’d like to watch: https://youtu.be/-rYBg-X5ims
Hello friends! Katty here to share another 12×12 layout with you all. I am scrapbooking a few photos of my younger son in our backyard playing soccer. He is currently obsessed with soccer. He has to play at least a little bit every day. These shots were taken a few weeks ago with my iPhone. They are a bit blurry thats why I didn’t print them bigger. I just want them to tell the story.
I began with American Crafts White textured cardstock. I used a stencil by the crafters workshop called Mod Checkerboard. I sprayed the center of the stencil with one of my lovely Shimmerz Coloringz Sprays in the color Heidi Ho Blue and I also used my Shimmerz Dazzlers in Gummy Berry Blue. I then used a square punch and punched out my 4 photos. I then scattered those around the stencil work to create my design. I also took some black and yellow patterned papers in black and yellow and punched out some squares in two sizes and then layered them on top of each other. I scattered those around as well. I added some soccer balls and words from a Rub on sheet. I love how they look. Especially since I have a hard time with very themed embellishments.
I then added black ink splatters in two areas of my layout. I pulled out the lovely Cloudy Days Felties in two sizes and painted the smaller ones with the Heidi Ho Blue Shimmerz Spray. As a finishing touch I added a few circle chipboard embellishments from MAMBI and I matted the whole layout on a black and white diagonal striped Patterned Paper from Simple stories.
I am very happy with how this turned out. There is a process video on my Youtube channel if you’d like to watch: https://youtu.be/y1K6mryN3dI
I then layered a few papers from the Posh collection about two inches from the bottom of my layout. I trimmed the sides so that my diagonal stripe border would show all around. The main paper has a big dog on it. I decided I would repeat the dog element since I am scrapbooking a photo of my nieces new French Bulldog Bruce. I used the same dog from the ephemera pack, the sticker sheet and fussy cut the same dog from one of the cut apart sheets,
I created a cluster up top using a tag I cut out from one of the patterned papers and a banner I cut out and wrote the puppy’s name on and yet another sticker of the dog from the collection.
Hello friends! Welcome back! Katty here to share a Birthday themed 12×12 Scrapbooking layout. I began with a yellow polka dot patterned paper from my stash. I used a black and white bold stripe patterned paper from Teresa Collins to back the layout. I only wanted it peeking out on the sides. I am using two black and white photos of my older son on his 12th Birthday earlier this month. I began by matting the photos with a few layers. I used the Black Diagonal Stripe Bag in Black right behind my photo. I then layered a few patterned papers from an American Crafts 6×6 paper pad. I also scattered around some stickers and die cuts from the Simple Stories Let’s Party Collection.
Hello friends! Katty here to share a 12×12 layout with you all. Today for Scrappy Saturday I am scrapbooking a photo of my brother and niece at her college graduation last December. We are so proud of her. I decided to print the photo in black and white because her gown was purple and my brother was wearing a red shirt! Not the best color combination.
I began with a few patterned papers from the Fancy Pants Office Suite and Happy Place Collections. I decided to use a black and white stripe and polka dot as my background. I layered them in between some American Crafts White Textured Cardstock. I tilted the papers a bit so that they weren’t all perfectly straight. I also used my distress tool to distress the white cardstock edges. I added a strip of arrows to the four corners using a Teresa Collins Stencil and the beautiful Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Coral Me Crazy.
I added a simple black cardstock mat for my photo and layered one of the blue patterned papers behind it. I also added a White Lace Paper Doily both behind my photo and on the bottom cluster. I used one of the patterned papers that has a beautiful floral on it and fussy cut some flowers from it. I layered the flowers around my photo, which I placed towards the top left of the page and also clustered some of the flowers on the bottom right. I also grabbed some leaf sprigs and 2 flowers I had cut out in my silhouette cameo and backed those with black cardstock to add to my floral clusters.
I layered one of the papers behind my photo and pulled some of the embellishment circles and tags that come in the paper pad and scattered them around my page in my clusters. I decided I needed an small third cluster on the top left of the page behind my photo as well. For some extra texture and sparkle I also added the beautiful yellow flowers from the Happy Dance Sequins in my clusters as well.
For my tittle I crated a shelf for my tittle to sit on to the right of my photo using a pink strip from the Fancy Pants papers and a blue scallop border from the Kaisercraft Finders Keepers Paper Pad. I added some of the flatback frosted white sequins also from the Happy Dance Sequins to the scallops. For the actual tittle I used a Wood veneer from my stash that says “Congrats,” I colored it black using Black India Ink. As a finishing touch, I added splatter with the same Black India Ink.
I really love the end result. There is a process video on my Youtube channel if you’d like to watch: https://youtu.be/qEXfuk3ozpw
Hello friends! Katty Miranda here for another What about Wednesday. Today I am focusing on cut files. Cut files are a great way to add interest to any layout. There are so many fonts and designs available that the possibilities are endless. We are very lucky to have Khristina Sorge on our team. She is creating free, yes free cut files available for you to download every month. Take a look at this months awesome cut files. You can download the free cut file here: http://spiegelmomscraps.com/sparklers-unite-dt-blog-hop/
I used the Summer word and cut it out multiple times on American Crafts White Textured Cardstock. As a background I chose a blue hombre patterned paper from the Pink Paislee Fancy Free Paper Pad. I am scrapbooking a 4×91/2 panoramic photo of Hanauma Bay in Oahu Hawaii from our recent summer vacation. I lined up the photos and the cut files vertically on the page. For the open cut files I used 6×6 paper pads from my stash to back the openings. I chose patterned papers in the blue and green tones. The regular cut words I covered in beautiful Sequins.
Hi Everybody! I am SO very excited to be back this week at SpiegelMom Scraps with my second Guest Designer project for the month of July. I am having a blast working with these amazingly fun products and I hope that I have inspired you to give them a try too!
Today, I am going to share a layout and process video using a few different collections and embellishments as well as a cut file that I created to make “fake” shaker pockets so much easier and faster!! What’s even better is I have included my basic title cut file below so that you can try it out too! You can find the process video by clicking here.
One of my favorite uses for all of these beautiful sequins is to create shaker pockets combined with cut files. The two elements naturally work well together and create a fun and unique detail on your page. The problem is that cut files and shaker pockets and can be messy and a lot of work. So….today I am showing you a way to make it a little easier and faster to get the same look.
Without further ado, here is my completed project and some close-ups as well as some helpful hints. Make sure to check out the process video as well as it gives more of a step-by-step guide to what I did to create this look.
By creating two layers with my cut file, I was able to cut the outline of the letters on regular white cardstock and then the filled version of the letters with sticker paper (cut thru my Silhouette upside down just like in the video—yellow side upJ ) This allowed the sticky side to be facing upward and easily adhered those sequins and details. I added a piece of clear transparency between the sticker paper layer and the cardstock outline layer and voila….the look of a shaker pocket with simple steps and sequins that won’t move around and pool up at the bottom of the letters!!
From the SpiegelMom Scraps Store, I worked with two different sequin packages: Amy’s Sprinkles and Hot Right Now. I also used the Normandy 4 inch white doilies which I colored on the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink in Mermaid Lagoon. The last component that I incorporated from SpiegelMom Scraps was the super fun Felt-Fetti Hearts.
Make sure to click below to try out the PLAY title cut file. Make sure to share your project with me if you use the cut file to create one. Also, make sure to check out the process video that goes with this layout by clicking here. I will be back next week with another fun project! Happy Crafting!!
Hi Everybody! I am SO very excited to be here at SpiegelMom Scraps as the Guest Designer for the month of July. The month started off with a bang with the new releases on July 1st including six amazing new sets of sequin mixes. Today, I am going to share a layout and process video using one of those collections, A Day in the Woods, which is shown here:
One of my favorite uses for all of these beautiful sequins is to create shaker pockets combined with cut files. The two elements naturally work well together and create a fun and unique detail on your page. This collection coordinates perfectly with SO many of the new summer collections including both Bo Bunny’s new Take a Hike Noteworthy Collection and the new Pink Paislee Outfitters collection. My layout combined some elements from both of those collections.
Without further ado, here is my completed project and some close-ups as well as some helpful hints.
From the SpiegelMom Scraps Store, I worked with the A Day in the Woods sequin mix as well as the Cork-Fetti Hearts and the Fuse Tool. I picked up some 3×4 Project Life Pockets and used those along with my Fuse Tool to create three small shaker pockets where I mixed in some sequins along with some of the mini cork hearts.
I have the larger cork hearts added to the embellishment clusters to tie it all together. One big hint for making those shaker pockets work with the cut file is to back the cut file with patterned pattern and then with some foam adhesive or Fun Foam which adds some natural dimension that you can use to allow the shaker pockets room to fit.
There are loads of hints and suggestions in the process video that I have over on my You Tube Channel to coordinate with this project. You can find that video here. I would love to see what you create with the A Day in the Woods sequin mix and hope that you will share with us here at SpiegelMom Scraps. I will be back next week with another fun project!
Hello friends, Katty here to share another 12×12 Scrapbooking Layout. I am so in love with this months mood board for The Pretty Patterned Paper Playground. I decided to use it again. I am scrapbooking three photos of my adorable nephew who just turned 6 last month. The green in his shirt matched this mood board perfectly.
I began with a sheet of patterned paper which was a lime green color with colored yarn balls. I had actually pulled that paper out to use for an “Ugly Paper” Challenge in another group. I realized that some of the colors matched this mood board very well. I used a 1 inch punch and punched out the red, orange and white yarn balls. I scattered them around the right side of a white 12×12 cardstock. To bring in some yellow I used a Crafters Workshop stencil called Cosmic Bubbles with my beautiful Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Lemon Drop. My idea was for it to look like scattered confetti.
I then used my Dazzlers in Sour Apple and added triangles of color with a Prima tiny checkerboard stencil. I added 3 triangles which will be the resting place for my photos. I added a simple mat behind my photos using some yellow and red doodlebug tiny doilies.
